Chapter 2562: Chapter 2563: Return to Tianyun (129)

”Princess, the King and Queen have sent someone to bestow gifts.”

Upon hearing this, Su Xing and the others quickly stood up. As they stood, they saw the chief eunuch of the royal palace leading a group of people, either carrying or holding items, and delivering them one by one.

The others did not enter the main hall, but stopped in the courtyard; only the chief eunuch came in.

”Greetings, Princess.” The chief eunuch held a dust whisk, saluted Su Xing, and then continued, ”The King and Queen sent this old servant to deliver gifts to the Princess.”

Saying this, he walked out of the main hall, stood at the entrance, and opened a small booklet in his hand, reading aloud: ”The King and Queen bestow upon Princess Jiu An a pair of Wufeng gold hairpins; a pair of Luminous Pearls; a pair of Jade Ruyi; a pair of thumb rings; a red coral tree; one of each of the Zitan Eight Treasures—screen hangings, partition screens, standing screens, picture screens, table screens, inkstone screens—two pairs of Coloured Glaze Palace Lamps, twelve rolls of palace brocade...”

As the chief eunuch read each item, someone would carry that item in and place it before Su Xing.

A total of fifty-four items, each precious, were neatly arranged in front of Su Xing, and Wan Banyan looked on with envious red eyes.

”Princess, please keep them well.” Once all the items were brought in, the chief eunuch closed the booklet and handed it to Su Xing.

”Thank you, Sir.”

”The Princess is too gracious, this old servant must hurry back to report, so I will take my leave.” Saying this, the chief eunuch slightly bowed to Su Xing, then left with his entourage, returning to the royal palace.

Receiving gifts from the King and Queen is a supreme honor.

Tao Chengyin looked at the items, very pleased, and after everyone left, he said to Su Xing, ”The King and Queen are fond of the Princess, so you must serve them well and not belie their grace.”

Su Xing smiled and said, ”Naturally.” They are her own parents, how could she not treat them well?

”Princess, thanks to you, I have never seen such fine things.” Tao Chengyin’s concubine, Aunt Feng, remarked.

Aunt Zhu and Aunt Fang repeatedly echoed, agreeing.

Tao Mingsheng, Tao Mingxiang, Tao Mingqing, Tao Mingfang gathered around these items, also opening their eyes to the spectacle.

Tao Ming Hai and Mrs. Cao remained composed, only Wan Banyan murmured quietly as she saw Tao Mingsheng and these Commons Son and Commoner girl, as well as the three aunts, looking curious as if they had never seen such things: ”Never seen the world.”

The Commons Son and Commoner girl and the three aunts immediately felt extremely embarrassed, stopped focusing on the items, and stepped back to stand aside.

Su Xing heard Wan Banyan’s murmur but ignored her, instead speaking to her maidservant, ”Hong Ye, when I married in, I didn’t prepare some gifts for the uncles, aunts, and siblings, now that these gifts from the King Father and Mother have arrived, let the three aunts, third brother, fourth sister, fifth brother, and sixth sister each have a roll of palace brocade for clothing. Later, you have someone send it to them.”

”Yes, Princess.” Hong Ye quickly responded.

This palace brocade is royal satin, specifically for the Royal Family’s use, not available to ordinary people, nor even seen. Now, with each receiving a roll, Aunt Feng, Aunt Zhu, Aunt Fang, and Mingsheng, Mingxiang, Mingqing, Mingfang, were delighted and quickly expressed their thanks.

Su Xing said to Hong Ye again, ”The screen table in father’s study is old, so use this Zitan Eight Treasures table screen for father, replace the old one, and send it to him later.”

”Yes, Princess.” Hong Ye quickly responded again.
