Peaceful Farm Life

Chapter 2591: Chapter 2592: Return to Tianyun (158)

Guards, maidservants, and young servants were all anxiously fetching water to extinguish the fire, but it couldn’t be put out.

The people from Tao Mansion saw it and flocked over to help extinguish the fire together.

Taoming Hai saw such a big fire and thought that Su Xing and Taoming Ye would surely be burned to death; he felt smug inside but didn’t show it on his face and instead helped carry water to extinguish the fire.

Wan Banyan, having had a miscarriage and still not recovered physically, lay in bed listening to the shouts of fire extinguishing through the open window. Watching the flames illuminate the sky in the direction of Su Xing and Taoming Ye’s residence, she felt very pleased. Those two people were finally going to die! She felt cheerful!

Inside the room, Su Xing had just helped Taoming Ye onto the bed when the door suddenly caught fire, accompanied by the frantic voices of the guards and maidservants. She knew it was bad and quickly helped Taoming Ye up again.

”Xin’er, get out first!” Worried about Su Xing’s safety, Taoming Ye told Su Xing not to worry about him and to leave first.

In the blink of an eye, the fire spread from the door to the window. It was truly terrifying, and he didn’t want anything to happen to her.

But how could Su Xing not care about Taoming Ye? Supporting Taoming Ye, she continued to walk out while saying, ”If we live, we live together; if we die, we die together!”

Yet Su Xing hadn’t helped Taoming Ye to the door when the wooden beam and chairs also caught fire, the heat of the flames so intense that Su Xing couldn’t open her eyes, with thick smoke rolling in.

Taoming Ye’s health was poor, and he could hardly open his eyes, especially with the smell of smoke choking him with severe coughing, unable to catch his breath, making him collapse almost unable to hold on.

”My husband, hang in there, we’re almost out!” Su Xing struggled to open her eyes, firmly supporting Taoming Ye and continuing to move toward the door.

But Taoming Ye was unable to stand, his legs already weak, making Su Xing’s support even more strenuous than before, preventing her from quickly helping Taoming Ye as before.

Their progress was somewhat slow, and the fire around them grew ever larger, scorching Su Xing’s skin to the point of pain.

Taoming Ye’s poor health made him unable to hold on, and because he kept coughing, he couldn’t speak. He really wished his wife would leave first, but she stubbornly refused.

At this moment, a beam collapsed; Taoming Ye, between coughs, saw it and worried it would hit his wife. With his last bit of strength, he turned and embraced his wife, using his back to receive the heavy and fiercely burning beam.

The beam struck Taoming Ye, making him cough up blood on the spot and faint.

”My husband!” Su Xing was scared to death and, regardless of whether the beam was burning or not, she pushed it off her husband’s back with her hand. As soon as it was pushed off, she smelled the stench of burnt flesh.

Looking down, she saw her husband’s back had a large portion of clothes and flesh burned away by the beam.

Earlier, because her husband could still walk, she wanted to quickly lead him out. Now she didn’t know if he was alive or dead, fallen down with his eyes closed, Su Xing was desperate beyond belief. Carrying him on her shoulder, she rushed toward the door. She hadn’t kicked it open when it burned and fell on its own, and she didn’t care whether the ground and surroundings were burning, carrying her husband she charged out.

The surroundings of the courtyard were also burning; she couldn’t rest inside there. Su Xing carried Taoming Ye out of the courtyard, only letting him down after reaching safety outside, sitting on the ground, holding her husband, urgently calling out with a voice choked with emotion.

”Husband? Husband?”
