Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 1197: Chapter 658: Golden Ball Awards Ceremony

The Golden Globe Awards are considered the second most prestigious and influential awards in the global film industry, following the Oscars.

In past years, even without Chinese participation, the awards have garnered significant attention from China’s film and media circles. This time, not only is ”Behind the Scenes” vying for Best Foreign Language Film, but Zhou Yun has also been nominated for Best Actress and will make an appearance at the awards ceremony.

On the day of the awards ceremony, the domestic film media began various predictions and analyses.

In fact, although the film ”Behind the Scenes” has received good reviews, another film is actually the biggest contender for Best Foreign Language Film. The chance for ”Behind the Scenes” to win the award is slim, and being nominated is already considered a mission accomplished.

Zhou Yun’s Best Actress nomination is even more so. The nomination itself was a big upset, completely unexpected by everyone. Zhou Yun’s fans, fearing that people might not understand the situation and have huge expectations for Zhou Yun that might not be met, leading to misplaced anger towards her, have been clarifying in comments and posts that Zhou Yun’s chances of winning are very low.

On one hand, despite the Golden Globes’ influence, they are ultimately focused on American films, with films from other countries and regions in Europe and America being secondary. For Asian and African films to even make it into a nomination is not easy. This time, ”Behind the Scenes” rode the wave of its Cannes Film Festival victory and Zhou Yun’s news exposure to achieve good box office sales in the United States, and with Chinese-American producer Shi Luoqi, who has deep roots in the American film industry, campaigning for it, led to the current Golden Globe nomination. Zhou Yun, as a Chinese actress starring in a non-English film, faces a tough challenge to win.

On the other hand, Zhou Yun herself is not a frontrunner; in the Best Actress in a Musical/Comedy category, there are two other strong contenders, and she is essentially a runner-up.

This situation is very clear.

Even though there is no hope of winning, this nomination is of great significance to Zhou Yun, and also to Chinese actresses.

It’s not necessarily about winning a Golden Globe or Oscar to prove an actress’s strength; national awards alone aren’t enough, but every actor aspires to be recognized by audiences worldwide.

Currently, only the Oscars, Golden Globes, and the Three Major European Film Festivals have the ability to exert worldwide influence—this is a fact.

Zhou Yun’s Golden Globe nomination is not only fortunate but also an affirmation of her ability.

She has introduced the presence of a Chinese figure into this predominantly blonde and blue-eyed lineup.

Zhou Yun will attend the ceremony alongside Shi Luoqi, Xue Qin, You Jiang, and Wang Jing.

While preparing at the hotel, Song Chi called in via video.

Song Chi smiled in the video and asked, ”How do you feel?”

The hairstylist was working on Zhou Yun’s hair.

She set the phone in front of her and said, ”A bit excited. How do you think my look is today?”

”Beautiful,” Song Chi said. ”You look beautiful no matter what you wear.”

”I have to be uniquely beautiful and dazzling,” Zhou Yun laughed. ”I can’t be overshadowed by anyone else.”

”You won’t be,” Song Chi said. ”You’re always the most attention-grabbing wherever you go.”

The Golden Globe red carpet is a bit different from those in China; on the red carpet, there are media reporters, and even hosts with equipment stationed directly on the sidelines, not with a layer in between, but right on the side where they can face you directly.

Zhou Lan mentioned to Zhou Yun that while walking the red carpet, she could be stopped by a host or journalist broadcasting live, and they might directly interview her with some questions, or even play a little game.

Overall, the red carpet doesn’t have much order and gives off a slightly chaotic vibe.

Zhou Yun said, ”I’ll be careful answering questions, as not to cause you any trouble.”

”As long as you understand what I mean,” Zhou Lan smiled.

Zhou Yun was dressed in an elegant and intellectual white strapless long gown, with Jinling Jewelry providing her with a suite of jewelry worth over a billion, elevating her radiant look beyond mere description.

Besides Zhou Yun, Shi Luoqi, Xue Qin, and Wang Jing were all dressed exquisitely.

In such an important occasion, everyone strived to present the best of themselves.

”Xiao Yun is sure to make the best-dressed list today with this look,” Shi Luoqi laughed. ”You really suit this goddess style.”

Maintaining a smile, Zhou Yun placed one hand on her hip and said, ”Thank you, Sister Luo Qi. I feel like this dress is getting tight, and I can’t wait to get out of it.”
