Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 1194: Chapter 657: Between VX and the D Family

Below zero, the snow is thick. Even though it’s daytime, it feels as though everything is covered with a grayish haze. The light is dim, and there aren’t any bright colors. Everyone walking on the road is dressed warmly, making it hard to see their faces.

Zhou Yun sat in the coffee shop where the indoor heating fogged up the floor-to-ceiling windows.

She just felt that this view, oh, it’s really cold.

Zheng Xiaojue and Liu Yun sat opposite her; since they had nothing to do, they were both glued to their phones—ah, no, Liu Yun was using an e-reader to read.

Liu Yun has always been quite a quiet and life-loving girl. Zhou Yun has known her for a long time. She’s much more reserved than Zheng Xiaojue, not as boisterous as the latter.

In the beginning, Liu Yun didn’t really like reading. Seeing Zhou Yun and Zheng Xiaojue always reading made her curious, so she asked Zhou Yun to recommend some books.

Zhou Yun said she mostly read crime mystery novels.

Liu Yun said she’d give it a try and, if she didn’t like them, she’d let it go.

But from the current situation, Liu Yun seems to have fallen in love with novels.

Zhou Yun picked up her coffee cup and took a sip.

Finally, Gu Huaichun’s call came through.

Half an hour ago, she sent Gu Huaichun a message, asking him to call back when he had a chance.

”Congratulations on turning peril into success,” Zhou Yun laughed as she answered the phone.

Gu Huaichun’s voice immediately sounded listless without any energy: ”Oh, come on, stop making fun of me. I just want to rest right now.”

”Right now? No way. If I remember correctly, your new show is about to air,” Zhou Yun said. ”Moreover, will your company let you rest? Without cracking a little whip behind you to spin you like a top, how could they be willing?”

”Thanks a lot!” Gu Huaichun replied sarcastically.

”So how did your company manage to get Xu Qin on board?” Zhou Yun asked curiously.

Gu Huaichun said: ”Nothing much, we bought the chat logs from her close friend.”

”You paid money?” Zhou Yun was utterly shocked, ”How much did you spend?”

”The amount is confidential. Anyway, it was expensive enough to make me bleed.”

”Serves you right, I’ve already told you to be more careful.”

”Oh, come on, in situations where people turn their backs unexpectedly, what can you do? Haven’t you ever met someone like that?”

Zhou Yun indeed had no words to say; how could one not encounter such people at work? But Zhou Yun generally didn’t like taking such people to heart.

Gu Huaichun yawned, ”I’m really tired. If there’s nothing else, I’ll hang up. I haven’t slept well these days.”

”Alright, alright. Go sleep,” Zhou Yun said. ”I won’t disturb your rest.”

”Mm-hmm.” Gu Huaichun hung up the phone.

Not a word of farewell, he really seems exhausted.

After finishing her coffee, Zhou Yun asked, ”Should we go and browse the market nearby? I read recommendations about a large market here that has many shops to explore.”

Zheng Xiaojue and Liu Yun both nodded and agreed.

Zhou Yun thought that coming to Berlin was an opportunity, and she was quite willing to visit the local markets.

If there was something suitable, she could buy it and give it to those around her.

But it was just too cold outside.

Zhou Yun felt that her face was almost numb from the biting wind.

After shopping, returning to the hotel, Zhou Yun soaked herself in the bathtub to fend off the cold. She soaked for over an hour, and afterward, feeling dizzy, she only wanted to sleep.

So at around eight in the evening, Zhou Yun went to sleep quickly and soundly.

The result of sleeping so early was waking up early the next morning.

Zhou Yun was awake by five in the morning.

She changed into workout clothes, ready to go to the hotel gym for some exercise.

At six, she found the gym empty, and the door was still shut.

Zhou Yun hesitated about whether to go out for a run, but seeing the heavy snow outside, she gave up.

She eventually decided just to walk up and down the stairs for a bit of movement.

After climbing stairs for half an hour, she went back to her room to shower, change clothes, and then head to the restaurant for breakfast.

Zhou Lan sent her a message saying he had landed and would arrive at the hotel in about an hour.

Tomorrow, Zhou Lan would join Zhou Yun for the screening event of ”Zhongshan” at the Berlin International Film Festival.

Zhou Yun replied with an OK.

This time for the screening event, Zhou Yun wasn’t planning to wear VX. Instead, she donned a specially customized gown from D’s collection.

Zhou Lan specifically went to borrow it from D for her. For Zhou Yun to wear this gown on the red carpet at the Berlin International Film Festival, D graciously agreed to lend it, not only lending that gown but also gifting her their latest runway catalog, which would make it easier for Zhou Yun to choose if she needed outfits for any future occasions.
