Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 1163: Chapter 648: Deep Sea Broadcast_2

After all, compared to what it would cost them to produce a drama themselves, the licensing fee they paid for this series is nothing.

Chinese-language dramas don’t sell for very high prices on the international market; that’s just the reality.

Originally there was another important matter tonight. According to Zhou Lan’s initial plan, Yuk Chu was supposed to announce her pregnancy this evening, which would also create a lot of buzz for Deep Sea.

A female star’s pregnancy has always drawn attention, let alone an actress like Yuk Chu who already has a certain level of recognition.

But in the end, Zhou Lan gave up on this plan.

Zhou Lan felt that if the news broke after Deep Sea started airing, it would be most beneficial to Yuk Chu.

Although everyone knows that Yuk Chu and Zhou Yun are good friends, the gap between them is huge in terms of popularity and status in the industry. So barring any accidents, with the drama becoming a hit, Yuk Chu’s name recognition will definitely rise by a large margin. That’s the kind of boost a breakout show gives an actor.

But Yuk Chu is about to stop work and prepare for childbirth.

She won’t lack publicity or exposure while Deep Sea is airing, but after Deep Sea finishes, that’s not guaranteed. She has a lot of unaired projects coming up, but none on the same level as Deep Sea. So Zhou Lan wants to hold this news back, all the way until Yuk Chu’s heat starts to drop and she needs to maintain her popularity—then release it.

Zhou Lan has no other requirements, just this one: don’t let Yuk Chu be forgotten by everyone because she disappears from public view due to her pregnancy.

In this age of information overload, competition among female stars is so fierce that if you don’t stir up some news for a few months, people forget you—let alone an actress like Yuk Chu, whose standing is still unstable and who only has a certain level of fame.

Zhou Yun and Yuk Chu stood side by side on stage, chatting and joking with the host, answering questions, and cooperating with the media present to take lots of photos.

When it came time for the group photo of all the actors, maybe because there were too many people on stage, Yuk Chu was jostled and almost fell.

Zhou Yun reacted quickly and caught her.

Yuk Chu was badly startled.

Zhou Yun asked softly, ”Are you okay?”

Yuk Chu shook her head.

Zhou Yun held Yuk Chu’s hand tightly and didn’t let go again, afraid that she might get shoved and fall.

Yuk Chu is in a special period right now; she absolutely cannot fall.

The next day, Deep Sea went online.

It didn’t air on TV; Deep Sea was only counting on its online performance metrics.

Zheng Xiaojue kept watching everyone’s real-time comments and collecting feedback.

These days when a drama airs, there are haters, paid posters, and whole marketing armies.

Very often, the production side or the platform side spends money on marketing to keep the sponsors who paid up front happy, making the numbers for a drama look great, when in fact not many people are watching—or not many actually like it—and it’s all zombie accounts.

Deep Sea is not all zombie accounts, but how people actually evaluate Zhou Yun’s performance in this show still needs to be gauged through genuinely authentic comments. Overt praise from fans doesn’t count, brainless hate from haters doesn’t count either. Distinguishing and selecting among them is a kind of Kung Fu.

Zhou Yun had arranged to meet Director Cong Lan today and brought Cheng Shenlv along. This was something she had promised Cheng Shenlv before.

At the dinner table, Zhou Yun could tell that Director Cong Lan was quite satisfied with Cheng Shenlv.

To be honest, Zhou Yun herself appreciates Cheng Shenlv a lot; otherwise she wouldn’t have introduced Cheng Shenlv to Director Cong Lan.

Some opportunities are only given to you if you have the ability to deserve them in the first place.

Cheng Shenlv can act, and her basic character is not bad either.

Of course, whether Director Cong Lan ultimately uses Cheng Shenlv is not something Zhou Yun can decide.

The only thing Zhou Yun can do is put Cheng Shenlv in front of Director Cong Lan and get him to seriously consider her.

In the end, Director Cong Lan asked Cheng Shenlv to come in for an audition in a couple of days. This was the best possible outcome for tonight.

When Zhou Yun was saying goodbye to Director Cong Lan, he said, ”Xiao Yun, don’t just keep recommending people to me. If there’s a suitable project, we still need to work together again.”

Zhou Yun nodded and said, ”Once isn’t enough. We have to work together many more times.”

Cong Lan laughed.

”There aren’t that many good scripts out there.”

”Director, you should look harder. If there are any scripts that suit me, I’ll also look around. If I find something suitable, I’ll recommend it to you,” Zhou Yun said. ”I didn’t get my fill last time when we shot Dingfengbo.”
