Chapter 245: Chapter 199: Sensation! Themed Seminar by Top Pharmaceutical Companies and the HHMI Research Institute (Part 2)

The government has always strongly encouraged industry-academia partnerships that facilitate the commercialization of research. Dean Song placed great importance on this kind of collaboration with a top-tier team from Pfizer Pharmaceutical. It was also an excellent opportunity for publicity and to showcase their work to faculty and students.

After Dean Song finished his call with President Xie of Pfizer Pharmaceutical, more calls came flooding in, as if on cue.

Even for someone as experienced and worldly as Dean Song, this came as a pleasant surprise.

Two more top-tier pharmaceutical giants, Johnson & Johnson and GSK, also called. After Dean Song ”accidentally” let slip the news about Pfizer, both teams expressed their desire to hold academic seminars at Jinggang University Medical College. They also offered to provide a number of high-paying, targeted positions!

Of course, both teams had the same request: they wanted Dr. Wu Ting and Professor Shen Siyuan specially invited as guest speakers for the seminars. Furthermore, they hoped Dean Song would provide an official introduction and help them connect with Dr. Wu Ting afterward.

After arranging seminars with these two pharmaceutical giants as well, Dean Song heaved a long sigh of relief. This time, thanks to Wu Ting, Jinggang University Medical College was about to make a huge splash in the academic world.

The next big problem was how to schedule the seminars for these three top-tier pharmaceutical groups.

It was a good problem to have. But first, Dean Song needed to give Wu Ting and Shen Siyuan a heads-up. After all, they were the ones who had been specifically requested as special guests.

To put it another way, these presentations and seminars by the three pharmaceutical companies were really just a show for Wu Ting. They were meant to awe and impress him with their corporate financial might and research prowess.

’What an incredible young man.’

Dean Song couldn’t help but feel a little envious. To be so celebrated at such a young and brilliant age!

But it wasn’t over yet.

A moment later, Dean Song received two more calls.

The first was from Professor Lin Ning of the Southern Country HHMI Research Institute. Unlike the three pharmaceutical companies, Professor Lin wasn’t driven by commercial interests. He was more interested in observing and engaging in academic exchange.

Professor Lin’s main purpose was to visit Wu Ting and evaluate his project. After some artful persuasion from Dean Song, he also agreed to give a solo academic presentation.

Naturally, Professor Lin Ning also invited Wu Ting to attend as a special guest. He proposed holding an academic ”duel of wits” with Wu Ting on immunology theory during the event!

Wu Ting’s representative theory was, of course, ”The Negative Immune Regulatory Mechanism of Single Immunoglobulin Interleukin-1 Receptor-Related Protein in the Curative Therapy of Chronic Hepatitis B-Associated Primary Hepatocellular Carcinoma.”

Professor Lin, on the other hand, would be sharing his ”IKK Complex Theory!”

Professor Lin Ning was greatly looking forward to the intellectual sparring with Wu Ting.

Dean Song hadn’t expected this. For Wu Ting to be held in such high esteem by a titan of the field—it was practically a dialogue between equals!

It was the kind of opportunity that made even Dean Song a little envious!

The final call was from a more modest suitor: the local Jin Pharmaceutical Group from Fan City. They also wanted to hold a seminar at Jinggang University Medical College, and they were also coming for Wu Ting.

Dean Song only reluctantly agreed, partly because Jin Pharmaceutical Group was willing to cover event expenses and offer a number of high-paying jobs, but mostly as a favor to Professor Jin.

After confirming the arrangements with the pharmaceutical groups and Professor Lin Ning, Dean Song hung up the phone, his mind already racing.

Finally, he landed on a truly brilliant plan.

He would combine all the pharmaceutical companies and Professor Lin Ning into a single, grand event.

And what’s more, he would schedule Wu Ting’s master’s thesis defense for the morning, hold the series of lectures in the afternoon, and cap it all off with a celebratory banquet in the evening where everyone could mingle.

’I’m a planning genius,’ Dean Song thought, thoroughly impressed with himself.

The result was an absolutely epic schedule:

Morning: Wu Ting’s final thesis defense, featuring a showcase of the all-star expert panel.

Afternoon (in order): A presentation from Jin Pharmaceutical Group, complete with high-paying contract offers. A presentation from GSK Group, complete with high-paying contract offers. A presentation from Johnson & Johnson Pharmaceutical Group, complete with high-paying contract offers. A presentation from Pfizer Pharmaceutical Group, complete with high-paying contract offers. And to cap it off, the academic duel of wits between Professor Lin Ning and Wu Ting!

And for the grand finale: Wu Ting and Shen Siyuan would announce which collaboration offer they had decided to accept.

The plan perfectly integrated academics, research, student benefits, industry influence, suspense, and high drama.

Moreover, the beneficiaries included Jinggang University Medical College, all its faculty and students, and of course, Wu Ting’s team!

Everything Dean Song was doing was to give Wu Ting the grandest stage possible, to help craft the beginning of a legendary career for him.

When Dean Song laid out the plan for Wu Ting and Shen Siyuan, they were both stunned. After hearing all the details, they became just as excited.

After getting the green light from Wu Ting and Shen Siyuan, Dean Song informed the various pharmaceutical companies and Professor Lin Ning’s team of the new, consolidated plan.

Since they were all coming for Wu Ting anyway, they were happy to go along with the host’s arrangements. In fact, such a grand, combined seminar only stoked their competitive spirits and sense of rivalry.

Of course, everyone privately agreed that in this lineup, Jin Pharmaceutical Group was just the cannon fodder—there to provide funding and serve as the warm-up act. Their only real advantage was playing on home turf.
