Chapter 237: Chapter 196: The Paper’s Results Cause a Sensation! Pfizer and Johnson & Johnson Seek Cooperation

Of course, besides Pfizer, two other top-ten global pharmaceutical companies, Johnson & Johnson and GSK, had also dispatched dedicated negotiation teams.

「At the same time.」

Chairman Jin Yihong of the Jin Pharmaceutical Group, having waited for many days, finally received the major news from the official *Cell* website.

”Professor Lin was telling the truth. The official websites of *Cell* and HHMI announced the news simultaneously, giving the young scientist’s paper high praise!”

Jin Yihong convened her executive team to begin deliberations on this major project.

This was a board-level project; even Deng Feifei was not qualified to attend.

Jin Yihong presented the *Cell* paper and Wu Ting’s background information.

”Let’s hear it. What are your thoughts on this paper, its research findings, and the young scientist himself? What course of action should we take?”

Jin Yihong already had a preliminary idea, but she still wanted to hear the opinions of the others.

Yang Kejie, the vice chairman of Jin Pharmaceutical Group and head of the Strategic R&D Department, had a vast network of connections in related domestic fields, as well as numerous informants.

The sensation caused by Wu Ting’s paper had attracted the attention of a great many top-tier teams.

”Chairman Jin, fellow board members, after this article was published on the official *Cell* website, I followed your prior instructions and moved as quickly as possible to gather background information on this young scientist, as well as the reactions of major research institutes and pharmaceutical companies, both domestic and international.”

”Personally, I am pessimistic about our company’s chances of reaching a collaboration agreement with this scientist, Wu Ting.”

”Of course, there is some good news. The author of the paper, Wu Ting, is currently a master’s student at Jinggang University Medical College. He studies under Professor Shen Siyuan, a protégé of Professor Ye Xin, the leading authority on immunology in Jin Country... Wu Ting’s own resume is rather simple; he’s like a comet that appeared out of nowhere... He has no prior accomplishments in the fields of immunology or liver tumors...”

”Therefore, in my judgment, while the young scientist Wu Ting is the face of this achievement, the influence of Shen Siyuan and Professor Ye Xin is certainly behind it. It’s even possible they’re the ones who led this entire project.”

”The good news is that our group has always maintained a good relationship with Professor Shen Siyuan and Professor Ye Xin, which might give us a slight edge. However, I don’t believe that alone will be a game-changer. After all, the market for this breakthrough in primary liver cancer is simply enormous.”

”The results of Wu Ting’s paper are a blockbuster achievement that has sent shockwaves through the international community. Consequently, our competitors now include top-tier research institutes and pharmaceutical companies from around the world.”

”From what I know, besides Professor Lin Ning’s team from the HHMI Research Institute and the Deng Fujiu Team from the John Innes Research Institute in Yun Country, even Pfizer Pharmaceutical Company, Johnson & Johnson, and GSK have dispatched elite teams. Xie Bin, the President of the Pfizer Jin Country Region, is personally leading the charge to our very own Xiao City...”

”Compared to these top-tier research institutes and pharmaceutical companies, I don’t think our group stands much of a chance...”

After Yang Kejie finished his analysis, the other board members expressed their agreement, feeling they didn’t have much chance of securing the collaboration.

Jin Yihong hadn’t expected Wu Ting’s achievement to attract the attention of so many top-tier research institutes and corporate giants like Pfizer Pharmaceutical and Johnson & Johnson Pharmaceutical.

Although Jin Pharmaceutical Group was a decent up-and-coming pharmaceutical group domestically, it couldn’t compare to the likes of Pfizer and Johnson & Johnson.

Even if they offered identical terms, any research team would be unlikely to choose Jin Pharmaceutical Group.

Unless there had been a prior agreement before Wu Ting’s team published their sensational paper, or they had provided crucial, timely funding for the project, why would Jin Pharmaceutical Group be the one to reap the rewards?

Just as Jin Yihong and the others were growing disappointed and preparing to give up on the collaboration, one of the directors, Bai Shu, discovered a curious piece of information.

”Chairman Jin, perhaps there’s still a chance.”

”Look at this—the registered research project for Wu Ting’s team at the Jinggang University Medical School Graduate Department.”

”The title of this project is ’Systemic Curative Therapy for HBV-Related Primary Carcinoma: A Study of Phases One, Two, Three, and Four.’ Wu Ting’s paper, the one that caused an international academic sensation, is just a core mechanism within the second phase of this very project.”

”The research grant application for this project was for only one yuan; the project was self-funded by Wu Ting’s team. And in the detailed description of the research group, it lists the collaborating partners.”

”The relevant departments of Jinggang University Affiliated First Hospital, the Fan City First Hospital Hepatobiliary Surgery Department, and... our very own Jin Pharmaceutical Group!”

Even Bai Shu himself found it somewhat hard to believe.

Jin Yihong was also in disbelief:

”What is this? When did our group get involved in this project with Wu Ting’s team?”

”Who here handled this?”

In response, all the board members indicated they were unaware of it.

”President Jin, collaborations on projects like this are handled by the R&D Department. And the manager of the R&D Department is your daughter, Deng Feifei.”

”Is it possible Manager Deng arranged this collaboration?”

The head of the finance department on the board immediately contacted their subordinates and quickly received a definitive answer.

”President Jin, it must have been Manager Deng’s decision. The R&D department does indeed have an expenditure of three million, noted as ’startup capital funding,’ and the recipient account belongs to none other than Wu Ting of the Jinggang University Medical School Graduate Department!”

Upon hearing that this was truly Deng Feifei’s stroke of genius, everyone at Jin Pharmaceutical Group was ecstatic.

If this was really the case, didn’t it mean that amidst the competition from so many top-tier research institutes and pharmaceutical companies, Jin Pharmaceutical Group actually had a glimmer of hope?

”Have Manager Deng join this meeting at once.”

Jin Yihong was also pleasantly surprised. Her daughter had truly rendered a great service this time.

However, she was also a little puzzled. ’What is Feifei’s relationship with this Wu Ting?’
