Doctor: I Can Synthesize Infinite Entries

Chapter 201: Chapter 180: It’s All Thanks to Dr. Wu’s Teaching

Director Fu, however, was in high spirits. He recognized the contrast agent at a glance and praised it enthusiastically:

”Director Ma, this is a non-ionic contrast agent that our Haijin Port team was the first to introduce. It causes very little damage to liver function and has many advantages.”

”It’s just that we only recently rolled out this contrast agent ourselves. We were originally planning to showcase it at this year’s hepatobiliary surgery conference. I didn’t expect Director Zhang to be so on top of the latest developments, already putting it to use.”

”Director Ma, this Director Zhang is truly a rare talent.”

Director Fu’s estimation of Zhang Heng rose yet again!

Standing to the side, Liu Xingye was also filled with admiration. This kind of open-minded willingness to learn from all sources and keep up with the times was an approach to research worthy of emulation.

Hearing the praise from Director Fu and the others, Director Ma had mixed feelings. Zhang Heng was his former subordinate, after all. He was happy that Zhang Heng was doing better and better, of course, but the thought that he had gone to City First Hospital left him with a touch of regret.

Still, Director Ma couldn’t help but wonder. Zhang Heng’s progress in transcatheter arterial chemoembolization was just too fast.

’Could it be because of his recent trip to the City First Hospital Research Center?’

Director Ma hadn’t had much of an impression of Fan City First Hospital before. In the field of surgery there, only Huo Yun had some renown, and his focus was on emergency medicine.

In hepatic tumor surgery, they didn’t have anyone particularly outstanding. He had originally assumed that Zhang Heng’s arrival would make him their main pillar, the standard-bearer for City First Hospital in this field. He never expected the hospital to be a den of crouching tigers and hidden dragons. Otherwise, how could Zhang Heng have improved so dramatically all of a sudden?

’But who could have guided him?’

Director Ma was quite perceptive. Based on Director Fu’s reaction, it definitely wasn’t him. That meant it had to be a renowned doctor from one of the three top-tier platforms backing the research center.

’Director Shen Xiaofei? Or Professor Shen Guofeng? Or perhaps someone from Union.’

Director Ma decided then and there to lead his own team to the City First Hospital Research Center for an observation and exchange visit.

Amidst the two directors’ praise, Zhang Heng went on to demonstrate many more improved techniques in the subsequent steps of the operation. The entire procedure was performed to perfection.

Gu Xiaodong, meanwhile, watched from the side without uttering a single word. He was completely crushed.

His own demonstration was over before it had even begun. He knew he no longer had the gall to invite these experts to observe his own surgery.

’Better to just wait and do my surgeries quietly on my own later.’

Gu Xiaodong just didn’t understand. Hadn’t Zhang Heng gone to Fan City First Hospital? Why did it feel like he had just returned from advanced studies in Qinghe City?

’Could it be that the City First Hospital Research Center has some kind of hidden master?’

While Gu Xiaodong was still trying to puzzle it out, the surgery concluded.

After seeing to the patient’s post-operative care, everyone returned to the conference room for a debriefing and discussion.

Zhang Heng, brimming with confidence, looked at the assembled doctors, his gaze lingering on the dejected Gu Xiaodong.

”Director Gu, I was wondering if you had any comments or suggestions?”

Facing Zhang Heng’s confident and domineering gaze, how could Gu Xiaodong possibly offer any criticism?

”Director Zhang, I can’t believe that in just a few days, your transcatheter arterial chemoembolization technique has reached such a level. I readily admit my inferiority. I’m truly impressed!”

Gu Xiaodong could only bow his head in defeat.

Director Ma and Director Fu also began to praise Zhang Heng’s surgery. After a round of compliments, Director Fu voiced his curiosity.

”Director Zhang, many of the techniques and methods in this surgery of yours are similar to the research findings of our Haijin Port team. However, we have no recollection of you coming to train with us. When did you become so proficient with the Tumor Hospital’s techniques?”

Director Fu asked bluntly.

Beside him, Director Ma was also very eager to know the answer.

Zhang Heng blushed, a little embarrassed, but he still admitted it openly.

”In a way, you could consider me half a disciple of yours, Director Fu. It was a case of a master teaching on another’s behalf.”

”The one who taught me these signature techniques was Dr. Wu Ting of the City First Hospital Research Center.”

Zhang Heng was too embarrassed to call Wu Ting his master, otherwise that would make Director Fu his grandmaster. He could only frame it as Wu Ting teaching him on Director Fu’s behalf.

”Wu Ting?”

Hearing Wu Ting’s name, Director Fu was also quite surprised.

Liu Xingye had a deep impression of Wu Ting, but even he didn’t know Wu Ting was so incredible at transcatheter arterial chemoembolization that he had not only mastered Director Fu’s techniques but could also teach them to others on his behalf.

”So it was Dr. Wu. No wonder, no wonder.”

”Dr. Wu is, indeed, the most clinically gifted young surgeon I have ever seen.”

Director Fu held Wu Ting in the highest esteem. The more he interacted with him, the more amazed and impressed he became.

Moreover, he found Zhang Heng’s words very pleasing and tacitly accepted the notion that he had taught Wu Ting transcatheter arterial chemoembolization.

’In that case, haven’t I become his master without lifting a finger?’

’In the future, the more amazing Wu Ting becomes and the more brightly he shines, I’ll be remembered as one of the masters from his formative years. That would be a great honor.’

When Liu Xingye saw Director Fu’s reaction, his heart skipped a beat. ’When did Director Fu secretly teach Wu Ting?’

He was filled with envy. ’Director Fu personally gave him private lessons!’

He also knew that over in Hepatic Tumor Surgery, Director Shen Xiaofei often expressed his regret at not having become Wu Ting’s mentor.

’This Dr. Wu is really something else. It’s always medical students begging for a supervisor; when have you ever seen the top dogs chasing after a student to mentor?’

Hearing Director Fu praise him so highly, Zhang Heng was also taken by surprise. He hadn’t expected Dr. Wu to have such great influence and reputation in Haijin Port.

Director Ma quickly joined the discussion as well.

Gu Xiaodong, on the other hand, wore a look of utter disbelief. He had never even heard of this Dr. Wu they were all discussing.

Zhang Heng hadn’t expected it either. What was supposed to be a showcase of his own surgical skills had somehow turned into a praise-fest for Wu Ting.

”Director Zhang, your progress at Fan City First Hospital recently has been immense. It has also given me a new perspective on City First Hospital.”

”I was thinking, we could use this connection through you as an opportunity for our team from the Jin Province Tumor Hospital’s Hepatic Tumor Surgery department to conduct an observation and exchange visit at City First Hospital.”

The idea had come to Director Ma on a whim; he was suddenly very eager to meet this Dr. Wu who had earned such high praise from both Director Fu and Dr. Liu.

”That’s an excellent idea,” Director Fu chimed in. ”In that case, Dr. Liu and I will go along with you.”

Zhang Heng and Guo Guoguo exchanged a glance, not having expected events to take such a turn.

”Then let’s arrange an observation and exchange visit at the City First Hospital Research Center.”

Zhang Heng readily agreed, his mind already racing. For him, this was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

’After all, to his colleagues at City First Hospital, it would look like he was the one who brought these experts and professors over.’

’This was also a way to demonstrate his influence.’

’Wu Ting, I suppose I’m riding your coattails this time.’

Zhang Heng thought for a moment:

’When I get back and get EST up and running, I’ll make sure to diligently teach it to Wu Ting. It’ll be a proper exchange, a way to repay him for teaching me the improved transcatheter arterial chemoembolization technique.’

...

...

While Zhang Heng was leading the top-tier observation teams from the Jin Province Tumor Hospital and Jinggang University Affiliated First Hospital to City First Hospital, Wu Ting returned from Xiao City to the research center at Fan City First Hospital.
