Doctor: I Can Synthesize Infinite Entries

Chapter 244: Chapter 199: Sensation! Themed Lecture by a Top Pharmaceutical Company and the HHMI Research Institute

Shen Siyuan hadn’t expected Director Han from the National Natural Science Foundation Committee to personally contact them about an inspection so quickly.

Her own professor truly admired Wu Ting. Shen Siyuan found herself feeling a bit envious.

”Director Han, we’re preparing to conclude Wu Ting’s current project. For various reasons, we’ve decided to adjust its scope. We will wrap up this project using the results from the first two phases of the research on a radical cure for HBV-related primary liver cancer, which will allow Wu Ting to get his master’s degree. As for phases three and four, they have higher requirements and need much more funding. Therefore, we plan to launch those as a separate, new endeavor—a long-term, in-depth research project for the team.”

This had been the plan Wu Ting and Shen Siyuan had laid out from the very beginning.

After hearing Shen Siyuan’s reasoning, Director Han assumed this was a plan arranged between her and Professor Ye: phases one and two would be completed at Jinggang University Medical College, while subsequent research would be moved to Professor Ye’s own research center.

Director Han considered this.

”In that case, our foundation’s funding is even more suitable for your further research in phases three and four. Regardless of where you conduct your subsequent research or how you go about it, I must make a trip to see it.”

Seizing the opportunity, Shen Siyuan asked:

”In that case, Director Han, would you be interested in joining the expert panel for Wu Ting’s project defense? We’ve already confirmed my mentor, Professor Ye; the director of the BIO-X Life Science Research Center, Professor Deng Fujiu; and Dean Chen from the Xianglin City Xuanshang University Affiliated Tumor Hospital.”

Director Han was well aware of the significance and value of Wu Ting’s research. Participating in the project’s defense panel would also be an acknowledgment of his own status and standing.

”Of course. It would be an honor. I’ll see you in Fan City!”

According to the policies of the Jinggang University Medical School Graduate School, a project’s final review required an expert panel of no fewer than five members with senior professional titles to conduct the evaluation.

Professor Deng Fujiu, Director Han Yu, Vice Dean Chen Bofeng, Professor Ye Xin, and Dean Song—that made exactly five people. It was already a dream team!

After finalizing the list for the expert panel, Shen Siyuan immediately reported it to Dean Song.

Dean Song was both surprised and immensely honored to hear that so many top-tier experts would be participating in the project defense. After all, Wu Ting was a student of his graduate school. Such prestige was an honor for the graduate school itself.

Dean Song personally made the arrangements, scheduling Wu Ting’s project defense for that Friday.

Just as Dean Song was reflecting on this, his phone rang again. The name on the caller ID was quite a surprise.

Xie Bin, the president of the Pfizer Jin Country Region!

Xie Bin didn’t have Wu Ting’s personal contact information, nor did he want to make a private approach. He was representing a top-tier pharmaceutical company, Pfizer, so he decided to take a top-down approach.

Of course, Xie Bin also had the image of a top international company to uphold. For his trip to Xiao City, he planned to make a grand entrance.

Thus, Xie Bin proposed a form of collaboration to Dean Song that would be highly beneficial for both parties.

Xie Bin proposed that he, representing Pfizer Pharmaceutical Company, would come to Jinggang University Medical College to hold a large-scale seminar. In addition to publicizing Pfizer’s latest research, they would also offer a number of high-paying positions to the medical college’s students.

By acting this way, Xie Bin was, of course, projecting an image to Wu Ting of Pfizer Company’s deep pockets and profound international influence.

Then, under the cover of this promotional event, he would have Dean Song privately introduce him to Wu Ting to discuss a business partnership.

To that end, Xie Bin specifically requested that Dr. Wu Ting and Professor Shen Siyuan be invited to the seminar as special guests.

Xie Bin already had a few plans in mind:

One option was to poach Wu Ting’s team directly for Pfizer’s R&D division. Another was a deep collaboration: jointly establishing a dedicated laboratory for Wu Ting with Jinggang University Medical College, with Pfizer providing the funding, equipment, and all related R&D support.

From any perspective, Xie Bin was extremely confident. After all, Pfizer’s reputation and influence were top-tier, both internationally and within the country, and they were not afraid to spend money.

Dean Song was both surprised and delighted after learning about Xie Bin’s plan.

Even a top-tier institution like Jinggang University Medical College would find it difficult to refuse an offer of deep collaboration from Pfizer.

Dean Song was also happy for Wu Ting. With Pfizer’s support, his future research would proceed much more smoothly.

Of course, the best-case scenario for Dean Song was for Wu Ting to remain in Haijin Port, with Jinggang University Medical College and Pfizer Pharmaceutical jointly investing to create a dedicated laboratory for his research on HBV-related primary liver cancer.

Dean Song had also considered Wu Ting’s personal development. Once Wu Ting graduated, he could easily join the Jinggang University Affiliated First Hospital.

In addition to his clinical work, Wu Ting could also be given a part-time teaching position at Jinggang University. The young man had so many possibilities.

However, it all depended on Wu Ting’s own choices. Having worked with him multiple times, Dean Song knew that despite his youth, Wu Ting had a sharp mind and his own firm opinions.

Soon, Dean Song and Pfizer Pharmaceutical finalized the details for the collaborative seminar between Jinggang University Medical College and Pfizer Pharmaceutical.
