Doctor: I Can Synthesize Infinite Entries

Chapter 239: Chapter 197: Professor Ye Xin’s Gift to His Grand-disciple Wu Ting (2)

”Actually, before I decided to invest in this project, I had only met Dr. Wu Ting once.”

”Our first meeting was at Professor Jin’s Q&A session at the Jinggang University School of Life Sciences... Dr. Wu Ting asked a profound and esoteric question. Among all the master’s students, PhDs, and young professors there, he was the very first to step forward and ask a question...”

Deng Feifei described the scene vividly, perfectly conveying Dr. Wu Ting’s calm confidence, his air of assurance, and his formidable academic prowess.

She also faithfully relayed Professor Jin’s assessment and admiration for Wu Ting.

After she finished describing their first meeting, the board of directors was moved by her words.

They also grew curious about and impressed by the young doctor’s charisma.

Jin Yihong also developed a deep interest in this Wu Ting. With her husband, Professor Jin, and their daughter, Deng Feifei, both holding him in such high regard, she wanted to meet this Wu Ting for herself.

The crowd listened without interrupting as Deng Feifei began describing their second meeting.

”The second meeting was actually facilitated by Professor Shen Siyuan. They first sent us the project overview and research proposal. After Professor Jin reviewed them, he suggested that I build a good relationship with Dr. Wu Ting.”

”To that end, I offered him a package even more generous than the three million in startup funding... But unfortunately, Dr. Wu Ting rejected it without hesitation. He only accepted the three million in startup funding.”

”However, in return, he made a gentleman’s agreement with me. As long as his research yields results, he will give us, the Jin Pharmaceutical Group, priority for collaboration, all other conditions being equal!”

”Therefore, I believe investing in Dr. Wu Ting was reasonable and justified. Furthermore, given the circumstances at the time, I felt a verbal agreement was the best approach. I originally intended to report this to Chairman Jin, but you were away in the Southern Country, so I used my own authority.”

”Of course, I also admit my mistake, which was acting solely on my trust in Dr. Wu Ting’s character and settling for only a verbal agreement.”

”If the board finds fault with this investment, I am willing to accept punishment. You can deduct it from my salary. However, I stand by my decision to cooperate with Dr. Wu Ting. I also believe that Dr. Wu Ting will bring a wonderful surprise to the Jin Pharmaceutical Group.”

Since things had already come to this, Deng Feifei decided to just state her thoughts frankly.

No matter what, she believed in her own judgment and in Wu Ting’s ability.

Seeing the resolute look in Deng Feifei’s eyes, Jin Yihong was surprised. She hadn’t expected Deng Feifei to have had such in-depth exchanges with Wu Ting, nor that her own daughter was so decisive and had such good judgment.

The corners of Jin Yihong’s mouth turned up slightly. She was in a good mood, but she didn’t state her position, instead tossing the matter to the board.

”What does everyone think?”

What did they think?

The board members, of course, thought it was time to applaud!

”Manager Deng, the apple truly doesn’t fall far from the tree! What incredible boldness and foresight!”

”Indeed, Manager Deng’s stroke of genius has truly given our Jin Pharmaceutical Group a massive opportunity.”

”But this Dr. Wu really is a man of both outstanding character and talent. To be able to refuse such generous terms—a one-million-yuan consulting fee, a house, and a car—before his paper even produced results... I imagine very few people could turn down an offer like that at such a young age.”

”That’s why this Dr. Wu Ting is truly a remarkable person.”

The board members all expressed their admiration and respect for Wu Ting, as well as their praise for Deng Feifei.

Deng Feifei: ”???”

’Weren’t they here to grill me?’

”Chairman Jin, what on earth is going on?”

Jin Yihong laughed heartily.

”Feifei, you’ve truly performed a great service this time. The results from this Dr. Wu Ting you invested in are about to shake the heavens!”

”It’s no wonder you don’t know. After all, news of this achievement is currently only circulating among the upper echelons of academic and business circles abroad. If it weren’t for a fortunate coincidence and a tip from Professor Lin Ning, we wouldn’t have even noticed this.”

Jin Yihong quickly explained that Wu Ting had published a feature article in *Cell* and that his work had been reviewed and recommended on the official HHMI Research Institute website.

After hearing this, Deng Feifei was also stunned.

”This Wu Ting is that amazing?!”

Deng Feifei never would have imagined that Wu Ting’s research results would come so quickly and be so earth-shattering.

The thought of that young, handsome, and cheerful doctor made Deng Feifei’s heart skip a beat.

”On behalf of the board of directors, I hereby announce the immediate formation of a special negotiation team. I am appointing Manager Deng Feifei of the R&D department as the team leader, with full authority to handle all matters concerning business cooperation with Dr. Wu Ting’s research group...”

”Of course, our competition this time will be top-tier international players, including the likes of Johnson & Johnson, Pfizer, and even the HHMI team. But we have our own unique advantages... Deng Feifei, I am giving you the highest level of authority to negotiate with Wu Ting’s team on behalf of the Jin Pharmaceutical Group.”

This authorization from Jin Yihong was also a test for Deng Feifei. If she could successfully beat out those rivals, it would be a significant boost for her when she eventually takes over the company.

Deng Feifei hadn’t even processed it all yet, but she was now in charge of business negotiations with Wu Ting. According to the authority Jin Yihong had granted her, the terms she could offer were terrifying—on the order of hundreds of millions!

Of course, this also showed just how valuable Wu Ting’s project was.

「Qinghe City.」

Union Medical College, Immunotherapy Center.

Professor Ye Xin had also taken notice of this paper in *Cell* and its author, Wu Ting.

Ye Xin knew that his own student, Shen Siyuan, had taken on this student. He had even heard Shen Siyuan praise him. He just never expected this ”grand-student” of his to be so brilliant as to publish such an influential paper.

Ye Xin was a titan in the field of immunology in Jin Country.

A scientist for the National 973 Program in Immunology...

Recipient of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars...

Second prize winner of the National Science and Technology Progress Award...

Winner of the *Nature* Award for Mentoring in Science, Lifetime Achievement...

Winner of the Tan Jiazheng Life Science Achievement Award...

Director of the Department of Immunology at Union Medical College, concurrent Director of the National Key Laboratory of Immunology and Gene Therapy, member of the National Health Commission... Deputy Director of the Committee for Tumor Immunology and Biotherapy of the Jin Country Society for Immunology...

Professor Ye’s field of research was the immunology of dendritic cells and the immunotherapy and gene therapy of tumors. He had conducted in-depth, innovative basic research and clinical application studies, discovered a new cell subpopulation with important immunoregulatory functions, and proposed a new mechanism for immune regulation...

As a corresponding author, he had published over 260 SCI papers in journals such as *Cell*, *Nature*, *Science*, *Nature Immunology*, and *Cancer Cell*, with over 10,000 citations...

After seeing Wu Ting’s paper, even a giant of this caliber was moved by a desire to cherish such talent.

Professor Ye Xin directly contacted the National Natural Science Foundation Committee to make a recommendation.

Given his status, he was of course qualified to recommend someone for a designated key project of the National Natural Science Foundation, a type of project that couldn’t be compared to a youth fund.

This kind of designated key project could receive funding in the tens of millions!

Professor Ye putting in such an effort was, of course, a gift to his grand-student.

With Professor Ye’s expertise in the field of immunology, he clearly understood the potential and significance of Wu Ting’s project. In a way, he was making a preemptive move; it was perfectly justifiable for him to recommend and secure a project for his own grand-student’s research.

After contacting them and completing the recommendation, Professor Ye also prepared to make a personal trip to Xiao City to see his student, Shen Siyuan, and this far more promising grand-student, Wu Ting.

After Professor Ye Xin used his connections and his power of recommendation to propose Wu Ting’s team to the National Natural Science Foundation Committee and secure a designated key project slot, the foundation prepared to dispatch a representative to conduct an inspection.

The person dispatched this time was Deputy Director Han Yu, a member of the National Natural Science Foundation Committee who also served as its Deputy Director and Secretary-General.

As a high-level national entity, the foundation operates relatively independently, legally managing the National Natural Science Fund and overseeing funding plans, project creation, review, approval, and supervision.

Having Director Han come to inspect in person was, in itself, an extraordinary achievement.
