Chapter 221: Chapter 191: Business Negotiation with Jin Pharmaceutical Group (3)

Shen Siyuan led Wu Ting into the quiet, private clubhouse.

The entire clubhouse was designed as a New Chinese-style garden, exuding an elegant atmosphere.

After entering the main courtyard, they saw that the sculpted garden trees alone were worth millions apiece. The antique decorations were museum-quality.

In short, it could be summed up in one word: extravagant!

Shen Siyuan was quite familiar with the clubhouse. Her mentor, Professor Ye, and Professor Jin were both titans in the field of immunology and were the closest of friends. Because of this, Shen Siyuan was also very close to the Jin Family.

The two had only been walking for a moment when a stunning beauty with the proportions of a model strode over to meet them.

It was none other than Deng Feifei, Professor Jin’s memorable teaching assistant from the School of Life Sciences.

Deng Feifei greeted the two, her gaze on Wu Ting filled with both curiosity and admiration.

Yesterday, Shen Siyuan had sent Wu Ting’s literature review and research proposal to Deng Feifei. After printing them out, Deng Feifei had gone to see her maternal grandfather, Professor Jin.

After reading them, Professor Jin had been incredibly excited. His assessment of Wu Ting was: ’This young man’s future is limitless.’

Professor Jin was extremely supportive of Jin Pharmaceutical Group collaborating with Wu Ting. He suggested that even without a concrete project yet, they should invite Wu Ting to be a consultant for the company to establish a friendly relationship first.

Deng Feifei had discussed this potential collaboration with her grandfather and was now personally in charge of handling it.

After all, funding a graduate student’s research project was a relatively minor matter, well within her authority at the company.

Her mother, the chairman of such a massive pharmaceutical group, wouldn’t concern herself with such small details.

Her mother, Jin Yihong, was currently abroad on a business trip, negotiating a project collaboration with the top-tier Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI) in the United States.

HHMI is a non-profit medical research institute in the United States, founded in 1953 by the famous aviator and engineer Howard Hughes.

It is one of the largest private funding organizations for biological and medical research in the United States. Its purpose is to conduct basic research and explore the very origins of life.

The HHMI charter states: ”The Howard Hughes Medical Institute shall promote human knowledge within the boundaries of basic sciences (principally the fields of medical research and medical education) and the effective application thereof for the benefit of humanity.”

The purpose of Jin Yihong’s trip to HHMI was to acquire the research findings of one of its investigators. The result of this research was a ”cytokine immunotherapy” that was one-of-a-kind in the world.

This immunotherapy held enormous potential for developing a completely new set of systematic therapeutic equipment and related new drugs.

This was Jin Pharmaceutical Group’s biggest potential project recently, so Deng Feifei didn’t want to bother the chairman with her own minor affair.

Deng Feifei spoke to Wu Ting with grace and confidence:

”Dr. Wu, we meet again.”

At the same time, she extended a hand and gave Wu Ting a warm, friendly handshake.

Wu Ting knew this was his future patron, so naturally, he was very polite.

It had to be said, Deng Feifei was a top-tier beauty with a stunning face and figure. Even her hands were like those of a concert pianist—slender, white, and smooth.

After exchanging some pleasantries, Deng Feifei led the two into a waterside pavilion and personally brewed tea for them.

Deng Feifei appeared very patient, chatting idly with Shen Siyuan while also engaging Wu Ting in conversation.

As expected of a top student, her words conveyed a natural beauty born of profound learning.

They chatted for a while and drank their tea.

Only then did Deng Feifei turn to Shen Siyuan to discuss the research project. However, Deng Feifei showed no intention of haggling.

”Professor Shen, Dr. Wu, I’ve already shown your research paper and literature review to my grandfather.”

”The funding Professor Shen requested is not a problem at all. Furthermore, as the project progresses, I will provide subsequent funding based on its progress and results.”

”Actually, my purpose for inviting Dr. Wu here today isn’t just about this one project.”

”I hope to get to know Dr. Wu and become friends.”

”So, on behalf of Jin Pharmaceutical Group, here is the invitation I’d like to extend to Dr. Wu.”

”For Dr. Wu’s project, I will provide the initial first-stage startup capital: three million!”

”At the same time, I would like to invite Dr. Wu to become a medical consultant for Jin Pharmaceutical Group, providing theoretical and technical support in the interdisciplinary field of immunology and hepatic oncology.”

”Dr. Wu would not be required to work at our group’s offices. We would only ask that you provide technical support and prioritize technical cooperation with our group at key junctures and critical times.”

”In addition to the project funding, I am willing to sign a consultant contract with Dr. Wu, with an annual expert consultant fee of 500,000.”

”Also, I’ve looked into Dr. Wu’s situation and know that you frequently travel back and forth between Xiao City and Fan City. To allow you to focus more on your academic research...”

”...our group is willing to provide a large, high-end apartment near Jinggang University Affiliated First Hospital for your use.”

”Of course, we will also provide Dr. Wu with a car to make your future travels more convenient.”

Deng Feifei had clearly investigated and understood Wu Ting’s circumstances.

Although Wu Ting’s family were natives of Fan City and had benefited from a demolition and relocation compensation, buying a large, high-end apartment in Xiao City would still be a financial strain for him. That was why she offered the free use of an apartment.

Hearing the terms Deng Feifei laid out, even Shen Siyuan was a little surprised.

She hadn’t expected Professor Jin to think so highly of Wu Ting.

There was startup capital, a free apartment, a car, and on top of that, a consultant contract paying 500,000 a year for doing almost nothing.

Of course, Shen Siyuan understood that what Professor Jin valued wasn’t Wu Ting’s current project, but Wu Ting himself.

He valued Wu Ting’s future potential in scientific research!

For an ordinary doctor, this would be a top-tier compensation package. But Shen Siyuan knew that for the priority rights to collaborate with a scientist of limitless research potential, this amount of money was nothing.

Both Deng Feifei and Shen Siyuan looked at Wu Ting.

How would this young man choose?
