Doctor: I Can Synthesize Infinite Entries

Chapter 205: Chapter 184: Invitations from 2 Big Shots, Offering Funding and Resources

After this surgery, Director Ma was filled with curiosity about Wu Ting.

’This young man is truly incredible!’

This trip to Fan City was indeed a huge gain. Just witnessing the debut of Wu Ting’s ESPBD—Endoscopic Sphincterotomy with Papillary Balloon Dilation—had already made the trip worthwhile.

When Director Fu and Wu Ting came out, everyone welcomed them with a round of applause.

”Dr. Wu, this visit to the City First Hospital Research Center has truly been enlightening for us. We’re very impressed.”

Director Ma’s attitude toward Wu Ting had completely changed. He shook his hand, overcome with excitement.

”Dr. Wu, Director Huo, would we have the honor of touring your research center? We’d like our team to learn from you.”

Huo Yun could also feel Director Ma’s rare enthusiasm. Previously, at various academic conferences and events in Xiao City, Huo Yun had never received this level of attention.

In high spirits, Huo Yun rode on Wu Ting’s coattails. He went to the research center with them, showing Director Ma and Director Fu the new surgical techniques the center had recently developed.

Cai Qi also followed closely, trying to make his face known. He was incredibly envious and secretly wished for the day Wu Ting could come up with a new surgical technique for his hepatobiliary surgery department.

’Look at Huo Yun, his old face is so wrinkled with delight you could trap a mosquito in the folds.’

Director Fu and Director Ma walked and observed together.

”It seems that before long, another brand-new surgical technique can be added to this display board: ESPBD—Endoscopic Sphincterotomy with Papillary Balloon Dilation!”

Director Fu remarked with emotion. The achievement of this surgical technique was quite extraordinary.

”I never expected Fan City to have such a top-tier laparoscopic diagnosis and treatment technology research center. Dr. Wu’s few unique, improved surgical techniques alone are enough to establish a specialized treatment program. Once your third phase of construction is complete, with a perfected range of surgical techniques and enhanced overall capabilities, you will definitely become one of the top centers of its kind in the country.”

Director Ma expressed his heartfelt admiration. He hadn’t expected the City First Hospital’s research center to have such potential.

’No wonder Zhang Heng was willing to come here.’

”Huh? Where’s Zhang Heng?”

Only then did Director Ma remember that Zhang Heng hadn’t followed them.

”Director Ma, Director Zhang is still finishing up in the operating room.”

Guo Guoguo walked over and explained quietly in Director Ma’s ear.

Poor Zhang Heng had long been forgotten, abandoned in the operating room.

After touring the Wu’s Umbilical Hole Skill, the Daytime Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy, and the Suspended Gasless Abdominal Laparoscopic Appendectomy, Director Ma and Director Fu also carefully watched a presentation on the Perfect Triple Method Laparoscopic Assistance Skill.

Thanks to Dr. Ling Ling’s programming skills, all the research center’s new surgical techniques had long been compiled into interactive animated demonstration screens.

And the cartoon characters in the animation were even led by Wu Ting and three beautiful female PhDs, leaving a deep impression on anyone who watched.

After the tour, the group returned to the office.

Zhang Heng had just emerged from the operating room, but no one paid any attention to his arrival.

Zhang Heng could only sit dejectedly in the farthest corner.

Everyone thought that the day’s exchange event was about to come to a successful conclusion.

Unexpectedly, a single sentence from Director Fu stirred up a storm.

”Dr. Wu, how is the project you were exploring in our department coming along? The one on ’P3 Diagnosis Skill for Early-Stage Primary Hepatocellular Carcinoma in Chronic Hepatitis B Patients’?”

Hearing Director Fu’s words, the others were all bewildered, thinking they must have misheard.

This was especially true for Huo Yun and Cai Qi.

”Wu Ting, when did you start researching an early diagnosis skill for primary hepatocellular carcinoma?”

Director Ma also took this very seriously. Primary hepatocellular carcinoma caused by hepatitis B was a persistent challenge for their department.

”Dr. Wu, you’re also researching an early diagnosis skill for primary hepatocellular carcinoma?”

Director Ma was getting impatient.

Zhang Heng, who had been dejectedly preparing to leave, suddenly looked up in astonishment upon hearing about Wu Ting’s project.

As the deputy director of Jin Province Tumor Hospital, primary hepatocellular carcinoma was also his area of research.

Wu Ting wasn’t ready to bring up this project plan. After all, it wasn’t a good fit for the City First Hospital’s laparoscopic research center, and it would be difficult to apply for funding.

If he were to propose it to the hepatobiliary surgery department, his relationship with Director Cai wasn’t close enough for that.

Now that Director Fu had brought it up, he had no choice but to bite the bullet and explain.

”This project is one of the results of my advanced studies at Jinggang University Affiliated First Hospital.”

”My graduate advisor, Professor Shen Siyuan, researches the field of immunomodulation. Under her influence and inspiration, the topic of my master’s thesis is: Immune Negative-Regulatory Therapy for Hepatitis B-Induced Cirrhosis.”

”I hope to combine immunotherapy with traditional treatments for Hepatitis B-induced cirrhosis to propose a new curative therapy for early- to mid-stage primary hepatocellular carcinoma.”

”To that end, I asked Director Fu for a list of books on primary hepatocellular carcinoma and various cutting-edge theories. By chance, I had a flash of inspiration and came up with a new ’P3 Diagnosis Skill for Early-Stage Primary Hepatocellular Carcinoma in Chronic Hepatitis B Patients.’”

”Of course, this diagnosis skill is only the first-stage achievement in my plan. My current research focus is still on the second stage: the Immune Negative-Regulatory Therapy for Hepatitis B-Induced Cirrhosis.”

Wu Ting calmly described his concept and immense ambition.

Listening to Wu Ting, Director Fu was also somewhat incredulous.

”Immune Negative-Regulatory Therapy for Hepatitis B-Induced Cirrhosis is only your second-stage research project?”

”Don’t tell me you’re also planning a third and fourth stage?”

As big shots in the field of primary hepatocellular carcinoma, they quickly understood Wu Ting’s grand plan.

If Wu Ting could really complete all four stages, wouldn’t that mean he had solved the systemic curative treatment for primary hepatocellular carcinoma?

Looking at the young and ambitious Wu Ting, Director Fu was moved by his audacity.

However, a systemic curative treatment for primary hepatocellular carcinoma was nowhere near that simple.

Just proposing a first-stage early diagnosis technique was already remarkable.

As for the second stage, Director Fu simply didn’t believe Wu Ting could complete it.

”Professor Shen Siyuan is as radical as ever. But the difficulty of this project is just too high.”

Director Fu thought it was because of that ”Madwoman” Shen Siyuan’s influence that Wu Ting had chosen such an unwinnable research project for his master’s degree.

”Dr. Wu, I suggest you lower the difficulty. First, develop your ’P3 Diagnosis Skill for Early-Stage Primary Hepatocellular Carcinoma in Chronic Hepatitis B Patients’ into a complete project. Conduct extensive clinical trials, obtain statistical results, and write a paper. That would already be more than enough.”

Director Ma wasn’t as close to Wu Ting, but he genuinely had high hopes for him.

”Dr. Wu, I think Director Fu’s suggestion is very pertinent. You’re still young and don’t have a deep enough understanding of primary hepatocellular carcinoma. Although Director Shen is a leading figure in immunology, when it comes to the intersection with primary hepatocellular carcinoma, she’s in the dark as well.”

”The probability of you achieving results on such a project by yourself is too low.”

”Look at our Deputy Director Zhang Heng. The honors he’s received, the papers he’s written, the national funding he’s secured... his overall capabilities are far greater than yours right now.”

”He has specialized in the field of primary hepatocellular carcinoma for many years and is currently working on a project involving Transcatheter Arterial Chemoembolization combined with antiviral therapy.”

”According to your systemic curative therapy framework, his work could be considered a low-spec version of the third stage, targeting mid- to late-stage primary hepatocellular carcinoma.”

”However, it’s just an experiment using existing technology and conventional antiviral drugs on the market to screen for the most effective one. A project like that has a moderate difficulty and a higher feasibility.”

”Dr. Wu, the second-stage project you’re working on now is like Zhang Heng trying to solve the third stage by combining Transcatheter Arterial Chemoembolization with a new antiviral drug that he develops himself.”

”The difficulty increases exponentially. It’s practically impossible to achieve.”

Director Ma’s words were truly from the heart.

Zhang Heng also wore a serious expression as he said to Wu Ting:

”Dr. Wu, I agree with Director Ma and Director Fu. The probability of your graduate project succeeding is too low.”

”You should focus more of your energy on the P3 Diagnosis Skill for Early-Stage Primary Hepatocellular Carcinoma, which already has a preliminary framework. A paper on that alone would be enough for your doctorate and to see you through to becoming an associate chief physician.”

Listening to the exchange between Director Fu, Director Ma, Director Zhang, and Wu Ting.

The other doctors, especially those from City First Hospital, felt like they were watching gods fight—they couldn’t understand the details, but they knew it was amazing.

Although Wu Ting had already achieved results and synthesized the trait: Immune Negative-Regulatory Therapy for Hepatitis B-Induced Cirrhosis (Black).

But it was difficult to explain right now, so he could only thank the two directors for their concern and advice.

”Thank you, Director Ma and Director Fu, for your kind intentions. However, I already have some ideas for the second stage of this primary hepatocellular carcinoma treatment, and I’m preparing to write a paper outline soon.”

”Afterward, I will discuss it with my professor before deciding whether to proceed with the related project.”

Wu Ting could only deflect them with such a vague response.

Faced with Wu Ting’s intractability, the two directors were helpless. Still, they admired his ambition and determination.

’Young people, after all, have to go through some trials and tribulations.’

”Dr. Wu, in that case, regardless of how your second-stage project goes, I’d like to extend an invitation on behalf of our department for your first-stage project, the ’P3 Diagnosis Skill for Early-Stage Primary Hepatocellular Carcinoma.’”

”As long as you’re willing, our department is prepared to cooperate with you to carry out this project, conducting experiments with observation and control groups. As for funding, I will personally apply for it on your behalf.”

Director Fu valued Wu Ting’s project highly and directly extended an olive branch.

”Dr. Wu, although I haven’t looked into the specifics yet, our Provincial Tumor Hospital’s Hepatic Tumor Surgery department is also willing to cooperate with you. We can provide the data needed for the project and also offer financial support.”

The reason the two directors issued their invitations with such confidence was that, after all, Director Huo’s emergency department was not suitable for a project on chronic primary hepatocellular carcinoma. Furthermore, Wu Ting’s advisor, Shen Siyuan, was in cardiac surgery and also lacked the conditions to research this topic.

At the same time, as industry leaders, they knew that Fan City First Hospital didn’t have a Hepatic Tumor Surgery department, so it lacked the foundation to carry out such research.

As for Cai Qi and his hepatobiliary surgery department, they were simply not in the same league. In their eyes, that department was not equipped to conduct research capable of producing medical guidelines.

Watching the two big shots extend their invitations, the doctors from City First Hospital were filled with envy.

’This Wu Ting... with a single move, he gets leaders from two of Jin Province’s top hospitals to personally offer him funding to start a project.’
