Chapter 209: Chapter 187: Written on Scrap Paper: The Immunomodulatory Mechanism

Since today was just a preliminary consultation on the surgical plan, Wu Ting hadn’t brought the doctoral teams of Yan Xi, Ling Ling, and Jin Yan along.

However, his driver, Cheng Feng, had made the trip. To make things easier, Jin Yan had even lent Cheng Feng her BMW.

Compared to the other two young doctors who had just started their posts, Jin Yan came from a much wealthier background. Her family was in business, and between what her parents gave her and what she earned herself, her current assets were A8.3!

Therefore, she owned three cars and had temporarily lent this BMW to Cheng Feng, specifically for chauffeuring Wu Ting.

As for Cheng Feng’s current net worth, it was A4.8—and that was from pinching every penny.

Wu Ting couldn’t compare to wealthy young women like Jin Yan and Yan Xi, but he was still much better off than Cheng Feng. With the bonus from the talent recruitment program, plus his various recent surgeries and freelance work, he was making a fortune.

Wu Ting’s assets were at A6.7. Since he had a wealthy female friend and a personal driver in Cheng Feng, Wu Ting had no plans to buy a car.

Cheng Feng dropped Wu Ting off at the Cardiac Surgery building and then went to check into his hotel.

Wu Ting went to the Cardiac Surgery Department office and found Shen Siyuan.

Director Shen was still preparing for the consultation. It was, after all, a discussion about a high-profile surgical plan, and she had a strong competitive streak.

She was already a top-tier expert in immunology in Jin Province and had performed numerous successful cardiac surgeries. Now that she was tackling the treatment of primary liver cancer caused by hepatitis B, it wasn’t as if she was completely without direction.

Shen Siyuan had a few scattered ideas on how to regulate the patient’s immune function and was still working on a cohesive plan.

When she saw Wu Ting arrive, she cut right to the chase, handing him all the materials from Director Fu and Shen Xiaofei—the patient’s liver function tests and imaging data.

”Wu Ting, if you have any questions, talk to Dr. Huang first. I’m still working on the surgical plan.”

Shen Siyuan didn’t have a systematic plan that satisfied her yet, so she wasn’t ready to discuss it with Wu Ting. She decided she would wait until she had a complete preliminary proposal before exchanging ideas with her student.

Wu Ting was used to his mentor’s preoccupation. She had always taken a hands-off approach with him.

Huang Dian stayed by Wu Ting’s side, ready to assist him with the files.

”Dr. Wu, why don’t you come over here with me and start by reviewing the patient’s case.”

”This patient’s background and identity are rather sensitive, so this surgery must be kept strictly confidential and not be disclosed to anyone outside of our medical team.”

Huang Dian was giving Wu Ting a heads-up.

”The surgical team this time is incredibly strong. Besides our own hospital’s Hepatobiliary Surgery and Hepatic Tumor Surgery departments, we’re also inviting Dean Chen from the Xianglin City Xuanshang University Affiliated Tumor Hospital for a remote consultation.”

”We’re just waiting for them to confirm the exact time. As soon as Dean Chen is ready, we’ll head over to the Hepatic Tumor Surgery department for the consultation.”

”The consultation should be happening soon. In the meantime, you can review the patient’s medical details.”

Huang Dian was Director Shen’s top workhorse, which was why he was brought on for this surgery to handle auxiliary tasks.

Huang Dian was essentially riding Director Shen’s coattails, whereas Wu Ting had been invited to the team specifically for his Perfect Triple Method auxiliary technique. Their status and function were completely different.

Therefore, Huang Dian was both very cooperative toward and envious of Wu Ting.

He was also eager to see how Wu Ting would perform in the consultation and just how effective his so-called Perfect Triple Method auxiliary technique would actually be.

Of course, Huang Dian didn’t think Wu Ting could contribute anything to the immune regulation aspect beyond this auxiliary technique.

Wu Ting began to study the files carefully.

According to the diagnosis and preliminary plan from Director Fu and Director Shen, the patient was to undergo a partial hepatectomy.

Wu Ting carefully reviewed Li Ai’s imaging data and the two directors’ diagnoses. Overall, the patient’s liver function was only mildly impaired. She had cirrhosis, but her hepatic reserve function was still within the normal range.

The tumors themselves were relatively small. The only problem was their location: deep within the liver parenchyma, far from the edge. There were three lesions, but fortunately, the affected area did not exceed one half of the liver, nor did it involve the porta hepatis.

This was precisely why Director Fu and Director Shen had invited him.

They hoped he would use ultrasound, indocyanine green fluorescence, and 3D image-guided navigation to precisely locate the lesions, assisting in a precise resection that would minimize damage and ensure a good prognosis for the patient.

According to the current surgical plan, the patient was scheduled for a left trisegmentectomy.

Wu Ting mentally simulated the resection based on the two directors’ plan, first confirming that his Perfect Triple Method auxiliary technique could be implemented smoothly.

After that, it was time for the debut of his brand-new Hepatitis B Cirrhosis Immune Negative-Regulation Therapy (Black)!

The core principle of this immunotherapy was to use a single immunoglobulin to modulate the patient’s immune system and functions.

Wu Ting needed to map out the entire regulatory principle and the corresponding signaling pathways of the immunomodulatory molecules. He would then use this theoretical framework to persuade all the senior experts at the consultation.

Otherwise, making claims without any evidence, he wouldn’t even have the right to voice an opinion.

Wu Ting asked Huang Dian for a piece of scrap paper and began to sketch out his ideas.

The main thrust of this immunomodulatory plan was to achieve its effect by downregulating TLRs, decreasing NK and Th1 activation, and enhancing Treg activity...
