Doctor: I Can Synthesize Infinite Entries

Chapter 235: Chapter 196: The Paper’s Achievement Creates a Sensation! Pfizer and Johnson & Johnson Seek Cooperation

A new week began.

Wu Ting arrived at Jinggang University Affiliated First Hospital to see Director Fu. Director Ding’s wife, Liu Xia, had also been admitted.

Dr. Liu Xingye was assigned as Liu Xia’s attending physician.

After Wu Ting arrived, Director Fu, Shen Xiaofei, and Shen Siyuan all gathered for a consultation.

They discussed the patient’s condition. Given Liu Xia’s case, it was true that no other hospital in the country would have recommended surgery.

Only Wu Ting’s novel negative immunomodulatory therapy, combined with a traditional tumor resection, made the operation possible.

As for the deep-seated lesions, Wu Ting’s Perfect Triple Method auxiliary technique also solved the problem of precise localization to the greatest possible extent.

Regarding the common bile duct, Wu Ting himself was a master in the field. He planned a Kasai portoenterostomy for Liu Xia, which, combined with his top-tier suturing skills, ingeniously eliminated the risk of needing a second operation on her bile duct.

With a comprehensive surgical plan in place, they decided to operate on Liu Xia the following day.

Then, at 9:30 that morning, the official website of the world-class journal *Cell* published a stunning announcement.

*Cell* had released a special issue dedicated entirely to a paper from a young scientist from Jin Country, titled ”A Study on the Negative Immunoregulatory Mechanism of Single Immunoglobulin Interleukin-1 Receptor-Related Protein in the Curative Treatment of Chronic Hepatitis B-Associated Primary Liver Cancer”!

Shortly after *Cell* released this news, the official website of the Southern Country’s premier non-profit medical research institute, the HHMI, also posted a commentary on the paper.

It is well-known that the research of scientists at the HHMI Research Institute focuses on four main areas: cell biology, genetics, immunology, and neuroscience.

The institute hires influential scientists with novel ideas to serve as investigators, though their research is still conducted in the labs of their home institutions.

The HHMI is a major driving force in biomedical research and science education. To be recognized by the institute, let alone featured on its official website, was undoubtedly a supreme honor.

HHMI Research Institute scientists have always tackled society’s most intractable health problems, including AIDS, cardiovascular disease, cancer, and diabetes, with the ultimate goal of improving people’s quality of life.

The institute’s investigator program partners with over sixty renowned universities, hospitals, and medical schools in the Southern Country, creating an environment that provides flexible, long-term funding to support more than 300 scientists and their research teams.

The creativity and achievements of HHMI investigators are widely recognized. Among them, over 180 are members of the Southern Country’s National Academy of Sciences, and twenty-five are Nobel Prize laureates!

The commentary on the official website mentioned one particularly stunning and enviable piece of information: the HHMI Research Institute would be dispatching a team, led by Investigator Lin Ning, to Xiao City in Jin Province, Jin Country, to visit and confer with the young scientist, Wu Ting.

The post did not rule out the possibility of providing financial support to Wu Ting’s team in the future and also mentioned that Wu Ting had been added to the HHMI Research Institute’s list of potential candidates for recruitment.

The investigator ranks at the HHMI Research Institute were divided as follows: Research Intern, Assistant Investigator, Associate Investigator, and Investigator.

This was similar to the university ranks of Lecturer, Associate Professor, and Professor, except that professors have teaching requirements, whereas investigators focus primarily on research.

Of course, HHMI investigators were held to an even higher, more stringent standard; every one of them was a world-class leader in their field.

This dual endorsement from *Cell* and the HHMI instantly caused Wu Ting and his paper to create a sensation throughout the scientific community of the Southern Continent!

「John Innes Research Institute, Yun Country.」

A researcher from Yun Country was casually browsing the latest international research news when he suddenly spotted an article on the official *Cell* website.

”*Cell* actually released a special issue, just for one paper in the field of immunology.”

The researcher read on, growing more and more astonished, especially when he saw the author’s photo—it was a Chinese scientist who looked to be in his twenties.

”He’s so young... To think someone this young could publish ’A Study on the Negative Immunoregulatory Mechanism of Single Immunoglobulin Interleukin-1 Receptor-Related Protein in the Curative Treatment of Chronic Hepatitis B-Associated Primary Liver Cancer’...”

”This negative immunoregulatory mechanism could lead to completely new concepts and methods for treating primary liver cancer caused by hepatitis B. This is truly a landmark achievement.”

”According to the paper’s findings, it can only attempt to cure early-to-mid-stage cases of primary liver cancer from hepatitis B. It has limitations for mid-to-late-stage cancer, as well as for some post-operative patients.”

”Still, this is already an incredible achievement.”

The researcher looked over at a Chinese scientist next to him.

”Deng, come quick! One of your fellow Chinese scientists has published a paper with landmark findings.”

”If these findings are applied properly, it will be a revolutionary transformation in the treatment of primary liver cancer caused by hepatitis B!”

Hearing his colleague’s call, Deng Fujiu leaned over, his curiosity piqued.

Deng Fujiu was a top-tier biologist. While teaching in the microbiology department at Huazhong Agricultural College, he had been selected to go to the John Innes Research Institute in Yun Country. At the same time, he pursued his doctorate at Yun Country’s Dongying University.

After completing a one-year postdoc at the John Innes Research Institute, he returned to his home country to teach. He was now a full professor and had even been selected by the State Council’s Academic Degrees Committee to be a doctoral advisor. Currently, he was a professor at Xianglin City Transportation University and the director of the BIO-X Life Science Research Center!
