Chapter 231: Chapter 195: Leaders Team Up for a Visit, Wu Ting’s Terrifying Network

In the cafeteria of a government building in Fan City.

Several officials were having a dinner party.

Among them were Li Qing, director of the Jin Province Human Resources Bureau; Huang Yangming, the newly promoted deputy chief of the Fan City Police Department; and Ding Han, deputy director of the Bureau of Construction.

As officials in Jin Province, they often attended various networking events, so they were all quite familiar with one another.

This was especially true for Ding Han and Li Qing, who had been university classmates. Ding Han’s wife had been their classmate too, so they were very close.

”Ding Han, how has Liu Xia been lately? Is she still at the city library?”

Li Qing was quite concerned about his old classmate, so he asked.

At the mention of his wife, Liu Xia, Ding Han was momentarily at a loss for words. He hadn’t wanted to bring it up, but this was Li Qing, and they were all classmates.

He gave a bitter smile. ”Something’s come up with Liu Xia... Her health isn’t good. She’s recuperating at my mother-in-law’s place in the countryside right now.”

”What’s wrong?”

Li Qing asked, his concern evident.

Ding Han thought for a moment, then decided to tell him everything.

”Liu Xia was diagnosed with mid-stage liver cancer at the end of last year. We went to the Hepatic Tumor Surgery department at the Xianglin City Xuanshang University Affiliated Tumor Hospital for treatment. However, her condition is not good. The lesions are deep and multifocal. She also has a hepatitis B infection complicated by cirrhosis and has had surgery on her common bile duct before. A second surgery would be very risky, so they ultimately opted for conservative treatment.”

”After several rounds of treatment, her condition hasn’t improved much.”

”Her overall physical condition is very poor now, and her immune function is weak...” He sighed.

The Xianglin City Xuanshang University Affiliated Tumor Hospital was considered one of the top specialized cancer hospitals in the entire Jin Country. With even its experts helpless, Ding Han had lost most of his hope.

He could only hope that the treatment from the Xianglin City experts would at least ensure her remaining survival time was spent with sufficient dignity and quality of life.

Hearing about Liu Xia’s situation, a somber mood fell over the dinner party.

As the deputy director of the Bureau of Construction, his network was quite extensive, and he could contact many medical experts.

He had already reached the level of the Xianglin City Xuanshang University Affiliated Tumor Hospital. In truth, going to a place like Qinghe City wouldn’t make a difference.

Therefore, Ding Han wasn’t planning to pull any more strings to try his luck in Qinghe City.

Besides, he had already used up a lot of favors just to contact the top experts in Xianglin City—the best doctors for treating liver tumors in the country.

Top medical experts were truly difficult to get appointments with. For a deputy director of Fan City’s Bureau of Construction to have managed this much, he had already done everything in his power.

Dean Chen of the Xianglin City Xuanshang University Affiliated Tumor Hospital, a top expert in the country, had already diagnosed and treated Liu Xia.

His conclusion was the same: surgery was not recommended. Without a groundbreaking treatment plan, rushing into surgery would only cause the patient more harm.

So, the best option was still the gentler, conservative treatment.

Ding Han and Liu Xia had already accepted this reality.

”Alright, let’s not talk about this anymore. Come on, let’s drink.”

Ding Han forced a smile and changed the subject.

But Li Qing became thoughtful. He could empathize with the experience of a close relative having cancer.

Besides, his sister had just undergone a successful treatment. ’Perhaps the team from Haijin Port and that Dr. Wu Ting could cure Liu Xia’s terminal illness?’

If it were anyone else, Li Qing wouldn’t have meddled, let alone contact and trouble Dr. Wu.

But Liu Xia and Ding Han were his university classmates, after all, and their bond was still very deep.

Li Qing thought it over carefully, and in the end, his heart won out over his head.

He just felt a little awkward. He had just incurred a huge debt of gratitude toward Dr. Wu, and now he was about to trouble him again.

”Ding Han, perhaps... there’s still hope for Liu Xia’s condition.”

Li Qing was a prudent man and rarely spoke without certainty. For him to say something like this held weight.

Ding Han put down his glass and looked at his old classmate.

”Li Qing, what do you mean? Do you know some top experts from abroad, or maybe from Qinghe City?”

After all, Li Qing was now the director of the provincial Human Resources Bureau. In terms of rank and connections, he was far superior to Ding Han.

Li Qing explained his sister’s situation in detail, telling him how she had been treated by a special medical team at Jinggang University Affiliated First Hospital.

”This Dr. Wu Ting is also from your Fan City. He’s a doctor at the City First Hospital. He and his mentor, Professor Shen Siyuan from Jinggang University, jointly pioneered a brand-new treatment plan for HBV-related primary liver cancer.”

”By combining a novel immunotherapy with traditional tumor resection, it can completely cure patients in the early to middle stages of liver cancer.”

”Because my sister’s situation was unique, the details of her treatment were not made public.”

”If you’re interested, I can introduce you to this Dr. Wu Ting. Although Dr. Wu is very young, in the field of treating HBV-related primary liver cancer, he is top-tier in the country.”

”It’s not just the team from Haijin Port. Even Dean Chen from the Xuanshang University Affiliated Tumor Hospital, who had treated Liu Xia, participated in my sister’s remote consultation. He also expressed his approval of Dr. Wu Ting’s team’s results.”

After Li Qing finished speaking, Ding Han grew excited.

”Li Qing, if that’s really true, that would be wonderful.”

”Then I’ll have to trouble you to make an introduction for me.”

Hearing Wu Ting’s name, Huang Yangming, who was sitting to the side, was also a bit surprised.

”Director Li, the Dr. Wu Ting you’re referring to... is that Wu Ting from the emergency department at City First Hospital?”
