Doctor: I Can Synthesize Infinite Entries

Chapter 206: Chapter 185: Conditions for an Unconventional Promotion to Deputy Director

With an invitation from two top-tier figures, complete with funding and the support of a leading medical team, Wu Ting knew he could complete this research project in no time.

As for the subsequent steps—award evaluations, publishing papers, and issuing clinical guidelines—it would all be incredibly efficient.

However, Wu Ting still decided to refuse the invitation.

’After all, my ultimate goal is to pioneer all four stages. If I accept Director Fu’s or Director Ma’s invitation this time, all subsequent research will be inextricably linked to them. I’d be in too deep. Besides, judging by their attitudes, they don’t even believe I can conduct the follow-up studies.’

’To them, my first stage is the grand finale—an incredible achievement in itself.’

’But for me, this is just the beginning. The second stage is practically a formality at this point.’

’I’ve already thought it through. These four stages, and the ultimate goal—the Radical Cure for Primary Hepatocellular Carcinoma from Hepatitis B—must remain firmly in my grasp. It has to be my project, with a team that I lead.’

’It’s just like with the Laparoscopic Diagnosis and Treatment Technology Research Center now. For all those projects, papers, and results, I am the absolute core, and the entire team follows my lead without question.’

’This is exactly why I previously turned down Professor Ma Mengchao’s invitation to pursue my graduate studies at Jiuhua Hospital.’

’Ma Mengchao is too much of a control freak. My previous projects, on appendicitis or cholecystitis, were just insignificant parlor tricks in his eyes. They didn’t threaten the status quo, which is the only reason he gave me so much freedom.’

’If I were to produce something truly top-tier—on the level of this Radical Cure for Primary Hepatocellular Carcinoma, a project that could contend for the National Highest Science and Technology Award—would Professor Ma Mengchao still be so easygoing? Would he still let me develop on my own terms?’

’I have no desire to become a prized workhorse for some academic overlord or top-tier bigwig.’

’That’s why I chose the purely academic Shen Siyuan as my mentor instead. And the results have proven my choice was the right one.’

’This time is no different. There’s no way I can accept the invitation from Director Ma and Director Fu.’

’These major directors—the leadership types, the administrative masters—are not the best choice for me.’

’It’s a no-brainer. If I actually agreed, they’d definitely interfere with my subsequent research. I wouldn’t even get the chance to begin the second stage.’

’I’ll stick to putting down roots here at City First Hospital.’

’As for so-called resources and mentors, I can get those on my own. Surgical skills, research results... I can get those through collaborations, by racking up more ”Entries.”’

’As long as I keep demonstrating enough value and clinical talent, I won’t lack for collaborations with powerful figures, and I won’t be short on all sorts of ”Entries.”’

’Growing step by step right here at City First Hospital, building my own team, and then launching my own projects—that’s the best path for my development.’

Wu Ting glanced at the new Entry he had just obtained: **Discipline Leader of Hepatic Tumor Surgery (Purple)**. A different idea began to take shape.

’Of course, the conditions aren’t right just yet.’

He glanced at the seemingly pliable Director Cai Qi. ’Once I’ve grown a bit more and done some planning,’ he thought, ’it might not be impossible to carve a Hepatic Tumor Surgery department out from under Director Cai.’

Having sorted out his thoughts, Wu Ting finally gave Director Ma and Director Fu a clear answer.

”Thank you both for your generous offer. However, I’m not planning to start the research for this first stage at this time.”

”My main focus for the near future will remain my work at the Laparoscopic Diagnosis and Treatment Technology Research Center and my graduate studies at Jinggang University Medical College.”

”Here at City First Hospital, I’d like to first get the ESPBD—Endoscopic Papillary Small Incision plus Balloon Dilation—project underway. Once that’s complete and the paper is published, it will serve as a contribution to both Phase Three of our research center’s development and the Emergency Department’s Key Discipline Initiative.”

”As for my graduate research topic, I’ll need to consult my advisor, Director Shen Siyuan.”

Wu Ting politely but firmly rejected the two directors.

Director Ma and Director Fu hadn’t expected Wu Ting to be so impervious to persuasion and so principled.

’What an interesting young man.’

Wu Ting’s choice only made the two directors respect and admire him more. To be able to refuse such a clear path to meteoric success meant the young man had his own grand ambitions. His goals were clearly set much higher!

Seeing Wu Ting so poised and effortlessly self-assured...

...Huo Yun was filled with admiration. ’He truly is the successor I’ve placed my hopes in and am doing my utmost to cultivate.’

However, this incident made Huo Yun suddenly realize that the Emergency Department and the research center might no longer be a large enough stage for Wu Ting to display the full extent of his talent.

Huo Yun had watched Wu Ting grow step by step, even though he had now far exceeded his expectations.

But, Huo Yun understood Wu Ting.

Huo Yun decided that after this academic exchange concluded, he would first have a chat with Cai Qi, and then go talk to Dean Tang.

Perhaps in the near future, City First Hospital would be adding a Hepatic Tumor Surgery department.

Once Wu Ting took the initiative to end the discussion on treating primary hepatocellular carcinoma from Hepatitis B, the consultation and academic exchange came to a successful conclusion.

Director Ma and Director Fu departed with Liu Xingye and Gu Xiaodong, feeling like they still wanted more.

The two directors promised to send teams over for regular academic exchanges in the future and also extended an open invitation for Wu Ting to visit and provide guidance whenever he was free.

Zhang Heng returned to his office dejectedly, preparing to start his own project research ahead of schedule.
