Chapter 220: Chapter 191: Business Negotiations with the Jin Pharmaceutical Group (2)

Even though Shen Siyuan knew Wu Ting’s description of Phase Three was just a concept meant to bluff people, she couldn’t help but feel a surge of excitement after reading it.

Then, she couldn’t help but smile.

’That little rascal... he really is a genius. Coming up with such a devilishly clever concept—even I was almost taken in by him.’

’And this concept strikes the Jin Pharmaceutical Group right where it counts! An antiviral drug with the potential to cure liver cancer caused by hepatitis B... That’s a massive market! It represents astronomical profits.’

’Clever kid. If it were just this Phase Three concept on its own, no one would pay it any mind. But with the tangible results from Phases One and Two, it really builds a sense of anticipation.’

Pharmaceutical companies run many projects simultaneously every year, each one requiring a massive investment in R&D, but ultimately, only one or two ever yield results.

Therefore, a new drug research project like this, one with development potential and a solid theoretical basis, was certainly worth investing in.

Shen Siyuan had to admire her student; he was quite the master at securing investments.

With the concept description for Phase Three, just this one line alone—”The liver is the organ of wind and wood; its qi ascends and spreads, favoring free flow and abhorring stagnation”—was enough.

Shen Siyuan was confident she could secure at least two million in startup funding with it!

Shen Siyuan then looked at Phase Four: Postoperative Therapy to Prevent Viral Reactivation.

...achieve postoperative clearance of tumor cells through the theories of tumor necrosis factor, apoptosis, and the IKK complex...

Reading this, Shen Siyuan chuckled.

’This Wu Ting... he never ceases to amaze me. If I didn’t know he was just a young man who’s only been in clinical practice for a short time and published a few papers, I’d think he was some wily old veteran who could fabricate papers and pad his publication list with ease!’

Although she hadn’t researched these three theories in detail, she knew all too well who the leading domestic figures in these fields were.

Weren’t apoptosis and tumor necrosis factor the exact research fields of Dean Chen, the deputy dean of the Xianglin City Xuanshang University Affiliated Tumor Hospital, with whom they had remotely collaborated during Li Ai’s surgery?

’In the entire field of tumor research, Wu Ting probably only knows a handful of big shots, right?’

So he was just opportunistically grabbing what he could, casually slapping Dean Chen’s research theories into his Phase Four proposal.

And you had to admit, it looked pretty convincing.

”...TNF-α, a member of the TNF family, can activate three signaling pathways—caspase, JNK, and the transcription factor NF-kB—to exert its biological functions, including cytotoxicity, antiviral effects, immunomodulation, and apoptosis...”

Reading Wu Ting’s explanation, Shen Siyuan felt a momentary daze, as if this truly were the fourth phase that could cure primary liver cancer caused by hepatitis B.

Shen Siyuan marveled at the thought. Later, when she spoke with Professor Jin and Deng Feifei, using this cutting-edge international theory and name-dropping Dean Chen for endorsement would lend it a great deal of credibility.

’This Wu Ting... he’s really something else!’

Shen Siyuan immediately printed out Wu Ting’s proposal, preparing to schedule a meeting with Professor Jin and Deng Feifei to secure the startup funding as quickly as possible.

At the same time, Shen Siyuan also began contacting people and preparing the invitations for the expert panel for Wu Ting’s graduate thesis proposal.

...

...

「The following Monday.」

Wu Ting arrived at the Department of Cardiac Surgery at Jinggang University Affiliated First Hospital.

Shen Siyuan had already been working for some time. Only when she saw Wu Ting arrive did she put down the statistical chart she was holding.

Seeing Wu Ting, Shen Siyuan stood up warmly and said to him in a secretive tone,

”Wu Ting, you’re coming with me in a little bit. We’re getting your project funding sorted out today!”

When it came to Wu Ting’s affairs, Shen Siyuan was remarkably efficient.

”Whatever you say, Teacher Shen.”

Wu Ting agreed obediently.

Shen Siyuan took out the keys to a Lexus LFA and handed them to Wu Ting.

”Go get the car from the garage. I need to stop by the lab to give some instructions. Wait for me at the entrance.”

By the time Wu Ting returned with the car, Shen Siyuan had finished giving her instructions.

Before coming out, she had even changed her clothes. Without her white lab coat, Teacher Shen was truly stunning and elegant.

The sun was a bit bright, so Shen Siyuan had put on a pair of sunglasses. Her long hair was tied up casually, revealing a fair, smooth forehead, a delicate nose, and soft, red lips. She looked cool and sharp.

Wu Ting immediately moved to open the rear passenger door for her, intending to act as her chauffeur.

Unexpectedly, Shen Siyuan shook her head, motioned for Wu Ting to get in the passenger seat, and slid directly into the driver’s seat herself.

”You don’t know the way. I’ll drive. Get in.”

At that moment, Shen Siyuan truly had the commanding presence of a teacher, and Wu Ting obediently sat down in the passenger seat.

Shen Siyuan’s car really was different from a typical woman’s car. Most women would have their cars filled with plushies, dolls, or other decorations.

But in Professor Shen’s car, one side of the back seat was occupied by a pile of academic journals and magazines.

The rest of the car was spotless, without so much as a single stray hair.

Shen Siyuan drove Wu Ting, heading directly for a private clubhouse in the suburbs of Xiao City.

The Jin Pharmaceutical Group was a massive enterprise, after all. Besides its primary business in the medical industry, the group had also invested in many other sectors, with interests in real estate, hospitality, retail, and more.

This private clubhouse was one of the group’s assets.

It was primarily used to entertain important friends and close associates; ordinary people weren’t even qualified to enter.
