Chapter 240: Chapter 198: Big Shots Gather for Wu Ting’s Master’s Thesis Final Defense Committee

Fan City First Hospital, Emergency Building.

Wu Ting called Director Fu to ask about the submission of his paper on the first-stage results for primary liver cancer in hepatitis B patients, titled: ”A Study on the Early Predictive Value of Peripheral Blood PT, PTA, and PLT Levels for Primary Hepatocellular Carcinoma in Patients with Chronic Hepatitis B: The P3 Chronic Hepatitis B Predictive Diagnosis and Treatment Method.”

As a leading figure in the field of liver tumors and a member of the Surgical Oncology Division of the Jin Country Medical Association, Director Fu was extremely familiar with the journals in this domain.

He had long been looking forward to Wu Ting’s first-stage diagnostic method for early-stage primary liver cancer in hepatitis B patients and valued it highly.

After careful consideration, Director Fu suggested that Wu Ting submit the paper to the Liver Transplantation journal.

Liver Transplantation was an international journal specializing in comprehensive research in medicine and surgery.

It was also a journal indexed by the SCI. The SCI, or Science Citation Index, is a citation database established in 1961 by the Science Information Research Institute (ISI) in the Southern Country.

The SCI (Science Citation Index), EI (Engineering Index), and ISTP (Index to Scientific & Technical Proceedings) are the world’s three most famous systems for retrieving scientific and technical literature. They are internationally recognized as the main tools for scientific statistics and evaluation, with the SCI being the most important and famous of all!

Publishing an article in an SCI journal was undoubtedly a symbol of one’s standing in the field.

The SCI classifies journals into four quartiles based on their impact factor: Quartile 1, Quartile 2, Quartile 3, and Quartile 4.

A Quartile 4 journal was already impressive, and a Quartile 3 journal was considered top-notch. A Quartile 2 journal was exceptionally outstanding, and as for Quartile 1, that was god-tier.

Liver Transplantation had an impact factor of 7.4, making it an exceptionally outstanding Quartile 2 journal.

Liver Transplantation published the latest articles on liver transplantation, hepatic surgery, and chronic liver disease, and it remained highly influential in the field of liver oncology.

Furthermore, Dean Liu Rong of the Jin Country General Hospital was on the journal’s editorial board, and he was also very familiar with Wu Ting.

As the saying goes, it’s easier to get things done when you have connections in high places. The journal itself had a high impact factor, and with Dean Liu Rong’s support, it was indeed the best choice for Wu Ting’s submission.

Following Director Fu’s guidance, Wu Ting immediately contacted Dean Liu Rong.

Dean Liu Rong had been deeply impressed by Wu Ting during the expert consensus meeting on ambulatory surgery. Afterward, his research center had also held numerous academic exchanges with Qinghe City General Hospital.

Therefore, when he heard that Wu Ting wanted to submit a paper to Liver Transplantation, Dean Liu was very welcoming of the idea.

After Wu Ting sent his paper over, Dean Liu Rong reviewed it carefully and gave an enthusiastic reply.

”Dr. Wu, I’ve read your paper. It represents a milestone in the early diagnosis of primary liver cancer caused by hepatitis B. Getting it published in Liver Transplantation will be no problem at all.”

”Beyond just publishing it in a journal, I agree with Director Fu and Director Shen—your P3 Chronic Hepatitis B Predictive Diagnosis and Treatment Method is fully capable of forming the basis for a medical guideline on the early diagnosis of primary liver cancer from hepatitis B.”

”As it happens, the World Health Organization Asia-Pacific Traditional Medicine Clinical Practice Guideline Workshop will be held in Qinghe City this year. I will recommend your research findings there. If everything goes smoothly, your paper can serve as the foundational framework for drafting the corresponding medical guidelines.”

”This World Health Organization Asia-Pacific Region clinical guideline workshop is an extremely high-level event. Over fifty experts and scholars will be attending, including Zeng Jiu, a senior advisor to the WHO Asia-Pacific Region and an academician of the Jin Country Engineering Academy, as well as Cao Xin, president of the Jin Country Medical Science Academy.”

”At that time, if you’re selected for the final list of clinical guideline authors, you will also be invited to attend. This is a rare opportunity. Participating in such a prestigious event will be a quantum leap for your industry influence, academic standing, and professional network!”

”Wu Ting, I never would have thought you’d make such big waves again in such a short time. Truly impressive.”

”You should come visit us at Jin Country General Hospital for an exchange when you have time.”

Hearing how incredibly supportive Dean Liu Rong was, Wu Ting felt deeply honored.

’Just as I thought. Having these top-tier connections opens doors to opportunities I would’ve never even known existed.’

’If I had been left to figure things out on my own, I never would have dreamed that my paper could be recommended to a medical guideline workshop of this level.’

’But, I also understand that the root of all this is my own strength—the ability to produce undeniably solid research.’

’Looks like I need to speed up my project’s progress. The papers for phase one and phase two are already sorted out. It’s time to start developing phase three.’

’Compared to the first two phases, the third phase involves new drug R&D, which will require a massive investment.’

Wu Ting thought for a moment and decided to go see Shen Siyuan to have his graduate research project officially concluded.

According to the early graduation requirements for master’s students at the Jinggang University Medical School Graduate Department, as long as he submitted his thesis and it passed review, he could proceed to his final defense and graduate ahead of schedule.

With one paper already published in Cell and another about to be published in Liver Transplantation, Wu Ting had more than enough to complete his master’s degree thesis and defense.

Wu Ting, of course, wasn’t going to wait until he had finished his entire project, ”A Systematic Curative Therapy for Primary Carcinoma in Hepatitis B: A Study of Phases One, Two, Three, and Four,” before he graduated.
