Doctor: I Can Synthesize Infinite Entries

Chapter 228: Chapter 194: High School Class Reunion

A ”special issue,” as it is called, is distinct from a regular issue or a supplementary issue.

A regular issue is part of the journal’s fixed or regularly scheduled publications. All papers published in a regular issue have passed the journal’s editorial and peer-review process, and their topics must fall within the journal’s scope. Journals are typically published semi-monthly, monthly, bimonthly, quarterly, semi-annually, or annually.

For example, if a journal has 24 scheduled publications a year, and none of them have a specific theme, those are considered regular issues.

A special issue, on the other hand, is a dedicated issue independently organized by the journal, with a flexible publication schedule.

Wu Ting’s special issue was designated for his article alone. It would get its own exclusive cover—a testament to the high recognition of his achievement.

After the plan for the special issue was confirmed, Lin Ning contacted Wu Ting on behalf of the *Cell* editorial department to inform him of the publication plan.

At the same time, Lin Ning also made personal plans to visit Wu Ting in Xiao City. He was very interested in the interdisciplinary field of HBV-related primary liver cancer and immunology and wanted to have a thorough discussion with Wu Ting.

Wu Ting, of course, felt deeply honored by this.

After hanging up the phone, Wu Ting looked up Lin Ning’s personal resume online. After reading it, he was filled with anticipation.

’Professor Lin’s research theory is the exact IKK complex theory I’m missing for the fourth stage of my radical cure for HBV-related primary liver cancer!’

According to the timeline Professor Lin had given him, his *Cell* special issue would be published soon.

’Calculating the time, the data for my first-stage paper is almost completely compiled.’

’The next step is to submit the results of the first stage to a top-tier domestic core journal.’

’With the first-stage paper, plus the top-tier paper in the *Cell* special issue, I can finally begin real business negotiations with Jin Pharmaceutical Group.’

Wu Ting began to strategize. The goal of this business negotiation, as discussed with Teacher Shen, was to establish a research laboratory for HBV-related primary liver cancer at Fan City First Hospital.

’With funding from Jin Pharmaceutical Group, I can construct new buildings and purchase equipment. As for the first batch of researchers, I can use the research assistants recruited from Jinggang University this time and invite them to work at the research center.’

’Those who are interested can be brought in directly.’

’As for the main research team, Dr. Yan Xi, Dr. Ling Ling, Dr. Jin Yan, plus my original team from City First Hospital and some doctors from Hepatobiliary Surgery, that will be enough for the initial phase.’

Under the entry for ”Discipline Leader of Hepatic Tumor Surgery (Purple),” Wu Ting felt a sense of calm confidence.

Besides, his department had already gone through the process of building the Emergency Department’s Research Center for Laparoscopic Diagnosis and Treatment Technology from the ground up, as well as preparing for the Key Specialty designation in the same field.

Wu Ting was confident he could apply this experience to the upcoming establishment of the research lab for HBV-related primary liver cancer.

Wu Ting began to write on a piece of scratch paper:

”...Independent establishment of Hepatic Tumor Surgery at City First Hospital... Preparation for a provincial Key Specialty in HBV-related Primary Liver Cancer... Establishment of a provincial Research Center for HBV-related Primary Liver Cancer... Discipline Leader of Surgical Oncology... Department Head...”

The more Wu Ting thought about it, the more fired up he became.

However, all these plans needed to be advanced methodically. There was no need to rush.

...

...

While Wu Ting was brimming with ambition, things had not been going smoothly for Chairman Jin Yihong of Jin Pharmaceutical Group these past few days.

He had originally scheduled an appointment with Professor Lin Ning to visit the Southern Country HHMI Research Institute and discuss scientific collaborations.

Jin Yihong had gone with the utmost sincerity, only to receive a call from Professor Lin the day before their scheduled meeting.

Professor Lin was at the *Cell* magazine editorial office and needed to participate in the review and verification of an important paper.

According to Professor Lin, the paper’s potential and value were epoch-making.

The author of this paper had proposed a brand-new theory regarding the application of negative immune regulation mechanisms in HBV-related primary liver cancer.

If this paper was verified, it would set off a global firestorm in the field of treating HBV-related primary liver cancer.

Professor Lin further explained to Jin Yihong that once this paper was published, a host of brand-new drugs and treatment devices based on this theory would emerge in the field of HBV-related primary liver cancer treatment.

This represented a colossal opportunity and a massive market for any pharmaceutical company.

Professor Lin and Jin Yihong had a fairly good relationship, so the professor offered him a piece of advice.

”Chairman Jin, rather than waiting in the Southern Country for our meeting, you’d be better off returning home. As soon as our *Cell* special issue is released, you should immediately go and find this scientist from Jin Country.”

”Instead of investing in my IKK complex-related research, you should focus on establishing contact with this scientist from Jin Country. If you can connect with him, and under the guidance of his theory, Jin Pharmaceutical Group manages to monopolize the new drugs and equipment in the field of HBV-related primary liver cancer, then you will truly join the ranks of the world’s top-tier pharmaceutical groups.”

”Of course, if your group still wishes to collaborate with my team, we can continue our discussions, just not in the Southern Country. Because I, too, will be heading to Jin Country to visit this scientist. We can meet in Xiao City then.”
