Doctor: I Can Synthesize Infinite Entries

Chapter 212: Chapter 188: A Real Genius

”So, the risks are very high...”

”The second option is biological therapy using interferon, which our team is also researching. It’s a type of cytokine that can inhibit viral replication in tumor cells and cell division... However, its effects have been limited so far. Given the patient’s condition, we can’t guarantee complete suppression.”

”The third option involves a negative immunoregulatory mechanism, a theory that the academic community has yet to reach a consensus on. This technology specifically targets HBV-related primary liver cancer. The problem is, no team has formally developed this mechanism yet. I’ve only discussed it once before, during an academic conference with Professor Jin from your university’s College of Life Sciences.”

”I’ve paid attention to it because I have years of experience in the field of HBV-related primary liver cancer and have experimented with negative immunoregulation myself. However, the underlying principles are quite complex. I only have a vague idea, which involves using members of the TIR-related superfamily. These members play a negative regulatory role in specific inflammatory and immune responses...”

At this point, Dean Chen adjusted his camera view and had an assistant push a small whiteboard into the frame.

”The negative regulatory mechanism of these superfamily members works something like this...”

Dean Chen began to draw. Of course, it was still a very high-level overview, lacking specific details for application.

”Director Shen, I wonder, are you familiar with these TIR-related superfamily members?”

”Of course, this idea is still very undeveloped. To apply it formally, we would need to form a research team and complete the research on this negative regulatory mechanism before the patient’s condition deteriorates...”

Dean Chen seemed a little embarrassed at this point. It wasn’t that he was trying to show off his grasp of cutting-edge theory. He was simply proposing a broad concept—a long shot, really—to see if Shen Siyuan had any related research on the matter.

Dean Chen then added:

”Everyone, from my personal perspective, I believe the third option offers the best therapeutic outcome. It even has the potential to completely cure HBV-related primary liver cancer.”

”Of course, the most difficult part of this negative immunoregulatory therapy is identifying the core immunoregulatory mechanism from among so many superfamily members, as well as the specific type of immune protein that can be applied. The workload is enormous, and it requires a top-tier understanding of immunology.”

”I’m only mentioning it because I have the opportunity to speak with Professor Shen Siyuan... Perhaps this plan is a bit idealistic.”

”So, for now, I believe the most feasible option is still the second one: biological therapy using interferon. However, this approach has limited efficacy. It can provide some assistance, but I can’t be certain it will resolve the viral replication and prevent the recurrence of liver cancer.”

After Dean Chen finished speaking, the team from Haijin Port began to contemplate his words.

Shen Siyuan, in particular, felt as though she was on the verge of a breakthrough as she listened to Dean Chen’s third proposal. The answer was just beyond a thin veil.

’Superfamily members... The core immunoregulatory mechanism...’

Suddenly, a flash of inspiration struck Shen Siyuan, as if she had just grasped a crucial idea.

”Huang Dian, get me a whiteboard...”

Shen Siyuan began to sketch out her thoughts on the whiteboard. For some reason, it felt as if an unseen force, a divine hand, was guiding her own.

An image surfaced in her mind’s eye. Shen Siyuan put her pen to the board, and the diagram came together in a single, fluid motion.

”The structure of SIGIRR shows a unique expression among the TIR superfamily members... It perfectly fits this negative immunoregulatory role...”

As the image on the whiteboard took concrete form, Shen Siyuan drew upon her own immunological expertise and began to fill in the missing pieces.

Scientific terms and key elements began to fill the whiteboard, one after another...

On the other end of the screen, Dean Chen watched Shen Siyuan in astonishment, a tingle running down his spine. ’This Shen Siyuan is a true research genius,’ he thought. ’To be inspired by just a few of my vague ideas and immediately begin such a complex deduction...’

Soon, Shen Siyuan excitedly added the final stroke and muttered to herself:

”I see it now. I see it.”

”This way, it all connects.”

Shen Siyuan then began to draw the other half of the signaling pathway. After she finished, however, she looked at the final diagram with a strange feeling, as if she had seen this image somewhere before.

’Maybe I skimmed past it in a foreign journal,’ she mused, ’while I was cramming all those immunology books and papers these past two days.’

Shen Siyuan couldn’t help but admire her own talent for coming up with such a stunningly brilliant concept on the spot.

Shen Siyuan immediately turned the whiteboard toward the camera.

”Dean Chen, I’ve got it! We can use SIGIRR to influence Th1 cells, NK cells, and the TLRs signaling pathway, which would produce an immunosuppressive effect...”

Staring at the core immunoregulatory mechanism Shen Siyuan had laid out, Dean Chen’s breathing grew ragged with excitement.

”Brilliant! Director Shen, you are a true genius!”

”Even though the specific operational details are still missing, with this core principle, this consultation... No, this means that the hundreds of thousands of patients in the early to middle stages of HBV-related primary liver cancer now have hope for a complete cure!”

Hearing Dean Chen’s assessment, Director Fu, Director Shen, and the other doctors were visibly moved, their gazes turning to Shen Siyuan with deep admiration.

The infamous ”research madwoman” of Haijin Port had really pulled it off this time!

For his part, Wu Ting hadn’t expected this outcome. He was surprised by Dean Chen’s keen intuition, and by Teacher Shen’s solid fundamentals and quick wit, which allowed her to take his own rough sketch and complete it by integrating it with her theoretical framework.

’There’s no need for me to explain anything,’ Wu Ting thought. ’Right now, what Shen Siyuan has is just the core mechanism. There’s still a lot of work to be done before we have a real treatment plan, let alone the actual procedure.’

’I can just bring these details up slowly later, after the consultation, when we start formulating the plan.’

Besides, the foundation of this theory was something he had learned from Shen Siyuan in the first place. Wu Ting didn’t mind his teacher stealing his thunder.

In fact, he was looking forward to seeing this negative immunoregulatory therapy for HBV-related cirrhosis come to fruition and be introduced to the world!

While everyone was marveling and applauding, Huang Dian also glanced over curiously, wanting to be part of such a momentous occasion.

’It doesn’t matter if I understand it or not,’ he thought. ’The main thing is to soak up some of this genius energy.’

But as he looked at the familiar diagram on the whiteboard, his mind went completely blank.

’Isn’t that the same diagram I just watched Wu Ting draw, stroke by stroke, on his notepad?’ The only difference was that, compared to the textbook-perfect quality of Wu Ting’s drawing, Director Shen’s strokes looked almost amateurish.

Huang Dian whipped his head around to look at Wu Ting, who remained perfectly calm, still applauding for Shen Siyuan. Huang Dian was shaken to his core.

And so, the consultation concluded with a final surgical plan. All they had to do now was wait for Shen Siyuan to produce the specific immunoregulatory therapy, and then the surgery could begin.
