Chapter 224: Chapter 192: Wu Ting’s Extraordinary Graduate Research Proposal Presentation

「The following Monday.」

The conference center of the Graduate School’s administrative building.

Wu Ting’s research proposal presentation officially began.

Dean Song presided, with Director Fu, Director Shen Xiaofei, and the others taking their seats.

They were awaiting Wu Ting’s report and presentation.

Looking at the members of the review committee, Wu Ting was a little surprised. ’In just a few short months,’ he thought, ’I’ve already become so familiar with the leading figures of Jinggang University Affiliated First Hospital.’

’Dean Song, Director Fu, Director Shen... which one of them isn’t on my side?’

Wu Ting began his presentation with composure. The foundation of his confidence, of course, was the profound significance of his research project.

This was the starting point of a monumental achievement. In truth, the very presence of these esteemed figures was a tremendous show of support for Wu Ting’s proposal.

However, once the results of Wu Ting’s research truly came to fruition, these experts—whose names were printed on the review committee roster—would look back on this day as one of the highlights of their own careers.

For they had witnessed the beginning of an extraordinary medical miracle!

”Distinguished leaders, experts, professors, and directors, the topic of my research is ’A Systematic Curative Therapy for HBV-Related Primary Carcinoma: A Study of Phases One, Two, Three, and Four’...”

”This corresponds to the progression of HBV-related primary liver cancer: chronic hepatitis B, cirrhosis, and finally, the primary carcinoma. My research will focus on a four-phase systematic curative therapy for this disease...”

”Phase One, which I call the P3 Predictive Diagnostic and Therapeutic Method for Chronic Hepatitis B...”

”This involves predicting the progression to primary liver cancer in chronic hepatitis B patients by analyzing their peripheral blood PT, PTA, and PLT levels...”

”Phase Two, which I call Negative Immune Regulation Therapy for Hepatitis B-induced Cirrhosis...”

”This will be achieved through research into the theory of negative immune regulation...”

”Phase Three, which I call a Treatment Method for Late-Stage HBV-Related Liver Cancer...”

”This involves treatment via transcatheter arterial chemoembolization combined with the antiviral drug, Fengmu Tiada...”

”Phase Four, which I call Therapy for Preventing Postoperative Viral Reactivation...”

”It combines several cutting-edge international theories, including Tumor Necrosis Factor theory, Apoptosis theory, and IKK Complex theory...”

Wu Ting wore a sharp, custom-tailored black suit that Teacher Shen had personally helped him pick out. He cut a dashing figure, speaking with confidence and eloquence.

He cited professional theories with ease, delivering the entire presentation from memory. Compared to the written report he had provided, his live presentation included additional details.

In short, Wu Ting delivered his presentation with the authority and polish of a university professor lecturing to his students.

The experts in the audience who were in his field listened, utterly captivated, while even those outside the specialty, though not understanding all the details, were deeply impressed.

None of the experts could bring themselves to interrupt Wu Ting’s presentation.

Watching his student’s impressive poise from the side, Shen Siyuan felt a surge of pride.

’It seems my efforts weren’t in vain,’ he thought. ’I managed to assemble such a formidable review committee for you.’

An ordinary graduate student could never get Dean Song to attend personally, nor would the head of the graduate studies department show up.

Everyone listened patiently until Wu Ting concluded his presentation.

Afterward, it was time for the Q&A session with the experts.

Typically, this was the part of the process where experts would offer suggestions or point out shortcomings for the presenter to address and improve upon.

But when it came to Wu Ting, things were different.

Dean Song, the first to speak, immediately began showering him with praise. This was especially true since the Dean had personally witnessed Wu Ting’s surgical skills; Li Ai’s surgery, in particular, was still fresh in his mind.

While Dean Song didn’t believe Wu Ting’s entire ambitious project could be completed in the short term, he had, at the very least, already seen the results of its second phase.

So, after a round of praise, Dean Song announced directly:

”Approved!”

Next, it was the turn of the directors from the relevant fields.

Director Fu followed Dean Song’s lead, offering his own round of praise for Wu Ting and expressing his high hopes.

Director Fu had direct experience with the first phase of Wu Ting’s project. He knew perfectly well that the only things missing were some clinical validation, statistical analysis of the data, and the final write-up into a formal paper.

”Keep up the great work, Wu Ting. We in Hepatic Tumor Surgery are eagerly awaiting the day your P3 Predictive Diagnostic and Therapeutic Method becomes a true standard that we can apply in our clinical practice.”

With Dean Song and Director Fu setting the precedent, Shen Xiaofei’s attitude was much the same.

Amusingly, Shen Xiaofei began with a half-joking ”complaint,” lamenting that Wu Ting hadn’t chosen him as his graduate advisor, before going on to express his profound respect and admiration for the project.

”Focus on your research, Wu Ting. Strive to produce these results as soon as possible and apply them clinically, just like you did with the Perfect Triple Method for assisting laparoscopic surgery...”

After three top experts had voiced such strong support, what else could the others say?

The head of the graduate studies department didn’t understand the technical theories behind Wu Ting’s project, but he was the one who had personally screened the list of potential advisors for Wu Ting and submitted it to Dean Song.

The head of the graduate studies department gently teased Director Shen Xiaofei before offering his congratulations to Director Shen Siyuan.

”Approved!”

After him, the other directors simply followed suit with their own praise.

”Approved!”

”Approved!”

In the end, Wu Ting’s research proposal passed with a unanimous vote and was officially registered with the Medical College.

This official status would facilitate all subsequent steps and made the project eligible for a Key Program grant from the National Natural Science Foundation.

Of course, the only point that sparked some discussion was the issue of the project’s funding.

Following Shen Siyuan’s advice, Wu Ting announced that he would be funding the project himself and would hire faculty and students from the Medical College to be members of his research team.

Dean Song was also very supportive of this decision.

With the proposal presentation complete, Wu Ting’s project was now officially underway!

After the meeting, the relevant departments posted announcements, and word spread that Wu Ting’s project was recruiting team members!
