Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 1749: Chapter 1651: Someone Pulling the Strings

Su Lingxue held a grudge over the matter, and harbored deep-seated hatred towards Huo Sining. However, due to warnings from the company, she dared not act rashly and could only bear it silently, while seeking an opportunity to retaliate.

However, because of this incident, her previously feigned friendly attitude towards Huo Sining had completely vanished.

Except for the confrontations when they were acting together on set, the two avoided each other outside of work as much as possible. Even if they happened to meet, they were busy with their own things, treating each other like air, without any eye contact.

Huo Sining was happy to be ignored by Su Lingxue; if it continued like before, she might truly lose her appetite from disgust.

One day, after finishing the first scene, Huo Sining walked off set and headed to the makeup room. Since she had no more scenes that morning, she wasn’t in a hurry to remove her makeup. But as she reached the doorway, she bumped into a man coming out.

Huo Sining was startled and immediately stepped back a few paces. Only then did she notice it was a man she had collided with.

Huo Sining recognized this person; it was Luo Shaoqun, who played another villain in ”The Legend of the Mermaid.”

”Teacher Luo.”

Seeing this man staring at her with strange, flickering eyes, Huo Sining felt a bit uneasy and instinctively frowned slightly.

However, since he was a senior in the circle, Huo Sining still respectfully greeted him and slipped past Luo Shaoqun.

When she returned to her seat, Huo Sining couldn’t help but glance back at Luo Shaoqun, only to see him turn to the side as well.

Noticing Huo Sining’s gaze, Luo Shaoqun grinned, revealing a warm, polite smile.

This smile made Luo Shaoqun appear gentle and courteous, with no trace of the previous odd expression, as if it had all been Huo Sining’s imagination.

After returning to the makeup room, Huo Sining seemed distracted. Xie Yuxing, beside her, couldn’t help but ask, ”What’s wrong? Tired?”

Huo Sining thought she might be overreacting, so she shook her head dismissively: ”It’s nothing, Sister Xing, your performance just now was amazing. Competing with those veteran actors, you really held your own, it’s incredible!”

Xie Yuxing laughed, ”It’s not as exaggerated as you say. If I were really that good, I wouldn’t still be floating around in this industry after all these years. Just getting by, unlike you young ones, with talent and youth, you have plenty of opportunities.”

Huo Sining quickly shook her head, ”No, opportunities come to those who are prepared. Many people in the entertainment industry only get famous in their thirties or forties, but when they do, they explode. With your acting skills, Sister Xing, I’m sure once this drama airs, you’ll definitely become a huge star!”

”Hmph!”

At that moment, Su Lingxue and Huang Jingwen walked down from the set and happened to overhear Huo Sining’s words in the makeup room. Their expressions immediately turned unpleasant.

Glancing at Huang Jingwen, Su Lingxue said sarcastically, ”Some people really are daydreamers. What do they think the entertainment industry is, their family business? Can they just decide to be famous? If they had that kind of luck, they wouldn’t still be playing background roles after years in the industry!”

Huang Jingwen remained silent. Though she felt Su Lingxue had a point, voicing it so bluntly was somewhat inappropriate.

After all, with so many people in the makeup room, if conflict arose and was exploited, it wouldn’t be good for Su Lingxue’s image.

Su Lingxue’s intention was indeed to stir up trouble. The company had sternly warned her not to provoke Huo Sining, to avoid conflict at any cost, and to lower her profile if necessary. The last thing she should do was anger Huo Sining.

This made Su Lingxue feel humiliated. She had suffered a great loss at Huo Sining’s hands, almost ending up in jail. She had never forgotten it. But instead of supporting her, the company wanted her to bow to Huo Sining, which infuriated her.

Since the company wouldn’t let her target Huo Sining, she vented her anger on Xie Yuxing, taking jabs at her whenever she got the chance.

She secretly hoped that Xie Yuxing would snap or Huo Sining would intervene, giving her a reason to lash out —

Bullying newcomers, disrespecting veterans, Xie Yuxing and Huo Sining teaming up against Su Lingxue.

If that story got out, the two would be torn apart online.

Su Lingxue had it all planned out, but unfortunately, the two didn’t play by the rules.

Despite Su Lingxue’s caustic remarks, Xie Yuxing remained unfazed, smiling and chatting with Huo Sining as if she hadn’t heard a thing.

Ignored again!

Su Lingxue’s expression instantly faltered. She hadn’t expected the two of them to disregard her so completely.

The room filled with hushed whispers and mocking chuckles, forcing Su Lingxue to maintain a smile, though inside her hatred for the pair festered.

Amidst the strange atmosphere, Xu Shaoqing’s arrival broke the tension.

Huang Jingwen was momentarily stunned upon seeing Xu Shaoqing but quickly recovered and nudged Su Lingxue: ”Look who’s here!”

Su Lingxue turned around, her eyes lighting up in surprise: ”Brother-in-law, why are you here?”

Unaware of the entertainment industry’s dynamics, Huo Sining instinctively glanced at the newcomer and whispered to Xie Yuxing, ”Who is that?”

Xie Yuxing murmured, ”Huan Rui’s Vice President, Xu Shaoqing. He’s got significant power within Huan Rui and vast connections in the entertainment industry. Many stars want to leverage him for their advancement.”

Huo Sining immediately understood.

She had always wondered how Su Lingxue, with her mediocre acting skills and poor reputation, managed to become a frontline actress at Huan Rui, receiving so much support and resources. With a brother-in-law backing her in the company, it all made sense.

As everyone turned to look at Xu Shaoqing, Su Lingxue quickly seized the opportunity to regain her dignity, having just lost face with Xie Yuxing and Huo Sining.

Her eyes flickered with calculation as she moved towards Xu Shaoqing, affectionately linking her arm with his, drawing closer while coyly saying:

”Brother-in-law, why didn’t you tell me you were coming? I would have arranged for someone to greet you. I heard the company recently invested in Director Xie Hongzhong’s film. As the Vice President, you must be incredibly busy, so how do you have the time to come here? I must say, no matter how experienced Director Xie is, you shouldn’t be so hands-off. Aren’t you worried something might go wrong with the movie without you overseeing it?”
