Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 1706: Chapter 1610: Something Happened

After returning Su Qingqing to the Su Family, Huo Sining went back to her villa and fell asleep immediately, sleeping until 7:30 the next morning, when she received a call from a veteran maritime officer, asking them to gather at the school gate at 8:00.

Huo Sining quickly washed up and ate breakfast before hurriedly heading to the school gate.

At Xingting Reservoir, many teams had already arrived, along with numerous spectators eager to watch the tournament and enjoy the spectacle. The once deserted reservoir dam was now teeming with a dense crowd of people, heads everywhere as far as the eye could see.

The competition began at ten o’clock. Huo Sining and her team conducted a final inspection of the yachts and other equipment on the reservoir, ensuring that everything was ready and without any anomalies before returning to shore.

The team members began drawing lots, with the first contest being the team competition, where each country’s team members divided into groups on separate yachts and the team with the most caught bass within the allotted time would win.

From a distance, the American team’s lineup was visible, with Edwin’s arm fixed on his right shoulder with a cast, standing sullenly at the back.

Huo Sining didn’t mind, and after giving a few instructions to the other interns, she walked over to Zheng Qinghua’s side and asked, ”Director Zheng, how’s your preparation going? Are you in good shape?”

Zheng Qinghua nodded and smiled, ”Not bad, but our team is missing a member. Even though the team competition is just a warm-up, it still affects our honor, and since the judgment is based on total quantity, our team is at a disadvantage.”

Huo Sining laughed, ”Even though you’re short a person, fishing doesn’t solely rely on numbers of people. It requires luck and fishing experience and skills. Maybe fortune will favor you?”

Zheng Huaqing chuckled faintly, not intending to persuade Huo Sining to join this time.

Huo Sining watched Zheng Huaqing and his group get on the yacht before withdrawing her gaze.

Unexpectedly, as soon as she turned around, she saw Edwin, whom she met last night, standing not far away, looking at her with a sly expression.

Huo Sining didn’t have a good impression of Edwin. Not only was he brazenly flirtatious, but he also attempted deceit, obviously indicating a problematic character. Thus, Huo Sining didn’t want much involvement with such a person.

However, Huo Sining avoiding Edwin didn’t mean he wouldn’t try to provoke her.

Although Matthew clearly instructed Edwin upon leaving the bar last night that the two women had special backgrounds and were not ones he could afford to mess with, Edwin remained unhappy. Especially this morning, he found his arm that had been set still swollen and unable to exert much force, making him even gloomier.

Edwin’s irritation led him to the competition site with a long face. Although other team members sympathized with him, they secretly rejoiced and ridiculed him.

After all, he brought it upon himself, especially creating such a scene at a critical moment. The team members almost laughed at him for being beaten by a woman.

Today was the team competition, but tomorrow the individual battle would begin. With Edwin’s arm issues, the other team members felt they had one less competitor, each eager for the $200,000 prize. With one less formidable opponent, the chance of winning the prize increased significantly, making them secretly delighted.

Edwin was aware that while the other team members appeared friendly, they were likely mocking him in their hearts.

Frustrated and unable to vent, Edwin targeted the Huaxia Fishing Team, scouring the area before his gaze settled on Zheng Qinghua’s team.

Unexpectedly, during his scan, he saw someone he knew very well at the Xingting Reservoir competition site.

Seeing Huo Sining chatting cheerfully with Zheng Huaqing, Edwin was unsure if he had mistaken her, considering the similar appearances of Asian individuals; he struggled to confirm if she was the woman from the bar confrontation.

But in his uncertainty, someone nearby called the woman’s name, which was Huo Sining.

Edwin remembered Matthew’s repeated warning about a woman with the surname Huo, whose status was exceptionally distinguished, cautioning him never to offend her. Hence, he kept this in mind, knowing the woman was named Huo.

Now hearing someone call Huo Sining, he was entirely sure she was the woman from last night’s bar who stood up for the drunken woman!

With lingering anger, Edwin’s lips curved into a sinister smile.

He may not dare to confront the woman surnamed Huo directly, but could he not retaliate against her acquaintances?

Seeing her familiarity with the Huaxia Fishing Team’s captain, their relationship seemed good. While he couldn’t openly confront them, he could secretly sabotage and create chaos without any problem.

Since his arm was injured and winning was impossible, unable to even snag big fish, this round was an accompanying run. Hence, he didn’t plan to compete well and considered using this opportunity to play a game with the Huaxia team!

Thinking thusly, Edwin’s mouth curved, an intense malice in his eyes almost pouring out like water.

Unaware of Edwin’s malicious intent, Huo Sining assumed she was merely there for the spectacle despite handling some maritime affairs—nothing challenging—thus brushing it aside, unaware of her unwitting involvement due to last night’s events, leaving her no option to refuse.

At ten, the competition officially started, with professional anglers from America, Germany, Italy, Dongyang, and other countries gathering in the Magic Capital for the annual FLW outdoor fishing event. Over sixty yachts were ready, and upon hearing the whistle, they frantically raced toward the depths of Xingting Reservoir.

White waves splashed everywhere, and spectators waved flags and shouted, even many foreign relatives cheering for their family members.

Huo Sining kept her eyes on the yachts turning into small white dots in the vast reservoir before stretching and telling the three interns beside her with a smile, ”Finally, a break.”

However, shortly after she spoke, the maritime staff on the water transmitted a message through the walkie-talkie, ”Something happened!”
