Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 1727: Chapter 1630: Underhanded Tactics

”Huo Sining, pay attention to your position, and ponder over your lines a bit more! Su Lingxue, there’s an issue with your expression as well. At this moment, Bai Ling has started to sense something’s off with Lina, realizing that her scheme might have been discovered by Lina. She begins to doubt Lina’s identity, and you need to reflect Bai Ling’s internal activity through your eyes. You can’t just keep smiling like this; change your expression!”

This NG was actually aimed at Su Lingxue, but Zheng Lixiang felt compelled to first criticize Huo Sining, hoping this indirect approach would be easier for Su Lingxue to accept.

This was because Zheng Lixiang discovered during this period that Huo Sining was a very diligent and cautious person regarding her work, and was extremely open to others’ opinions. On set, regardless of who spoke harshly, if the matter was work-related, Huo Sining never got upset.

As expected, once Zheng Lixiang spoke, Huo Sining immediately nodded and began to seriously reflect on where she might have gone wrong.

In contrast, Su Lingxue’s reaction was entirely different.

Since Huo Sining was the one criticized first, almost everyone assumed she was the reason for the NG, and sympathized with Su Lingxue as the innocent party suffering alongside her.

However, Su Lingxue was the one truly engaged in a rival scene with Huo Sining, yet she didn’t notice there was nothing wrong with Huo Sining’s performance at all. She even failed to realize Zheng Lixiang’s NG shout was aimed at her, still believing it was Huo Sining’s performance that had issues.

Su Lingxue’s attention was wholly focused on Huo Sining, so she didn’t notice the peculiar look in Zheng Lixiang’s eyes. She didn’t feel dissatisfied with Zheng Lixiang’s criticism; instead, she nodded lightly, but at the same time threw a sharp glare at Huo Sining.

After reflecting on her performance, Huo Sining sensed something was wrong and glanced towards Zheng Lixiang with confusion.

It’s not that she doubted herself, but her position was correct and her lines were fine. While Zheng Lixiang pointed out her mistakes, she didn’t provide any guidance or correction, proving her previous statements weren’t genuine.

Detecting Huo Sining’s doubts, Zheng Lixiang smiled helplessly, returning an apologetic and comforting look.

Huo Sining was very astute, and with her understanding of the complex relationships within the crew over time, she quickly grasped the key, realizing Zheng Lixiang had used her as a scapegoat, causing her to frown slightly.

At this time, Su Lingxue had repositioned herself, taking Zheng Lixiang’s advice to heart. After re-evaluating, Su Lingxue realized her past understanding of Bai Ling’s character was flawed.

This woman is not just a pretty face; though seemingly delicate and easy to exploit, she’s actually ruthless and shrewd. Such a person cannot possibly be unguarded when Lina approaches.

Though her heart is full of calculations, her face remains soft and gentle. A woman like this would undoubtedly be labeled as a ’white lotus’ in real life, but in this plot, she’s the antagonist, making all her actions perfectly justified. The calmer she appears, the more it proves her mind is filled with countless schemes and thoughts.

When filming resumed, Su Lingxue’s performance indeed improved significantly. At least, she wouldn’t repeat the previous mistakes. After all, the newcomer’s performance was quite commendable, and by comparison in such a rival scene, it was easy to see.

Su Lingxue is a veteran actor, having been in showbiz for over a decade, she’s undoubtedly a seasoned performer. Yet, in this rival scene, she was overshadowed by the newbie, Huo Sining, and how could she accept this?

With Su Lingxue’s pride, she certainly wouldn’t be pleased to be eclipsed by Huo Sining, relegated to a mere backdrop. She cast a sidelong glance at the position of the sacrificial table’s camera, calculated her position, and suddenly turned sideways to block Huo Sining, all while still speaking her lines with a smile.

The action wasn’t overt, but from Zheng Lixiang’s perspective, all she could see was Su Lingxue’s profile, completely obscuring Huo Sining’s face.

Seeing Su Lingxue’s maneuver, Zheng Lixiang instinctively frowned.

The set was crowded with staff members, but no one else felt the same way because only from her point was it connected to all the cameras on set, allowing her to see everything being filmed.

Zheng Lixiang was very pleased with Huo Sining’s acting and performance. She intended to uncover Huo Sining’s beauty and present the side of the Mermaid Princess most fitting to audiences, but Su Lingxue’s subtle move shattered this perfection, leaving a bad taste in Zheng Lixiang’s mind.

Zheng Lixiang, as the director, understood why Su Lingxue acted that way.

In professional terms, the behavior is called ’scene-stealing,’ using positioning to block parts of the camera angle, thus achieving the purpose of obscuring other actors’ faces or bodies.

Many seasoned actors use performance skills and practical experience behind the scenes to suppress newcomers using subtle tricks.

Usually, such actions go unnoticed because veteran actors manage not to leave traces, and few besides the director can detect them.

Generally, even if directors notice such scene-stealing, they don’t comment on it. The actions being subtle, no one will admit it, making it a tacit rule in the entertainment industry.

If your acting isn’t up to par, you can only blame yourself for lacking skills.

While Su Lingxue didn’t excel in other performance aspects, she had learned quite a lot of these crooked methods.

Observing the situation, Zheng Lixiang felt very displeased. On one hand, she feared Huan Rui’s tactics; on the other, she didn’t want her work ruined by Su Lingxue, making her regret agreeing to Huan Rui’s binding contract, signing Shangguan Zhuo along with Su Lingxue.

This Su Lingxue was simply an inescapable burden, focusing only on using sly tactics instead of delving into acting!

Zheng Lixiang felt resentment but was helpless in dealing with Su Lingxue. Nonetheless, she resolved not to collaborate with Su Lingxue again in the future.

After glancing at Huo Sining, who continued reciting her lines on set, Zheng Lixiang couldn’t help but sigh. She admired Huo Sining’s talent and acting skills, but with Su Lingxue’s scene-stealing, Huo Sining, no matter how well she performed, might be overshadowed.
