Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 1735: Chapter 1638: Assistant

Not long after, Xie Yuxing’s assistant came back sweating profusely, bringing a set of clothes for Huo Sining and hurriedly arriving at the dressing room.

Huo Sining thanked the assistant, put on the clothes, and then went to the set to discuss the next scene analysis and positioning with Zheng Lixiang.

The assistant saw that Huo Sining didn’t ask her any questions, and immediately felt a bit relieved. However, since Huo Sining didn’t ask, she couldn’t help but stare at Huo Sining with a complex look.

”Su Xin, I’ve been looking for you for a long time. Where have you been?”

Not long after Huo Sining walked away, Xie Yuxing came out of another dressing room, saw her assistant standing at the door, and couldn’t help but frown unhappily.

The assistant was startled upon hearing Xie Yuxing’s words, her face turned pale, and she quickly stuffed her phone into her pocket and pretended to be calm:

”I forgot something and went back to the hotel. Sister Xing, you’ve finished your makeup? Then let’s get ready for the next scene.”

Xie Yuxing looked at Su Xin suspiciously, unsure why she felt something was off, her eyes drifting to the phone hurriedly stuffed into Su Xin’s pocket, then to Su Xin’s clearly guilty and evasive gaze, she asked:

”What’s wrong with you? You look terrible, are you feeling unwell, or has something happened?”

Su Xin felt a wave of panic at the words, hurriedly shook her head and said, ”I’m fine, it’s just some family issues, but they’ve been resolved, it’s nothing.”

Xie Yuxing knew about Su Xin’s family situation, knew that Su Xin came from the countryside, had a younger brother, and her parents favored sons over daughters, so she had to send most of her earnings back home every month. Yet, despite this, Su Xin’s parents still showed her no kindness.

So, hearing Su Xin say it’s about family matters, Xie Yuxing isn’t suspicious, because she has heard Su Xin’s parents curse her out on the phone, thus Su Xin saying it’s a family matter makes her naturally think Su Xin’s parents called to say something unpleasant, otherwise Su Xin wouldn’t have that expression.

”You must stop being so soft-hearted, your parents are clearly exploiting you. If you continue to tolerate it, they’ll continue to leech off you, and later they’ll ask you to buy your brother a house, a car, marry, raise children. If you don’t stand firm now, you’ll end up working for them for life!”

Although Xie Yuxing was frustrated with Su Xin’s meekness, she couldn’t interfere to scold Su Xin’s family, she could only teach her these principles face-to-face. However, she wasn’t sure how much Su Xin would heed, because she knew that girls from such families, nine out of ten are brainwashed thoroughly to center everything around their brothers, obeying their parents’ orders.

Su Xin hung her head in response, showing a look of shame and embarrassment.

Xie Yuxing thought Su Xin just wanted to save face, and seeing so many people in the crew, she couldn’t exactly reprimand her assistant publicly, so she changed the subject.

But what Xie Yuxing didn’t realize was, Su Xin’s feelings of guilt and embarrassment weren’t because of her scolding, but because of her family-like concern that warmed Su Xin’s heart and filled her with regret. Yet, she knew that after today, she probably couldn’t be Xie Yuxing’s assistant anymore.

Su Xin’s eyes filled with tears, she felt regret, but she had no choice.

Xie Yuxing wasn’t wrong, she was indeed soft-hearted. Her continual tolerance did not gain her parents’ understanding, instead, it made them overly greedy. Despite her years of hard work, everything was taken by her parents, all for her brother.

Even this time, she did it to protect her brother.

She had considered hardening her heart and not caring, after all, what she had given over these years should sufficiently repay her parents for raising her.

But when her parents called repeatedly, starting with a stern attitude to eventually crying and begging her, she couldn’t bear it. After all, they were her parents and her only brother; how could she harden her heart and ignore them?

However, Su Xin’s heart was still filled with guilt, she felt she let down Xie Yuxing’s expectations and trust. It was Xie Yuxing who brought her out, and over these years, Xie Yuxing genuinely treated her well, like a sister. But what she did was completely contrary to Xie Yuxing’s expectations.

Moreover, Su Xin knew very well that when this incident blew up, with Huo Sining’s status and influence, at most it would draw criticism from netizens, but it wouldn’t touch Huo Sining fundamentally. Yet, once Huo Sining recovered, the first person she would suspect would definitely be Xie Yuxing.

Because she was Xie Yuxing’s assistant, everyone knew she listened to Xie Yuxing’s instructions. She was merely a small assistant and had no quarrel or motive against Huo Sining, so naturally, everyone would suspect this was Xie Yuxing’s intention.

Su Xin knew she would implicate Xie Yuxing, but she had no choice. Those people threatened her family; if she didn’t do as they said, her family would surely be...

Thinking about this, Su Xin couldn’t help but close her eyes. She had realized that those people intended to kill two birds with one stone, both dealing with Huo Sining and using Huo Sining’s influence to target Xie Yuxing.

Although Su Xin didn’t recognize the people she interacted with, such vicious and sinister methods, and the malice hidden behind the scenes, even if she was simple-minded, she could guess who the mastermind was.

Her heart trembled, and taking advantage of Xie Yuxing not noticing her, she quietly took out her phone and finished editing the unsent message and sent it out.

”The item has been placed at the designated spot, everything is going smoothly, Huo hasn’t suspected anything.”

Not long after, Huang Jingwen standing on the set received a call. After walking to a secluded corner to take the call, Huang Jingwen’s expression turned joyous, unable to stop the smile curling up at the corners of her mouth.

After hanging up and returning to the set, Su Lingxue was ready to start filming. As they exchanged glances, Huang Jingwen gave an imperceptible nod, which made Su Lingxue understand her intention immediately, her gaze brightened, her expression revealed unmistakable pride, and when she looked at Huo Sining, there was a flash of disdain and schadenfreude.
