Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 1720: Chapter 1623: Shangguan Zhuo

After Huo Sining went downstairs, she walked directly into the lobby to join Zheng Lixiang and other members of the film crew.

Huo Sining sat down on the sofa. Beside her, a man was looking down at the script in his hand. Sensing Huo Sining’s approach, he raised his head to glance at her and gave her a slight smile.

Huo Sining recognized the man as Shangguan Zhuo, the male star surrounded by reporters and fans yesterday, and was momentarily stunned.

She instinctively looked up for Zheng Lixiang, since Zheng Lixiang had previously mentioned that her company was just starting and hadn’t cultivated any local artists. They could only hire artists from other companies to shoot the film, so they couldn’t afford any big stars.

But now Shangguan Zhuo was sitting here, isn’t he big enough?

Huo Sining was very skeptical, suspecting that Zheng Lixiang was either being modest or trying to deceive her. How could she claim the crew was out of money while hiring someone like Shangguan Zhuo? Are you kidding?

In her past life, although Huo Sining lived a miserable life, she went to watch movies featuring Shangguan Zhuo several times. This man is now not only active on domestic big screens, but also quite renowned in Hollywood and recently participated in the shooting of the movie ”Fast & Furious IV,” becoming one of the few Huaxia male action stars in the series.

Movies starring Shangguan Zhuo have strong box office appeal, and films featuring him rarely fail.

However, Huo Sining had never heard of ”The Legend of the Mermaid” in her past life, nor had she heard of Shangguan Zhuo participating in such a film.

Huo Sining speculated that it’s very likely her rebirth had the butterfly effect, altering the course of history. Still, Huo Sining found it quite odd why someone of Shangguan Zhuo’s stature in the entertainment industry would take on such a domestic film.

Huo Sining was filled with doubt but knew now was not the time to ask these questions, as not long after she sat down, Su Lingxue and Huang Jingwen came downstairs in a huff.

Everyone was waiting for the two of them. When Huang Jingwen arrived in the lobby and met Zheng Lixiang, she couldn’t help but complain: ”Director Zheng, what kind of hotel have you booked? There’s such a top-notch staying here, asking her to let Su Lingxue take the elevator first, and she directly ignored us. It’s too much—”

Huang Jingwen was venting, but as soon as she lifted her head, she saw Huo Sining sitting beside Shangguan Zhuo, and she was instantly speechless.

Huang Jingwen looked at Huo Sining in disbelief as if she had suddenly realized something. Her expression changed abruptly, and she signaled to Su Lingxue beside her, as if she understood something.

Su Lingxue’s face was also very uncomfortable, and her gaze at Huo Sining flashed with venom and jealousy.

Huo Sining felt bewildered. She had only taken the elevator downstairs first. Does it warrant such resentment? She didn’t seem to have offended this person, did she?

Huo Sining disregarded their fuss and didn’t pay much attention, thinking these two didn’t deserve her energy.

Ignoring Huang Jingwen’s complaints, Huo Sining followed Director Zheng’s direction to go to the film studio with the group, not caring what the two were thinking.

Unexpectedly, Shangguan Zhuo seemed to have sensed something. Originally napping in the car, he suddenly opened his eyes and said softly to Huo Sining: ”This Su Lingxue isn’t as simple as she seems. I think you should be wary of her.”

Huo Sining was stunned, not because she feared Su Lingxue, but because she was curious why Shangguan Zhuo would warn her.

Shangguan Zhuo seemingly noticed her confusion and didn’t explain further, only whispering:

”Su Lingxue is currently Huan Rui’s rising star, and the company plans to promote her to top position, so they’re doing everything to give her good roles.”

”Huan Rui has its eyes on Director Zheng’s film and is doing everything to secure the lead female role for her, but Director Zheng hasn’t agreed. A week ago, they were notified that someone else had taken the lead female role, and Su Lingxue could only play the second female lead.”

”Huan Rui couldn’t find out from Director Zheng who snagged the lead female role, so they’re very angry and secretly conveyed that they would find a way to push you out of the crew, so you should be prepared.”

Huo Sining was shocked, not expecting that simply acting in a film would earn her an enemy. She didn’t even know Su Lingxue, yet because of a role, she became the target of a major entertainment company’s rivalry.

However, regarding Shangguan Zhuo’s message about forcing her out of the crew, Huo Sining wasn’t worried and found it rather amusing.

She was formally invited by Director Zheng into this crew, without any tricks or hidden rules. What could Huan Rui possibly do to push her out?

Moreover, she now represented the face of the Gu Family, Lu Family, and Zhou Family.

Although the elders, including Zhou Shitao, didn’t particularly support Huo Sining in taking this film, she insisted and reassured them it would be a one-time thing. The elders compromised and stressed that if she took it, she should perform well and not make a bad film to embarrass them.

Huo Sining wanted to see how bold Huan Rui could be to confront her over a role!

Huo Sining gave Shangguan Zhuo a smile and said, ”Thanks for the warning, I’ll be cautious.”

Her response was somewhat indifferent, causing Shangguan Zhuo to frown, thinking to himself that she was another naive girl unaware of the entertainment industry’s intricacies.

The complex relationships in this circle are lurking dangers, potentially leading to one’s downfall.

He had clearly warned the girl, but she obviously didn’t take his caution seriously, utterly reckless.

Shangguan Zhuo could foresee the girl’s upcoming miserable fate, yet he had reached his limit in helping.

He wasn’t familiar with her, and his warning was merely out of compassion; he didn’t want a promising girl to lose her future;

Besides, even though he was stable in his career, he dared not offend Huan Rui’s big boss, fearing repercussions that could cost him heavily.
