Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 1734: Chapter 1637: Turning Their Own Scheme Against Them

”Cut! It’s a wrap!”

It took a while for Zheng Lixiang to come back to her senses and announce that the scene was completed, but inside she was bursting with excitement. She turned around and called over the producer from behind:

”Quick, call Lao Tan over. Let’s edit today’s scene and see how it looks when we release it!”

Lao Tan is an editor hired by Zheng Lixiang’s company, with extensive experience. Zheng Lixiang trusts him completely, and she is certain that Lao Tan will have the same reaction to today’s scene as she did.

Meanwhile, Huo Sining was unaware of Zheng Lixiang’s plan. Upon hearing that the scene was done, she was helped out of the water by the crew.

The time underwater was short, but it was enough to satiate her thrill. Huo Sining felt a bit unsatisfied and thought that after wrapping up this film, she should head to the sea as soon as possible to have a few days of fun in the ocean.

Once she returned to shore, she was already soaked. To avoid suspicion, she intentionally removed the protection of the Water-Repelling Pearl a second before coming ashore, allowing her clothes to get wet before climbing out of the water. So, once ashore, her clothes were drenched, and the crew immediately brought over a dry towel for her to use.

Huo Sining went back to the dressing area to change out of her wet clothes, but upon reaching the changing room, she discovered that the spare clothes she had deliberately brought from the hotel were somehow drenched as well.

”Miss Huo, is something wrong?”

The stage manager, called over by Huo Sining, saw her with a dark expression and was immediately puzzled and at a loss for what to do.

Huo Sining sneered, ”Your stage management is too lax. My clothes were left here and got messed up like this. What do you say to that?”

The stage manager, upon witnessing this, reached out to feel the clothes and his face changed drastically: ”This... Miss Huo, we have no idea how this happened. Maybe one of the staff accidentally splashed water on your clothes. How about you find another set of crew’s clothing to change into, and I’ll think of a way to get your clothes dried?”

Just then, Xie Yuxing’s assistant overheard the situation and approached: ”Miss Huo, what happened?”

The stage manager awkwardly explained, ”Miss Huo’s spare clothes were somehow soaked. She just finished filming a scene underwater and came in to change when she noticed the issue.”

The assistant looked furious upon hearing this: ”It must have been on purpose. How else would clothes in the changing room get wet when it’s not a laundry room? And why only Miss Huo’s clothes and not others’?”

The stage manager’s expression changed immediately, urgently pulling the assistant aside, lowering his voice: ”You can’t just say things without proof. We didn’t see who did it—such things can’t be claimed without evidence!”

However, the assistant remained indignant: ”It’s clear someone did this on purpose. It’s outrageous! I bet it’s Su Lingxue. She’s disliked Miss Huo for a long time, even had a conflict with her the other day, didn’t she?”

Huo Sining stood by silently, but after hearing some whispering between Xie Yuxing’s assistant and the stage manager, the assistant suddenly looked up at Huo Sining and volunteered:

”Miss Huo, I noticed you didn’t bring an assistant, which must be inconvenient on set. You have scenes coming up, and I guess you can’t leave now. Here’s the plan: I’m heading to the hotel to fetch some things for my artist. I could bring a clean change of clothes for you if you trust me. Just hand me your room key card.”

Huo Sining’s previously dark expression softened considerably upon hearing this. She glanced at the eager assistant and, after a brief hesitation, nodded in agreement. She retrieved the hotel key card from her bag and handed it to the assistant:

”That would be great, really appreciate it. My clothes are hanging in the closet against the wall in the outer room of the suite. You’ll find them as soon as you open the closet.”

The assistant accepted the key card, quickly shaking her head and smiling: ”No trouble at all, it’s just a small favor.”

In the hotel, Huo Sining only left some daily toiletries and clothes, keeping valuables safely in her storage ring. So by giving the assistant the key card, she had no worries about potential issues.

Seeing the assistant take the key card and hurry out of the set, the stage manager sighed with relief, wiping away cold sweat from his forehead.

Huo Sining’s lips curled into a faint smile, her eyes showing an inscrutable gleam as she looked at the assistant’s departing figure. She murmured, ”Xie’s assistant sure is eager to help.”

The stage manager thought Huo Sining’s words were sincere, so he chimed in agreeing: ”Yeah, Su Xin is very eager to help around the set and is steady in her work. Xie really trusts her. Miss Huo, you wait here in the makeup area, Su Xin will bring your clothes and it shouldn’t take long.”

Huo Sining slightly nodded, accepted a clean set of crew clothing chosen by the stage manager, and went into the changing room.

In the changing room, Huo Sining eagerly took out her phone and sent Yu Fei a message: ”The snake is out of its hole.”

Yu Fei quickly replied: ”Received, everything is ready.”

A cold glint flashed through Huo Sining’s eyes. Looking at the set of crew clothes in her hands, she pondered whether to laud their cleverness or mock their presumptuousness.

In fact, Huo Sining’s storage ring had clean clothes all along. She could have easily taken them out to change into, but that would prevent the assistant from entering her room to perform any sneaky tricks.

That’s right, the assistant’s offer to fetch clothes for Huo Sining was actually part of a pre-planned scheme by Su Lingxue and Huang Jingwen. Before filming today’s underwater scene, she had already learned from Gu Xu and Yu Fei that Su Lingxue and Huang Jingwen were planning something against her today.

Those two thought they had devised a flawless plan, unaware that Huo Sining had long discovered their secret and had even devised a counter-strategy with Gu Xu.

Therefore, when she found her spare clothes genuinely wet and Xie Yuxing’s assistant appearing as expected, Huo Sining knew Su Lingxue and Huang Jingwen were about to make their move.

Consequently, instead of rejecting the assistant’s proposal, Huo Sining chose to play along to see how Huang Jingwen and Su Lingxue would act out the next scene!
