Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 1707: Chapter 1611: Team Member Injured

The senior officer responsible for several interns, upon hearing this, eagerly asked, ”What’s going on?”

The walkie-talkie on the other end was a flurry of noise and urgency. Huo Sining and the others stood by, unable to make out what was being said, but the senior officer understood and his expression immediately changed: ”Got it, we’ll head right over!”

The other interns looked at each other, puzzled, unsure of what had happened.

The senior officer, unable to offer explanations, waved the interns along, grabbed the medical kit at hand, and headed for the maritime bureau’s special yacht moored in the water, urging the crew to set sail quickly towards the lake.

Only after the boat reached the other side of the reservoir did the interns notice two competing teams’ yachts side by side on the water. Team members from both sides stood on the yachts, engaged in a tense standoff and argument.

The maritime bureau’s vessel approached directly, and seeing this situation, everyone was momentarily stunned.

A safety patrol officer on the other side, seeing the maritime bureau personnel, hurriedly waved at the senior officer, looking as if he had found his pillar of support.

The vessel docked, and it was only then that Huo Sining noticed the two opposing yachts belonged to the teams of Zheng Huaqing and Edwin.

Seeing this, Huo Sining sensed something wasn’t right but, thinking it just a minor dispute, followed behind the senior officer onto the safety patrol boat.

Unexpectedly, upon boarding, there was already a team member in professional competition attire lying on the deck, dressed in red—the uniform of the Huaxia team.

Huo Sining couldn’t recall the injured team member’s name but had seen him before in Zheng Huaqing’s team during a previous conversation, likely one of his team members.

This team member had a long wound several inches on his right arm that looked like it had been cut open by something, deep enough to reveal bone, with flesh peeled back on both sides, and blood gushing out. The contestant’s face was twisted in pain, enduring considerable agony.

In less than half an hour, things had escalated to this point. Witnessing this, others’ expressions changed, especially the interns, who were all shocked by the horrific wound.

Seeing this, Huo Sining’s mood sank as well, and she quickly approached, concerned, and asked, ”What’s going on?”

The safety patrol officer on the other side was also visibly angry, accepting the medical kit handed over by the senior officer and rummaging through it for disinfectants and bleeding control supplies, quickly explaining:

”After entering the water, the Huaxia team and the American team both wanted to fish here and neither would yield, sparking a dispute. Team members on both sides indiscriminately threw their fishing gear into the water.”

”This led to trouble when the fishing lines of an American team member and a Huaxia team member got tangled, and both sides blamed and cursed each other, resulting in chaos.”

”Then, an American team member named Edwin, in a fit of anger, hurled a line from a fishing rod towards the Huaxia team. The line wrapped around Tang Ling’s arm, and when Edwin tugged hard, the fishing line sliced into Tang Ling’s arm, creating this long gash!”

Upon hearing this explanation, the interns and the senior officer shared an expression of outrage. At such a crucial moment, the American team intentionally injured someone, clearly looking to start trouble and weaken the Huaxia team’s strength. Such intentions were truly malicious!

Upon realizing the assailant was indeed Edwin from the American team, Huo Sining’s face also darkened.

Huo Sining instinctively looked up, her gaze directed towards the American team.

At that moment, Edwin happened to meet Huo Sining’s gaze. Their eyes locked, and Edwin, perceiving the anger in her eyes, broke into a wide grin, revealing a smug smile, his demeanor exuding unspoken arrogance.

At this, Huo Sining understood entirely. Edwin wasn’t backing up his teammates; he was seizing the chance for revenge over the injury to his arm yesterday. Seeing her closely acquainted with Zheng Huaqing, he vented his anger on Zheng Huaqing’s team.

Fury surged within Huo Sining.

She knew Edwin had poor character. Failing to take advantage of the situation with women, he resorted to blackmail and even played the victim—a character already deplorable enough—but never did she imagine he’d resort to such low tactics under such circumstances.

Huo Sining looked down at the suffering team member, wincing from having his wound cleaned, and her face turned grim.

Edwin was targeting her; Tang Ling was merely collateral damage.

An icy smile curved on Huo Sining’s lips; she had always acted with integrity, abhorring backstabbing behavior like Edwin’s.

Wasn’t he trying to weaken the Huaxia team, aiming for the American team to advance easily?

Then she would make sure they caught no fish!

Huo Sining glanced once more at the still-arguing teams and snorted coldly, removing the contestant badge from Tang Ling’s chest and putting it on her own.

Everyone else looked on confusedly at Huo Sining, unsure of her intentions.

Without a word, Huo Sining walked straight over to where Zheng Huaqing was standing: ”Director Zheng, what’s the point of more explanations or arguments with them? Tang Ling is injured and can’t compete; I’ll take his place! There’s no need to waste words with them!”

Zheng Huaqing, seeing Huo Sining come over with Tang Ling’s badge on her chest, was momentarily delighted, though he feigned hesitation and concern: ”But, you replacing Tang Ling in the competition, does it adhere to the rules? I’m worried the organizers won’t agree.”

Seeing this, Huo Sining hastily gestured to the staff nearby, signaling him to consult with the organizers.

Seeing Huo Sining stand up and boldly declare her replacement of the injured Tang Ling, the American team burst into laughter, their gazes towards Huo Sining filled with mockery and disdain.

”Hahaha, have the Yellow Monkeys run out of substitutes, sending a woman to compete?”

”Exactly, can this little girl even pull a rod?”

”It’s a joke. I’ve never seen women compete in a fishing tournament, let alone an amateur like her. Is the Huaxia team out of their minds?”
