Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 1742: Chapter 1645: Mistaken Identity?

Huang Jingwen couldn’t figure out what was happening. She looked among the police officers but couldn’t find the Deputy Team Leader she was searching for, so she hurriedly pulled the lead officer who had spoken earlier and said:

”Officer, are you sent here by Deputy Team Leader Zhao? Where is he? You’ve made a mistake, the room to be checked was 1508, not 1509. You’ve got the wrong room number!”

The officer, upon hearing this, raised his head and looked at Huang Jingwen with a half-smiling expression:

”Was it you who made the call to report?”

Huang Jingwen’s breath hitched, realizing she had misspoken, she quickly waved her hands to deny it:

”No, no, it wasn’t us. We just happened to know your team’s Deputy Team Leader Zhao, who faintly mentioned it before. But you really made a mistake, there’s no drugs here, the real stuff is next door. If you don’t believe me, go search there!”

The officer laughed: ”Next door has drugs, how do you know so clearly? Could it be the drugs were placed there by you?”

Huang Jingwen was momentarily speechless, secretly cursing inside, wondering what kind of person Zhao had found, having no discernment whatsoever, can’t they understand people’s words? Damn it, with such commotion, what if Huo Sining next door heard the noise and fled with the goods?

Huang Jingwen was angry but couldn’t argue with the officers, so she could only laugh awkwardly:

”Not really, it’s just that living next to them, we occasionally saw syringes thrown out. We guessed there might be drugs hidden.”

The officer’s expression didn’t change, and Huang Jingwen couldn’t guess what he was thinking.

She was about to embellish her story, when the officer suddenly raised his head and looked at her: ”You just said Deputy Team Leader Zhao mentioned to you that we would conduct a special operation here, and that the search would be in 1508?”

By now, Huang Jingwen sensed something was wrong, but she assumed it was a feint by Deputy Team Leader Zhao — to first check Su Lingxue’s place and then Huo Sining’s, so that no matter how suspicious Huo might be, she couldn’t accuse the police of unfairness, as more than one room was searched, showing it wasn’t targeted at just Huo.

Additionally, Huang Jingwen had already regarded this officer as subordinate to Deputy Team Leader Zhao, so she let down her guard. Hearing the officer’s question, she nodded without thinking much:

”Right, you should be searching 1508. There’s definitely no drugs hidden here—”

Before Huang Jingwen finished speaking, a clear shout came from the side. A female officer, wearing white gloves, pulled out a box of something resembling ”Pearl Powder” from an LV bag.

”Director Xing, we found suspicious items. This Pearl Powder looks unusual, we need to take it back for testing!”

Upon seeing the item in the female officer’s hand clearly, Huang Jingwen’s face changed drastically, and Su Lingxue was even more shocked, her whole body frozen.

The two slowly turned to look at each other, revealing expressions of terror, panic, and fear.

How is this possible?! How can this be?

Huang Jingwen was completely stunned, her mind buzzing and blank.

This box of ”Pearl Powder” was what she instructed Xie Yuxing to place in Huo Sining’s room. At the time, the assistant even took a photo to confirm the item was placed among Huo’s personal belongings, but why is it now in Su Lingxue’s backpack?!

Su Lingxue’s face was horrified. After being stunned for a few seconds, she quickly reacted and urgently rushed toward the female officer:

”Let me, let me see!”

But how could she react faster than the special narcotics officers? She had just taken a few steps when she was stopped, two officers directly detaining her, refusing to let go no matter how she struggled.

Su Lingxue was on the verge of insanity, yelling while struggling: ”This isn’t mine, I don’t know who put it in my bag, I’m being framed!”

Su Lingxue was furious, glaring angrily at Huang Jingwen; this was her scheme, meant to appear in Huo Sining’s room, yet now it was in her backpack. Her immediate suspicion was Huang Jingwen turning against her, colluding with outsiders to set her up, as she could find no other reasonable explanation.

Huang Jingwen was also stunned seeing Su Lingxue’s hateful and venomous eyes.

She wanted to explain, but even she didn’t know what exactly was going on.

”You say it’s not yours, so it’s not yours? Miss Su, this isn’t child’s play. Who would buy so many drugs just to frame you? We received an informant’s report that a batch of K powder was purchased from Fei Biao recently. Following the clues, we traced it to your manager. The evidence is solid, and you claim you’re framed?”

The lead officer laughed coldly at Su Lingxue and Huang Jingwen, thinking her child-like denial was utterly ridiculous.

”By the way, I forgot to mention, the Deputy Team Leader Zhao you mentioned, is Zhao Yongqiang from the Narcotics Unit, right? Unfortunately, he was arrested ten minutes ago for colluding with drug dealers, with incontrovertible evidence.”

”I was considering pleading for him, but now it seems there’s no injustice at all. To divulge a confidential narcotics special operation to unrelated outsiders shows his professional ethics and conscience are utterly lacking. No wonder he’s in cahoots with drug dealers!”

As the lead officer spoke, the surrounding officers seemed somewhat shaken, someone called out: ”Director Xing...”

The officer referred to as Director Xing glanced at the others, his gaze sharp and authoritative:

”The Narcotics Unit can’t have such worms, or they’ll harm their comrades and the people. Such individuals truly deserve no sympathy!”

The lead officer’s gaze was cold, but the reported news was explosive.

Su Lingxue and Huang Jingwen were utterly stunned upon hearing this.

Huang Jingwen felt her heart sink.

Zhao Yongqiang is arrested; no wonder she couldn’t reach him later!

Huang Jingwen’s face stiffened, realizing they misunderstood something. These officers had no relation to Zhao Yongqiang; they weren’t sent by him, but tracked them to the hotel through clues!

In other words, the target wasn’t Huo Sining but her and Su Lingxue!

Huang Jingwen shivered, looking at the Pearl Powder in the female officer’s hand, with only one thought in her mind: It’s over!
