Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 1709: Chapter 1613: Boasting?

”I bet you won’t catch a single fish today!”

Huo Sining’s words were powerful and resonant, not only did the members of the Huaxia and American teams hear them, but so did a few patrolmen and people from the maritime bureau.

The drone overhead captured the scene in detail and broadcast it live on television.

At the moment they heard Huo Sining’s words, there was a silence all around, and everyone looked at Huo Sining with a strange gaze because no one expected her to utter such an arrogant statement.

Zheng Huaqing and the people from the maritime bureau also turned sharply to look at Huo Sining, each showing an incredulous expression, as if they thought she was joking.

However, after looking over, they found that Huo Sining’s expression was exceptionally determined, indicating she wasn’t simply joking around.

The American team, after a few seconds of being stunned, reacted.

They exchanged glances and suddenly burst into uncontrollable laughter, clutching their stomachs and laughing as if they’d heard the funniest joke ever.

For the members of the American team, Huo Sining’s arrogant remark wasn’t worth taking seriously.

An amateur rookie, and a female rookie at that, boasting about them not catching a single fish—what a joke?

The American team members immediately looked at Huo Sining as if she were an idiot, their eyes full of disdain and contempt.

Edwin exaggeratedly replied in a sarcastic tone, ”We won’t catch a single fish, oh no, I’m so scared.”

”Hahahaha!”

Seeing Edwin’s clown-like expression, the other team members couldn’t help but laugh again.

On the Huaxia team side, a few members didn’t look pleased. When Huo Sining stood up to replace Tang Ling in the competition, they saw her as a savior, but now her arrogant words suddenly made their situation awkward and difficult.

Several Huaxia team members felt quite embarrassed after hearing the American team’s mockery and turned to look at Huo Sining with some resentment and dissatisfaction.

Huo Sining, however, remained very calm, allowing the American team members to laugh without responding or showing any guilt, simply focusing on organizing Tang Ling’s fishing gear.

People watching the live broadcast on television were also stunned; no one expected Huo Sining to say such arrogant and flamboyant words.

”Did I hear that right? Not letting the American team catch a single fish, is that for real?”

”Nonsense, of course it’s fake. The reservoir is full of fish. How could she decide which fish bites whose hook?”

”Probably just bluffing. Even if you’re less skilled, you should at least overpower your opponent in terms of momentum. It’s a strategy, nothing unusual!”

”But talking big at this time is clearly inappropriate; so many viewers are watching. If she loses badly, wouldn’t the American team mock them to death?”

”Huo Sining is so skilled in treasure appraisal and gambling, and I heard the first shop she opened in the Magic Capital was a fish shop, meaning she should know about fish farming. Maybe she has some insights into fishing too. Why are you guys so quick to dismiss her?”

”Fish farming is different from fishing. You’re talking about the Xianyu Shop, right? I’ve been there; they sell ornamental fish. It’s entirely different from fishing; you can’t make a blanket statement.”

”Oh, getting temporary satisfaction from words is useless. Better to start fishing quickly and try your luck. Maybe you’ll catch a few more fish.”

”Exactly, get started already. I’m getting anxious here.”

”Do your best; don’t lose too badly. Otherwise, it’ll be embarrassing internationally. How awkward!”

There’s heightened attention online for this year’s FLW because it’s the first time the FLW has held a competition domestically. Both the internet and TV are broadcasting the event, so many netizens are watching simultaneously.

Hearing that Huo Sining suddenly replaced a Huaxia team member and joined the competition, and even wagered with the American team, many netizens became enthusiastic, intently following the event. But when they heard Huo Sining say she wouldn’t let the American team catch a single fish, the onlookers exploded in chatter.

No one believed Huo Sining genuinely had the ability. With such a large reservoir, even if the American team were incompetent, could they really not catch a single fish? Compared to saying you’d make the entire American team lose and withdraw from the competition, ”not catching a single fish” is far more exaggerated.

Everyone thought Huo Sining was boasting, not realizing that she had already planned everything.

After organizing the fishing gear, she turned and walked towards Zheng Huaqing’s position.

Zheng Huaqing’s eyes were filled with doubt and worry, ”Are you sure you have confidence? Or is it just talk?”

Huo Sining raised an eyebrow and said, ”Director Zheng, when have you seen me joke like this? Besides, this is a live broadcast. Could I boast in front of the whole world?”

Hearing this, Zheng Huaqing looked up at Huo Sining, but all he saw was her clear eyes, without a hint of evasion.

But the more he saw this, the more suspicious Zheng Huaqing became. He stared at Huo Sining for several seconds before nodding and asking, ”So what’s your plan? We’ll all follow your lead!”

Huo Sining glanced over at the American team with a malicious smile at the corner of her mouth:

”It’s quite simple. Once they set sail, have the boat operator follow them. Wherever they go, we’ll follow. We don’t have to be too close, just about ten meters away will do!”

Zheng Huaqing was taken aback, unsure of what Huo Sining intended.

Huo Sining looked very calm, like she was casually discussing a very strategic plan, but Zheng Huaqing was a bit confused, unable to understand what was special about this strategy of trailing the American team.

However, seeing Huo Sining’s confident demeanor, Zheng Huaqing vaguely felt that she must have some trump card up her sleeve, so he nodded and said to her:

”Alright, we’ll follow your lead. If it means beating these Old Americans and making them withdraw from the competition, we’ll do whatever you say!”

Huo Sining smiled, checked the time, then called out to the American team, ”Four and a half hours left, we can start now! Mr. Edwin, are you ready?”
