My Alleged Husband

Chapter 2143: Chapter 1976: Journey

I know that despite experiencing so many ups and downs in this life, I still remain very happy.

”Grandpa, I know that every word you say makes sense, and I also know that everything you do is for the good of this family. But he is my own son. How can I bear to watch him train so hard, to prove to his grandparents that he is a good child, and live so painfully? Watching his daily trainings, as a mother, my heart aches terribly. He falls time and again, getting hurt all over, but he still has to hold back tears, get up, and continue training. This doesn’t happen just once or twice. In a mother’s eyes, it’s heart-wrenching pain that no one can understand. A mother’s love for her child is not the same as a father’s love. A father’s love may be selfless, but a mother’s love is selfish. I must selfishly think about my own son. I cannot bear to watch my son jump into the fire pit repeatedly; I can’t do it. Every time I see him get hurt, my heart feels immense pain. I really want to rush up and stop his training, but I can’t do that. The country has its laws, the family has its rules. This is the path he chose, and he must bear the consequences himself. As a child, did he make any mistakes?”

”Perhaps, dear child, you still don’t understand. This isn’t a matter of right or wrong, but rather whether this should be done. If he has chosen this path, then he must walk it alone. No one can help him, nor can anyone bear the pain for him. Different choices lead to different consequences. Since he chose this path, what reason do you have for regret?

I know you’re concerned about your son; he’s my family too. How could I not be worried about him? But concern is one thing—some things must not be violated. Things must be done as they should. Don’t you understand?

Seeing your child train so hard, your heart feels pain and sorrow. But have you considered that one day, all these trainings will be beneficial for him? He won’t be helpless when encountering difficulties. This is crucial for a child’s growth. One should not be selfish for the sake of motherly love and deprive your son of his right to grow.

If you think what you said is right, then think carefully about how to resolve these issues peacefully. I don’t know what happened between you and your husband, but whatever the issue, you should consider it from the child’s perspective, shouldn’t you? The child isn’t young anymore. He knows right from wrong. But if you give up on him so easily, won’t you feel pain, sorrow, and lifelong guilt?”

”Grandpa, let me be honest with you. A junior high school classmate of mine appeared, and my husband argued with me multiple times because of this. Do you think there’s any point in continuing to live with him? I can’t bear it. I can’t handle his constant suspicion of me. You know the most important thing between husband and wife is mutual trust. If there is no trust, what is the meaning of living together?

I also know that for him, as a man, he has his dignity. But do I, as a woman, not have any self-esteem? Does my heart not feel pain? When he repeatedly questions me, does he ever consider my feelings? What I really want is not much. For me, a happy and joyful life for the family is enough. But for him, this seems to be too much to ask. He’s never considered what I actually want, always imposing his thoughts on me. Do you think this is fair to me? I can’t get even a fair treatment. So why should I continue to be a workhorse in this family, living with him?

I know that because I’m a commoner, many people think I married him just for his money. But I ask my conscience, I’ve never been greedy for his wealth. Wherever I go, I have a clear conscience on this. I’ve never cared about how much money he can provide. What matters is if I can spend my life with the man I love. But I ultimately found that no matter how much I loved him at first, we simply couldn’t make it to the end!

Grandpa, do you understand the feeling of wanting to live but unable, wanting to die but unwilling? Do you comprehend the feeling of being repeatedly insulted by your own relatives? You perhaps haven’t suffered through such things, but I truly can’t bear the blow any longer, no matter how much I love him. I can’t accept being verbally abused repeatedly by a man, my husband, and yet be expected to live with him for the rest of my life.”

Old Master Zhang didn’t know exactly what his grandson had said to anger his granddaughter-in-law in such a way. Perhaps the situation wasn’t as simple as he imagined. But why must they create such a rift between themselves? Clearly, this issue could be minimized. What’s the point of dragging it on?

”As a mother, one should at least be willing to sacrifice everything for their son!

Isn’t everyone in this world willing to sacrifice all they have for their children? If you sacrifice all your self-respect for your son, how could your husband possibly disregard you? He suspects you simply because he cares too much about you. He also lacks a sense of security and fears losing you. Trust between a couple is mutual. If you respect him, he will respect your son. Once either party commits a betrayal, conflict arises between them. These principles you should understand!

Think carefully. If you feel that leaving is the best choice, then leaving is something Grandpa won’t stop you from doing. But I hope you remember there’s a five-year-old child waiting for you at home. Are you truly willing to leave?”

On the journey of life, no one knows what you’ve experienced; only you know how you got to where you are today!
