My Alleged Husband

Chapter 2111: Chapter 1944: Hope

I have always been telling myself that I want to turn all the hopes and expectations between you and me into reality. I want to make it become a part of real life.

Zhang Zhentian has already spoken out. As a father, what more can he say now?

His son has made such a decision, so as a father, no matter what, he cannot continue to interfere in the matter anymore.

Perhaps only by letting them experience this pain themselves can they understand that some things cannot be forgiven just by one’s actions, and the mistakes made in the past must eventually be paid by the decisions one makes.

”Do as you wish. Every decision you’ve made, you’ve made it yourself. Anyway, you never listen to anything we say as the elders. In your eyes, we elders are dispensable, and all you see is your wife. Since that’s the case, why come back to this family and let me continue to suffer from your temper? Did you come back just to put me back in the hospital again?

Can’t you show even a little bit of filial respect to your biological father? What harm would it do to go along with me just a little?

I am your biological father. Is it possible that everything I say and do would harm you?

Why are you so ungrateful, hurting those who love you the most again and again until you finally stop?”

Old Master Zhang was truly enraged; he never imagined that despite trying to persuade patiently for so long, his son remained unmoved.

No matter how much I speak as a father, in my son’s eyes, every word I say is wrong. Am I really such a failure as a father?

Do I do everything wrong in my son’s eyes?

Is it really so unusual to do even one right thing?

Xia Jing knew Old Master Zhang was angry. She truly didn’t want to see her husband having poor relations with anyone in the family because of her. She felt her sins were becoming more and more severe. Every lie she told ended up hurting everyone in the family who genuinely cared for her. Because of her lies, those who truly loved her were hurt again and again. How many more mistakes must she make in this lifetime before she can stop, before those who love her the most no longer suffer any harm because of her?

”How can you speak to your father like that? Everything he said isn’t without reason. I made the first mistake, and he says and does these things for your own good. Why can’t you understand the painstaking effort of a father?

We abandoned our child. He painstakingly raised our son, how difficult could that be? Have you ever considered?

One must learn to be grateful. Although over the years I’ve taken you around, wandering everywhere, making many mistakes, I still hold gratitude in my heart because I thank him for raising our son so painstakingly.

How much has my son sacrificed because of my decision? How much has he lost? Who can understand?”

In Old Master Zhang’s eyes, every word Xia Jing now spoke was nothing but a performance. She didn’t want to hear her daughter-in-law acting in front of her. She felt that just looking at this woman was as harmless as a fly, yet in the end?

Wasn’t it always this woman who turned the family upside down one incident after another? Is that still not enough? Does this family have to continue enduring greater harm because of her presence?

”Alright, you don’t need to continue acting in front of me.

Every time there is a disturbance between us father and son, isn’t it because of you? Ever since you appeared, we have never had a calm conversation. Again and again, I ended up in the hospital because of her. Did you ever once come back to see me or accompany me? Over the years, you said with your mouth you’re grateful I raised your child, but I don’t need your gratitude because he is a descendant of the Zhang Family.

No matter what, I will do whatever it takes to raise him because he is the only descendant of our household. No matter what you have done in the past, I can overlook it, but in this matter, I really can’t refrain from interference. No matter what agreement you two reached, it holds no meaning for me.

All I want is merely a promise between you two, a promise that you will never do anything rash again in this lifetime. Can you consider the feelings of us, your family, when you act?”

Old Master Zhang found it exhausting to be with his family. Why did every word he said seem like an attempt to harm them in their eyes? Why couldn’t they consider things from his perspective? He just wanted to live a peaceful life, he never wanted to interfere with their marital happiness without reason, but their repeated actions made it unbearable for him.

The greatest pillar between a couple, isn’t it loyalty? Beyond loyalty, there is trust. If even loyalty and trust cannot be met, what is the point of being together?

The more he thought about it, the less he understood, and the more lost his heart became. Why could his family never understand any of his decisions? How much had he given and lost, and what kind of outcome did he achieve?

Thinking back now, his heart was truly chilled. He once was willing to pay any price for his family, but in the end, all he got in return was one misunderstanding after another from his family.

”I don’t want to say anything now. I just hope you both think deeply about whether you want to live this life for others or for yourselves. If living for others, then you’ve lost all meaning. If for yourself, then live with your own style, stop sacrificing your own pursuits for others time and again. That kind of living is not for yourself but for a blind goal!”

Xia Jing knew very well that she would never live for herself in her life but for the man she loved most in her heart.

I always find myself flipping through photo albums in my spare time, looking at your photos, thinking of holding you in my arms!
