My Alleged Husband

Chapter 2117: Chapter 1950: Rescue

Many times, what one desires is nothing more than the fleeting brilliance of fireworks.

Ran Zhihan listened to Zhang Yichen’s words, feeling slightly incredulous. Did she hear wrong? Her boyfriend had never uttered a single sweet word throughout their relationship, so why would he suddenly say so many today?

Was she truly that important to him? To be with her, he would even go against his parents, even evict them from his home. Where could she find another man like this?

Yet her heart was still conflicted. She didn’t know what consequences awaited her each time she made a decision; she feared that deciding could lead to even greater harm, harm she could no longer bear.

”Don’t worry, I will consider carefully. Since you’re not busy today, please just go back. Don’t stay here too long, because when I see you, I can’t help but remember the harm your mother caused me, which I think might affect my judgment. If you don’t want me to make poor judgments because of any reason, then please leave here immediately!” Ran Zhihan said to Zhang Yichen.

Zhang Yichen felt what Ran Zhihan said made sense: ”Alright, I’ll head back first today. Think carefully, I hope you can make the right decision. Maybe you think leaving me is no big deal, but for me, losing you is losing the whole world. In my eyes, you are more important than the entire world; I can start over without a career, but without you, I’ve truly lost you forever because you’re the one and only Ran Zhihan in the whole world...”

”I understand!”

Zhang Yichen turned and left Li Jiayuan’s home, looking back every few steps at his beloved girl. Clearly standing right in front of him, yet unable to touch, because if he tried, she would sever all ties with him forever.

Lei Shao saw Zhang Yichen leave his home, unable to resist asking Ran Zhihan: ”Elder Sister Zhihan, I think Brother Yichen truly loves you; why do you treat him like this? The grievances of the past shouldn’t affect your generation’s happiness. If you always entangle yourselves in the harm his mother caused you, then how will you find happiness in your lives?”

I can tell, he has never loved anyone like he loves you. Even compared to his grandfather, the love is different. He would sacrifice anything for you; I hope sometimes you can also consider things from his perspective.”

Ran Zhihan found it quite amusing. Why does everything fall on her when situations arise? Hasn’t she considered things from his point of view? If she hadn’t, she wouldn’t be standing here now making this kind of decision.

”Lei Shao, honestly, having you as a friend makes me happy. But matters of the heart cannot be forced. I don’t want to dwell forever on his mother hurting me and my parents, but to speak fairly, each time his parents hurt us, when did he ever stand up against his mom? He doesn’t dare raise a hand to resist his mother; he only dares to speak with his mouth. If it’s that simple to just move lips, what use do I have for such a man?”

”Elder Sister Zhihan, you truly don’t understand him. You’ve never considered that while you resist his mother, he also bears the tremendous pressure she imposes on him. He hasn’t given up even under that pressure from her. How dare you speak of giving up to him? Aren’t you hurting his fragile self-esteem? You know, anyone can lack self-esteem, but he particularly cannot lack it. Without self-esteem, he feels he can’t exist in the world; yet for you, he repeatedly lowered his self-esteem, and you feel nothing? I don’t believe you’re cold-hearted, but why treat him this way, just because his mother hurt you? Are you seeking to take revenge by doing this?”

”I never intended to take revenge. Though his mother harmed me greatly this time, despite saying I want revenge, inside, I don’t think so. I just don’t want him to be oppressed by his mom because of our relationship anymore, you know? That kind of pressure is mountainous, making it hard to breathe. He’s at a peak in his career now; if pressure from his mother ruins his career, how could I be at peace?”

”So to ensure his career success, you chose to give up the man you love? Do you realize this decision is truly hurtful? Don’t tell me you’ve never been moved by him...” Lei Shao said expectantly to Ran Zhihan.

”I have to admit, today when he said those words to me, I was indeed moved. You know, in the few months I’ve been with him, he never whispered any sweet words in my ear. Today was the first, possibly the last time in my life. When I heard him say those words to me, I felt so happy and excited inside. But I couldn’t show it, because if I did, he’d see right through me, and breaking up later would be even more impossible!”

”Since you love him so much inside, why do you choose to hurt him this way? You admitted being moved by his sweet words today; why not give each other another chance instead of reaching this point? Seeing you both agonize doesn’t help anyone. Truthfully, in love, people often hesitate to put down their pride, causing so much damage. Once you think it through, all problems can be resolved. If you give up your love because of his mom’s involvement, you will regret it forever. Men like him are rare; even if you’re an ordinary girl, he treasures you like a gem. Why can’t you treat him equally? If he loves you so deeply, can’t you love him equally in return?”

”I truly feel conflicted inside. I don’t know what decision will bring what results. I used to tell myself repeatedly that being together and happy was enough, but only now do I realize, two people’s happiness can cause damage to two families. If ensuring my own happiness harms two families, why shouldn’t I preserve them by giving up my love?”

”I don’t know how to persuade you, but I hope you understand, don’t wait until it’s too late when there’s no one standing there when you turn back. At that time, you’ll only face empty air. Perhaps you think it’s nothing now, but when that time comes, you’ll realize being together is best. This is between you two, I shouldn’t interfere, but I don’t want to see him suffer like this. Never have I seen him suffer so much for anything, so I beg you, please be merciful and love him sincerely...”

He never imagined his wife would be rescued by someone else, nor that she would lose all her memories!
