My Alleged Husband

Chapter 2132: Chapter 1965: Never Changed

Perhaps everyone changes imperceptibly, and these changes are hard to notice by oneself; only the people around you know how much you’ve truly changed.

Father and son once again raised their voices in argument over these matters at home. In truth, neither was wrong; the only mistake was that one’s own selfishness was too strong, leading to one’s family being hurt repeatedly due to selfish desires.

”Others can get forgiveness from their family for their mistakes, why can’t I? I admit I’ve done wrong; I know the wrongs I’ve done make it hard for you to forgive and find balance in your hearts, but can’t you forgive me just this once?”

”This once? Do you really think there’s only this one mistake that you’ve done, and getting our forgiveness is a one-time thing? You need to ask yourself how many blunders you’ve committed, how many wrongs you’ve done, causing your family and your son such heartbreak. Yet in the end, we still chose to forgive you, because we see you as family, hold you in such high regard. But what about you? What is the impression you give us? You intended to abandon the most important people in your life just for your so-called selfish desires. Do you really feel okay with that in your heart? Do you not feel any pain within? Sometimes, I, as a father, truly don’t understand. They say people’s hearts are made of flesh and feel pain, that emotions aren’t one-sided. But do the decisions you make really show that a heart can feel pain? Can emotions turn cold? You’ve never considered the feelings of your family with every decision you make; you’re always so selfish. Don’t you know selfishness never leads to a good outcome? Why do you persist in choosing this fate?”

”Dad, from the moment I was born, you should have known my fate wasn’t something I could choose. I couldn’t live up to your expectations, staying home to take over the company, or becoming the most capable person in the world. But my son did it. He’s more capable than me, even excelling more than his teacher. He’s even stronger than you, achieving his goals. He’s the most powerful man in the world, with the most gentle and kind wife.”

”Do you feel proud of your son’s achievements now? But you’d never imagine the amount of hardship and effort he put in to get here. Every step for him was filled with struggles that you never saw or experienced. Each step was to prove himself to you, to show his parents he was worthwhile, and regret rejecting him. On the day of his greatest achievements, you returned, but what you brought wasn’t a warm hug or an apology, not even a greeting, but repeated hurt. Every move you make never considers how others feel, as long as you’re happy. Others’ happiness has nothing to do with you, but you’ve never understood how much your family wants you to be happy. As long as you’re happy, no matter how hard or exhausting it is for your family, it’s okay. For your family, just the safety and happiness of the ones they love is enough. In your son’s heart, he doesn’t ask for immense love from his parents, or want them to do a lot for him, just that they live happily. Even if they disown him for life, it’s okay. But what about you? How have you treated him? You used his love as a weapon for your hurt every time. Aren’t the injuries you’ve caused enough?”

”Dad, I’m sorry, I truly know I’ve done wrong. Every decision of mine was so selfish, never considering the feelings of those I care for and those who love me. I only thought about my happiness, why should other unrelated people manage so many things? They can’t even handle their own matters, how do they have time for mine? But I never realized that my father truly loves me, my son cares so much for his biological father, and even my daughter-in-law feels the same. Yet, I’ve caused them so much harm, how can I face them? Every decision, every action I’ve taken, why does it make them feel so pained and devastated, just for some self-serving interests, forsaking the things I should have most protected?”

”Yes, your actions were so brazen, do you know how arrogant you seemed, unaware of how many eyes were watching, waiting for you to fall. But you never realized how much your family cared for you. You could’ve taken each step carefully, steadily planted on the ground, not floating on those flimsy clouds above, which only makes you feel tired. You can never return to this home in your lifetime, as there are no more chances. Your wife has gotten into trouble recently, whether intentionally or not, I hope you investigate thoroughly. If it’s deliberate, not even your son will forgive her, nor should I. Her actions are unforgivable, and this time it damaged my relationship with your son and daughter-in-law again!”

Hearing his father mention that his wife has stirred up trouble again, Zhang Zhentian knew she really returned, feeling both happy and sad. Happy that he could finally find her, but sad that perhaps, due to this incident, there might be no possibility of them being together again.

”Fine, leave this matter to this selfish person to investigate thoroughly. Once I’ve clarified everything, I’ll inform you immediately. Don’t look at me like that; I won’t hide anything from you. I won’t act like I did before, doing something you’ll never forgive. Rest assured!”

Perhaps I haven’t truly changed, and I don’t know why someone would feel I’ve changed everything!
