My Alleged Husband

Chapter 2130: Chapter 1963: When the Snow Falls

I used to keep thinking that as long as you had time, you would spend a cold winter with me, and these words, like the wanton cold wind, would not move me, nor would I say take care, no matter how much you wish I were indifferent.

Xia Jing knew this was a rare opportunity, if she didn’t take this chance to clarify everything with her husband, things would only get worse. She didn’t want the situation to escalate to an uncontrollable level and while he was already hit hard, she thought it best to strike while the iron is hot and tell him everything; perhaps this would be the best outcome for him.

”I know you don’t want to hear anything I have to say right now, but I hope you understand that I won’t change my decision easily. Since you made this decision today, did these things, you must bear the consequences of your actions. Have you ever considered, back when you abandoned me, you didn’t foresee today’s situation? Should I return to your side just because of a few apologies? For what reason, really? Is it because you’re nobler than me, or am I too humble, that you can disregard me every time you make a decision? I’m not that kind of person, not someone you can pick up and discard at will. Since I chose to be with you back then, it proves I genuinely wanted to spend my life with you. But when you heartlessly abandoned me, I knew that there was no chance for us to return to the past, let’s not mention walking our separate paths that everyone dreams of. Isn’t it better if nobody interferes? Why must everyone be so passive?

Maybe every word I said today is hard for you to accept, but they are the truth, and you must learn to accept the truth. Once upon a time, I sacrificed a lot for you, which everyone observed, but what did I get in the end? My husband heartlessly abandoned me, distrusting me. Is this the outcome of so many years of hard-earned love? I’m not that humble; I refuse to degrade myself to the point where my most beloved person doesn’t want to live with me, yet I still have to cling to him obstinately. Why must I repeatedly endure such injuries, and why must I give up what I desire the most to take the fall for you?

Perhaps you think I could abandon everything for you in the beginning, and I still could in the end, but you are really mistaken. I’m not a Saint; since I made a mistake once, I won’t continue making the same mistake. I hope you can see the truth clearly now, everything has become meaningless, and it’s all caused by your actions!

You always believed that I loved you deeply, so you assume I would sacrifice everything without complaint, but have you never thought about it? I used to love you madly, fearing nothing for you, but in the end, my return received nothing but abandonment from you. I am not that silly woman who only knows how to give without knowing how to ask in return. What I want is the most basic trust from my husband. Do you know? But you can’t give me that trust. Now that you can’t provide me with anything I want, please don’t tie me to your side for a lifetime of sorrow...”

Zhang Zhentian knew perhaps this time, there really was no way to persuade his wife to change her mind, but she was unwilling to accept it. Why was his act of letting go of his pride to return to beg him met with rejection? Why must all his efforts be in vain?

”Are you really okay with Dad seeing us like this? You should know how much he wishes for us to be together. He hopes dearly that I could bring you back home. Dad has sacrificed a lot for you, and now he’s critically ill in the hospital. If he sees his son’s marriage unhappy and family unjoyful, do you think he could peacefully recover in the hospital? Don’t you think that’s practically driving him to his death? If you really care about me, then please compromise just one more time, no matter what requests you make, I will agree. I can stay at home without touching you, without sharing a bed with you; I don’t need you to sacrifice anything for me. I just want you to accompany me, even if it’s just a little!”

In the end, she couldn’t accept the fact on that day. She felt that no matter what, his wife should return to his side; no matter what happened, it shouldn’t be so easily abandoned. However, he failed to understand that a disillusioned woman cannot be coaxed back with mere words. He didn’t understand how deep a woman’s thoughts are; he didn’t comprehend that when a woman’s heart is wounded, it becomes difficult to heal. He thought as long as he gave, there would always be a return, but is that really the case? Everyone gives, but it’s not like he’s the only one who did. And he always thought his giving was selfless, always the greatest. Why? Is everyone else indebted to him?

”You’re too egotistical; do you really think we don’t know of every action you’ve taken? Do you really think your contribution is the greatest? Do you really think that just because you gave, I should follow you back home?

Don’t consider me an easily manipulated woman. I stand by my word; I won’t retract every decision I’ve made lightly, not even for the person I once loved the most. You’ve truly broken my heart, and now there’s no other path available for you. The only thing you can do is choose to accept the truth, and the truth is I will never be with you again in this life, and he won’t return to your side. If you have any conscience left, please treat our father well; he has sacrificed a lot for us, as you said, he doesn’t want to see our family unharmonious. If you don’t want his condition to worsen, don’t let him know this news. If your heart truly considers him a real father, then please take good care of him, treat him kindly, and fulfill your responsibilities as a son!”

Zhang Zhentian finally understood that now he had no other way out; he could only choose to accept reality, and the reality was that he would completely lose the woman he used to love the most, completely lose his wife. How could he withstand such a blow?

I thought I wouldn’t feel pain, thereby learning calmness through repetition, self-taught, as time hurriedly passed by. The heartbreak you once mentioned, the dreams once tightly embraced, I want to ask, what sort of affection is this?
