My Alleged Husband

Chapter 2134: Chapter 1967: Palm

The tears overloading your eyes are nothing but despair and heartbreak.

”Zhihan, I know this is how you discipline your child, and I shouldn’t really interfere, but I still hope you can understand one thing: when it comes to disciplining a child, you have to know where to stop. If you suddenly start being extremely strict with him, he’ll definitely start to resent you, he won’t trust you the way he used to. You’re his mom, you should know what kind of temperament your son has. Ever since he was little, he’s never told a single lie over anything. Since he came home this late today, there must be a reason. So don’t blame him anymore. With a lot of things, it’s enough to go just so far; if you know when to stop, he’ll only hold you closer in his heart. Don’t hurt the harmony between you and your son over some unnecessary things. I can tell your son really cares about you. He takes you, his mother, very seriously. Look at the way you talked to him—he didn’t dare cry, didn’t dare make a fuss, he could only go upstairs all aggrieved and shut the door to ’reflect on himself.’ That just proves that your child, he really doesn’t have a bad heart. And he didn’t lie. You can’t say he’s lying to us without any evidence at all. Maybe what he said this time is true. I also want to know who that strange grandma is, the one who actually pulled my family member away and wouldn’t let him come home. I’ll definitely get to the bottom of this. I hope you can calm down and sort out your thoughts. Do you really think disciplining your child like this is good for him? Do you think keeping such a tight rein on him is truly for his own good, or is it for something else? I know what you’re thinking inside, and I know how your father and mother abandoned all of you and left only me here, making your heart extremely unbalanced. But it’s been so long already, let’s not keep obsessing over that happiness we once wanted. Our whole family living together happily, that’s the most important thing in any case. Don’t keep dwelling on these things that only make us sadder and more upset. What’s gone by, let it go with the time of the past, don’t think about it anymore...”

”Grandpa, it sounds nice when you say it, but are you really reconciled to it in your heart? Why do our mom and dad get to walk away like this without a word? Why are they unwilling to stay by our side and be with us, even just for one day? Why do they always have to be as selfish as they were before? They’re adults now, can’t they grow up? Day after day passes, and in the blink of an eye five whole years have gone by. My child is already five. In these five years of growing up, do you know how much he’s hoped his grandparents could be by his side, could take even one look at him? But what did he get in the end? One hope after another, and then those hopes turn into one disappointment after another, and then into despair, again and again. Every time, he grows up strong through other people’s hurt. He’s never once cried his heart out. He thinks only if he becomes strong enough, maybe then his grandparents will come back and stay by his side. Is that way of thinking of his also wrong? A lot of times I don’t even know how to describe my own child. I can’t figure out why his temper is so stubborn. So many things could be so easily resolved, but he just can’t let them go in his heart. I know that even though he’s still so young, his heart really is in a lot of pain.”

”I know, and exactly because of that I hope you can treat him kindly, don’t keep blaming him and scolding him over things you shouldn’t. He’s your child, not a transaction, not an object. He’ll also feel sad and cry because of how we treat him. If we hurt him again and again, do you think his heart won’t feel sorrow, won’t feel pain? We all understand that everyone’s experiences while growing up are different, the things they encounter are different. Since heaven has decided he’ll go through something like this, then let him experience it once. Maybe that’s the best ending for him. Maybe then his heart will finally find some balance. Stop thinking about all those things that make us unhappy. It’s enough for everyone to live the kind of days they want, happily. Let all the things that shouldn’t exist completely disappear. Keeping those things in front of your eyes again and again—it really hurts, it hurts so much.”

”Yichen, Grandpa also has something to say to you. Actually, Grandpa knows very well how hard things are for you, how bitter they’ve been. But are you really just going to stand there watching your wife discipline your son like this and say nothing? Or do you feel everything your wife does is right, or that you’re just so henpecked that whatever your wife says, you don’t even dare utter a word? There’s really no need for things to get this stiff. Can’t you see that your son in front of you doesn’t even dare say anything? He also hopes his mom and dad can love him selflessly forever, and not suddenly come down so harshly on him over anything, not yell at him loudly over every little thing. But what about you two, is this how you act as parents? I really want to ask you: in all the years you grew up with me, did I ever scold you, hit you, or roar at you over anything bad? Don’t you know that what you’re doing now is really hurting your son? Put yourself in his place: the way you treat your son is how he’ll treat you in the future. Even if you’re his parents, you’re no exception. He doesn’t ask for much, he just hopes to have a happy, safe, and peaceful family. But in this lifetime, that wish of his seems far too hard to come by. His grandparents have never shown up even once from the moment he was born until now. How could his heart possibly not hurt? Since his heart is already this wounded, already suffering this much, why do you still have to be so harsh with him?”

”Grandpa, I didn’t see it that way. I just feel that since he’s my son, shouldn’t he obey his parents’ discipline? It’s so late at night and he still didn’t come home, and then some accident happened outside—what are we supposed to do? Do you know how we’re supposed to bear that? Sometimes being a parent is the hardest thing in the world. You have to worry if your child is fed and clothed, and you’re also afraid he’ll be hurt in any way or suffer even a little injury. But you also have to take care of his feelings and can’t let him be sad. Don’t you think being a parent is really hard? I really have tried my best to be my son’s father. But what he did today really made me angry. I honestly never expected him to act like this...”

The unique warmth in your gaze—I don’t know what comfort you didn’t say out loud, or what it really was.
