My Alleged Husband

Chapter 2140: Chapter 1973: Breaking Out of the Cocoon and Becoming a Butterfly

I never believed there would be a day I regret what I did, but now I truly understand that there are things one will indeed regret!

”Dad, I’m your biological son, can’t you just help me with this? What is it to you to give me a hand, it’s just a small effort for you. Why won’t you make a little effort for me?” Zhang Zhentian felt utterly helpless, infuriated beyond words by his father, speaking incoherently, almost without choosing his words, causing Old Master Zhang distress upon hearing them. It seemed no matter how much a father gave for his son, he was still perceived as unrewarding, his efforts unrecognized, leaving him wondering how he could possibly make his ungrateful son understand the exhaustion he felt.

”Do you realize how much it pains me inside to hear what you’ve said today? I’ve sacrificed so much for you, yet why do I seem absent in your eyes? Can’t you think for a moment when you act? Can’t you consider the other person’s feelings when you speak? Are you always so selfish, speaking and acting without regard for others’ feelings? It was like this before, it’s been like this all along, will it still be like this? After all these years, without any improvement, still like before? You make me feel ashamed before Zhang family ancestors, how did I father such an unfilial son, someone so thoughtless? I hope the words you said today are uttered only today, for if you ever speak to me like this again, I will never forgive you. In the past, I took your words as childish ignorance, but now you have your own child, and yet you still utter such words, which makes them hard for me to accept. Haven’t I sacrificed enough for you? Each time you made mistakes, who was it that helped you out? Yet you remain arrogant, self-righteous, never considering your father’s feelings. How dare you call yourself my son, let alone a Zhang family member? I feel ashamed for the ancestors of Zhang family because of you!”

”Since you’re unwilling to help me, let it be, consider I never asked you. I won’t trouble you with these things again, so I hope you remember every word you said today, this is how a father speaks to his son. I admit I’ve been unfilial all these years, never stayed by your side nor served you, it’s my son who has been accompanying you. But he’s my son, his companionship is akin to mine to you. Why do you nitpick over these things? Let’s set aside prejudice and live happily together, isn’t that good?”

After finishing his words, Zhang Zhentian turned and exited the Zhang family’s gate, deciding not to seek his father’s help anymore. Now he understood that his father wouldn’t help him no matter what, leaving him to turn to his own son; perhaps only his son could help him, maybe with his son’s help there was a glimmer of hope.

”Son, if you still acknowledge me as your dad, I hope you could do me a favor, persuade your mom not to leave me, to come back to me, is it possible for our family to live together happily? If your mom leaves me, how heartbroken I would be!”

”You now tell me, seeing mom you’re hurt inside, but have you considered how hurtful it was for me when you heartlessly left me, for grandpa, who is your biological father, it’s received? You could do such a cruel thing to your flesh and blood, mom treating you like this is justified. I won’t help you persuade mom to come back to you, conversely, I feel it’s happiness for her to be apart, to live the life she wants without compromise. I know she has been unhappy, forcing herself to stay with you, not wanting to bring you any regret, yet you heartlessly abandoned her. Now that you’ve chosen to abandon her, don’t foolishly ask her to return. Your thinking is wrong, my mom certainly won’t come back because of your sweet words, you should know how resolute she is. She won’t regret her decisions, you heartlessly abandoned her, causing irreversible harm. Why should she return to endure suffering again when she can live happily as she wishes?”

”Are you still my son? How can you say such things? Do you know how hurtful your words are? Why have you become like this? I believe your grandfather taught you these words, right? I never imagined my father could be so heartless, bringing up my son poorly. You only prove his lack of education in teaching you well, making you an ill-mannered child.”

”Anyone else can speak, but not you. I’m a child raised painstakingly by grandpa, having nothing to do with you. You think you might forget it when you abandoned me? Now you scold my grandpa, who is your biological father, you have no right, especially when he sacrificed so much for you. You’re the one with least qualification to talk about grandpa. If I hear you malign my grandpa again, I won’t let it slide. You dare because you fathered me? Repeatedly hurting those who love you, we may forgive, but I can’t forgive maligning my grandpa! Do not contact me anymore, nor meet, seeing you reminds me of your words about grandpa, bringing only pain to my heart...”

Believe one day, I’ll break out of the cocoon and become a butterfly, and time will bring us together again!
