My Alleged Husband

Chapter 2122: Chapter 1955: Reality

I’ve had so many unrealistic thoughts before, and I never imagined that everything I did would lead to this kind of ending. More than anyone, I wanted this family to live a happy life.

”You think I don’t want that? All these years I’ve been testing myself, trying to give you up, forget you, not keep you in my heart anymore. But I’ve never been able to forget you. Do you have any idea how desperate that feels? I also wanted to start a new life, but your shadow, your smiling face, wander through my mind every single day. I have no way to make that disappear.

For you, I’ve waited all these years. And you? You got married early, had a child, but I don’t mind. All I want is to have you!”

”You really don’t have to rack your brains to track me down anymore. No matter how nice what you say sounds, no matter how many sweet words you pour out, I won’t believe them. All I want now is a stable life. I don’t want our meeting to destroy my marriage with my husband. All I want is for us to live happily, that’s more important than anything else to me. If you still have even a tiny bit of love for me in your heart, if there’s even the slightest part that hasn’t forgotten me, then please, let me go. Let me walk my own path in life. Stop disturbing the peaceful life I finally have, okay?”

”Since you really won’t give me another chance to try being with you, then stay and drink with me properly tonight. We don’t go home until we’re drunk. After tonight, from this moment on, I swear I’ll never bother you again. You walk your broad road in the sun, I’ll cross my single-plank bridge; after that, we mind our own business and stay out of each other’s way. How about it?”

Ran Zhihan hesitated for a while, but in the end she still decided to stay here and drink with her old classmate. She just didn’t expect that the drinking this very night would make her the target of suspicion for wanting a divorce.

”Remember what you just said. If you can do that, then I’ll drink with you properly tonight. We won’t go home until we’re drunk!” Ran Zhihan thought her husband didn’t know, but she had no idea that his eyes were on her every move. She was the only one still kept in the dark. She believed that as long as she could destroy all the evidence, nothing would be discovered. But what she didn’t know was that her husband had already been watching her before this, monitoring everything she did. To the very end, he had never truly, completely trusted her.

”Don’t worry. As long as you drink a good round with me tonight and don’t go home, just stay here with me, I will definitely keep the promise I made to you!”

Chen Gang watched the woman in front of him lift the glass and start drinking. His mood instantly improved a lot. All he ever wanted was to be with the woman he loved. Yet after waiting in vain for so many years, he ended up with nothing, not even an explanation. He’d worked so hard to finish school, gone abroad, and then come back, only to find the woman he loved had long since married and had a child. How was he supposed to accept that?

Glass after glass, Chen Gang poured the liquor down Ran Zhihan’s throat. She knew she couldn’t hold her liquor that well, but facing this old classmate, she forced herself to keep drinking anyway. Who knew that when she was completely wasted, Chen Gang would take her back to his place.

”Zhihan, do you know how hard these years have been for me? Whenever I think I might be able to be with you, I suddenly feel my whole body relax. All I want is for the woman I love the most to be with me. But you married early and had a child. I know you’re no longer a ’pure’ woman, but I still want to be with you. I want to have the reality of husband and wife with you!

I hope you won’t blame me for tricking you tonight. Maybe when you wake up you’ll find it hard to accept, but I really couldn’t hold back anymore. I really want to be with you. After waiting more than ten years, this is the result I get—how could I possibly be willing to accept that? I already investigated your marriage. During this period you’ve been running into constant conflicts; it’s not as happy as it looks from the outside. Since that’s the case, why shouldn’t I seize this chance to take you back to my side, make it so that for the rest of your life you can only stay in my arms, never fall into anyone else’s hands again? All I want is your company. All I want is your gentleness toward me!”

Chen Gang spoke his innermost thoughts to the completely drunk, limp Ran Zhihan.

......

Dawn slowly broke. Looking at the person in his arms, he felt he was the happiest man in the world. He had finally gotten the love he’d wanted so badly. He had forced himself to endure for so long, and at last he’d gotten the woman he loved most. Even though the means were improper, it still fulfilled a wish he’d carried in his heart for years.

Zhang Yichen watched as his wife was brought home by Chen Gang and didn’t come out the whole night, yet he chose to say nothing. He went back home and quietly waited for his wife to return and give him an explanation. He had no idea what excuses and lies she would use this time to deceive him.

Ran Zhihan opened her eyes groggily. She thought the man next to her was her husband, but when she opened her eyes fully and saw clearly, she realized she had made the greatest mistake of her life.

”Chen Gang, why is it you? What exactly did you do to me? Why did I spend the night here? Didn’t you say that as long as I stayed and drank with you last night, you would never interfere with my life again? You actually lied to me? How could you treat me like this? What did I ever do to offend you, what wrong did I do to you? Is it really so hard for me to just live my own life? Do you have to break into my life and turn it upside down before you feel satisfied? I told you, you and I are impossible. Now that you’ve made me like this, how am I supposed to face my husband when I go back? He’ll see in one glance exactly what I went through last night. Why did you have to do this to me?”

”This is exactly what I want. I want you to divorce your husband. Only then will I have the chance to take you back to my side. I just want you to stay with me. Maybe that means nothing to you, but to me it’s a matter of life and death. All I want is the woman I love most. These past few years I’ve been forcing myself to endure my longing for you, throwing myself into my studies, all so that one day I could achieve something and bring you back to my side, give you the happiest life. But when I returned to the country, I found you were already married. I don’t care whether you’ve had a child, whether you married someone else. What I care about is whether you can be with me or not!”

But in the end, it was still my unrealistic fantasies that ruined everything!
