My Alleged Husband

Chapter 2127: Chapter 1960: Awakening

What awakening? Since you left, there’s no ending between us; even if there is an ending, it was guessed long ago.

”Grandpa, actually I don’t quite understand what you mean? I just want to know, if according to your meaning, we shouldn’t blame anyone, because Heaven is fair, don’t blame Heaven’s unfairness to you, and don’t blame humans for being unfair to you. But Grandpa, do you know? Many things can’t be solved just by not complaining!”

”Then tell me, which things are you talking about?”

”Grandpa, to be honest, even if my parents chose to abandon me, I have never thought about blaming them, because I feel that no matter how much harm they caused me, it is understandable, especially after hearing that girl in my dream advising me repeatedly. It strengthened my belief. But I don’t understand why the final result turned out like this. Grandpa, he has hurt me so many times; even if they are my parents, I can’t continue to repay wrongdoing with kindness, because that is truly difficult for me. I’ve forsaken my principles for them time and again, cleaned up their messes, but they don’t appreciate it and repeatedly hurt my lifelong happiness. Grandpa, do you think this is fair for me as a grandson?” Zhang Yichen asked.

Old Master Zhang didn’t know how to answer his grandson. No matter how he answered, one side would inevitably be hurt. This isn’t the outcome he wanted to see, but what kind of choice should he make so that the two people he loves most won’t be hurt by his actions?

”Child, you know, for so many years, you’ve understood everything but chosen not to speak. Grandpa understands your suffering, but many things aren’t as simple as you imagine. This world is cruel; if you don’t hurt others, others will hurt you. But will hurting back and forth ever lead to a good result?”

”Grandpa, then tell me, what should I do to ensure that neither of them gets hurt?”

”Child, these things aren’t solved just by Grandpa saying them; you have to act yourself. Like you said, for years, you repaid wrongdoing with kindness, and you’ve forgotten so much of it. Are you really lacking just this one or two times? You’ve overcome one challenge after another, so why not this time? Why can’t you overcome it?”

”Grandpa, it’s not that I don’t want to pass this challenge from my heart, but I truly can’t anymore. My parents have done so many things, don’t you know? People all have eyes; won’t they gossip when they see? Grandpa, please consider for me. I’m truly feeling heart-tired; this doesn’t lead to a good result for you and me! You all think I lost my memory, so I should forget everything that happened before. But have you considered that I didn’t completely lose my memory? I have a chance to recover my past memories, and I’m already slowly recovering them. But why are all the scenes that appear in my mind the ones of my biological parents harming the woman I love? Grandpa, do you know that these scenes only deepen my inner pain? I thought once I lost my memory, I wouldn’t have to search for my past memories again or recall how my parents hurt me, but Heaven is just that unfair, making me gradually recover my memory, bringing such a massive blow. Grandpa, I know, every time you taught me, it was in hopes that I could be a kind and upright gentleman. I’ve always been striving toward the target you set for me. Grandpa, I beg you, sometimes consider it from my angle! They can hurt their son’s lifelong happiness for selfish interests; then what wouldn’t they do? With repeated harm, do I have to choose to endure shame and survival to tolerate the harm they caused me? Can’t I rise up and fight back? Grandpa, I’m human, not wood; they hurt me, and I can perceive pain and sadness, but I choose not to speak, because when the family is harmonious, everything prospers. Yet in their eyes, it’s not the same; they only perceive their needed interests; no matter the cost, he’s willing to pay, even if it’s his life!”

Old Master Zhang listened to his grandson and knew things had become even more complicated instead of clarified. It wasn’t intentional, but how could he resolve the hatred between these two people?

”Child, when has Grandpa not considered your problems from your angle repeatedly, every time? But you, do you have even a little gratitude towards me? Like you said, you’re human, you have feelings and know heartache, but doesn’t Grandpa also feel heartache and sadness? Often, you feel your parents have never considered issues from your angle, but have you ever thought about their reasons? Why are they doing this? They hope you can live well. Child, at any time, please don’t hate your parents because they haven’t done anything wrong. Their love for you is true love, just expressed in the wrong way. I’ve already said this not just once but twice, three times, four times. I don’t know if you’ve taken it to heart, but Grandpa understands, as long as I’ve said it to you, you’ve always kept it in your mind. You’ve just chosen ’do or don’t do,’ without knowing if you should follow Grandpa’s advice, or whether to listen to Grandpa...”

Zhang Yichen felt a bit awkward. He has never seen his grandpa shed a tear, but just now, he saw a tear glisten under his grandpa’s eye. He knew his grandpa cried sadly because of him, and he felt unforgivable for his mistakes.

Thinking again now, Zhang Yichen realized he has indeed gone against many of grandpa’s wishes, not following his words, leading to the current situation.

”Grandpa, thank you for your guidance; now I understand everything. Though your frank advice may be hard to hear, it’s beneficial. Without your repeated guidance, I wouldn’t have today’s achievements. Grandpa, I still say this: since things have happened, I’ll choose to let them go and never mention them again, as it would be no different from revealing our own scars. I don’t want such things to occur between the two of us. Grandpa, let’s live joyfully and happily as a family!”

We are all striving to live, waking up and getting drunk in the bitterness and sweetness, stubborn yet fragile, still fragile.
