The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Chapter 742: Chapter 742 As If Hearing the Old Woman Sharpening Her Knife

Madam Song felt her worldview had been completely shattered and reset.

She had lived many years and seen countless mothers-in-law send women into their sons’ rooms, but this was the first time she saw a father-in-law gifting his son a beautiful maid, bypassing the mother-in-law. Is he still a man?

It’s common for a father-in-law to gift his son a beautiful maid, but shouldn’t it go through the wife?

Yet in her household, he bypassed the mother-in-law and came to do it himself.

Madam Song was disgusted to the point of vomiting up the bird’s nest soup she just consumed.

The crowd: ”...”

Old Master Song’s plump face darkened.

Such rudeness in front of the father-in-law, Gu Shi, are you being polite?

Madam Song didn’t care about manners. Ever since she got pregnant with this child, she had been suspicious, doubting whether, since she was not young, and Song Zhiyuan was in his prime, he would seek other women for relief while she was unable to fulfill her duties. She was worried.

Later she thought, even if Song Zhiyuan actually slept with some courtesan or maid outside, she would just pretend not to hear as long as he didn’t bring them home.

That’s what she thought, but she feared most that Song Ci would suddenly gift a beautiful maid, which would be a fatal blow, as that came with the mother-in-law’s authority.

However, throughout this stage of her pregnancy, Song Ci hadn’t appeared, but Old Master Song did.

This father-in-law, who was practically an outsider in the Song Mansion and spent fewer than ten days a month at home, instead liked to spend time outside. Everyone thought as long as he didn’t mess up major affairs, he could take concubines and squander silver coins as he pleased. The family wasn’t short on money, after all. As long as he stayed healthy, it was fine.

But this supposedly harmless person unexpectedly stabbed her right in the heart.

”Just pick two, and the rest can be taken away by the second daughter-in-law when they return,” Old Master Song said impatiently.

Madam Song looked at the six beautiful young maids, each with her own charm, quickly calculating in her mind. Six, two for each room?

What about the Commandery Princess?

This was not the time to inquire. The immediate issue was these wretched maids. An idea struck Madam Song; she held her belly and let out a soft sound before sliding down.

She had trusted maids by her side. As she slumped down, two maids screamed in alarm, ”Madam, what happened to you?”

Old Master Song was startled, his plump flesh quivering, ”What, what’s the matter? You useless idiots, help her up!”

If the child was lost, wouldn’t it be blamed on him?

It was as if he heard the sharpening of the matriarch’s knife.

”My belly hurts,” Madam Song, already pale from the shock, genuinely felt a slight pain in her belly in her panic.

”Quickly, call the doctor, and take the Madam back to her courtyard,” Aunt Mei quickly instructed.

Shui Lianlian stood anxiously beside them.

If something went wrong with the Madam’s belly, they would all be finished.

Chaos erupted as someone went to summon the doctor, while Madam Song’s confidants went to call for Lin Qing. A maid carefully lifted Madam Song to leave.

Soon, Songhe Hall was deserted except for Old Master Song and the six maidservants. Even Shui Lianlian, filled with worry, followed Aunt Mei to the main courtyard.

She feared she would soon have to face the Lady Dowager’s wrath alone.

What, the old master would protect her?

Yeah, right. If he could protect her, he wouldn’t have drunk the infertility medicine back then.

Looking at the now empty Songhe Hall and the unchanged group of maidservants, Old Master Song felt something was off.

The maidservants exchanged glances, collectively turning to Old Master Song. Wasn’t everyone supposed to listen to you in this family?

This is it?
