The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Chapter 736: Chapter 736: Donned the Armor

The third wife of the Duke Mansion, isn’t she Song Ruqi?

Everyone looked towards the screen, and indeed saw Song Ruqi dressed in luxurious attire appearing in view, and couldn’t help but be a bit surprised.

In their impression, although Song Ruqi also liked to dress brightly and dazzlingly, she had never been as extravagant and ostentatious as she was now, high and unattainable.

She was wearing a festive new style of large spring gown, her hair arranged in a high bun, with two exquisite hairpins adorned with kingfisher feathers lightly swaying beside her temples. In addition, some pearls and jewels were interspersed between the hair, extremely dazzling.

Such luxurious attire naturally had to be matched with a bright makeup; her face was meticulously made up, from head to toe, not a single part was not refined and expensive.

The most striking was the hint of determination and noble arrogance on her slightly upturned face.

The once spoiled little girl was gone, replaced by an arrogant and sharp-tongued young woman.

Song Ci sighed inwardly. After experiencing the sorrow of losing a child, the little girl finally donned her tough armor, sharp and unyielding.

Song Ruqian also had a moment of distraction but quickly returned to normal. Rather than wallowing in self-pity, she would prefer her sister to be armed with thorns, bravely cutting through obstacles.

”Grandmother, Second Aunt, Third Aunt.” Song Ruqi stepped forward, giving a polite bow to them, then smiled at Song Ruqian: ”Elder sister, congratulations on the birth of your noble son.”

”Everyone is here, just waiting for you.” Song Ruqian teased with a smile: ”Were you late because you took time to dress so elaborately?”

Song Ruqi glanced at her attire: ”I wouldn’t want to lose face for my elder sister.”

Song Ruqian sighed gently, and Song Ci, seeing this, tactfully invited the two daughters-in-law to step out, leaving the space for the two sisters.

Once the elders left, Song Ruqian reached out to her sister. After a brief hesitation, her sister handed her hand over and then sat beside her on the bed, calling out coquettishly, ”Sister...”

Song Ruqian’s eyes became slightly moist, and she said with a hint of choking: ”I thought you wouldn’t come.”

”It’s a good day for you and the baby. I’m also the biological aunt of the baby. How could I not come to his bath ceremony?” Song Ruqi feigned a lighthearted smile: ”Besides, I want to share some of my elder sister’s good fortune, so I can grab a sweet date later, and have a big chubby boy next year.”

At these words, both of them couldn’t help but feel a bit of sadness.

Song Ruqian pulled her into her arms, her eyes turning red.

If not for the incident last year, both sisters would have given birth to their first sons, but fate had imposed such a loss.

Song Ruqi also felt a sting in her nose, tears welling up in her eyes, quickly forming a drop that slid down her cheek.

”He will come again, he always will,” Song Ruqian said, patting her back.

Song Ruqi responded with a hum, gently pushing her away, and smiled: ”Alright, on such a good day, let’s not dwell in tears. Quickly bring my nephew to me so I can have a look.”

Song Ruqian didn’t want to stir her sadness and called loudly for the baby to be brought in.

The maid and wet nurse soon brought a swaddled baby in. Song Ruqi eagerly stood up, took the child, and looked down.

The baby, only a few days old, hadn’t grown much yet. His skin was still a bit red, eyebrows faint, but he had thick, dark hair, and very long eyelashes. His eyes were half-open, and his tiny hands were clenched into fists, pressed against his cheeks, unbearably adorable.

Song Ruqi looked at him with eyes full of love, glancing at her elder sister, and said: ”Sister, he is truly beautiful.”

As soon as the words fell, tears couldn’t help but stream down her face.
