The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Chapter 715: Chapter 715: Butler? Not Interested

When the Official Wife enters the household, naturally she must take charge of the household affairs; it would be ridiculous if they were still handled by a concubine. If word got out, it would be laughable.

Thus, Lady Liu personally suggested taking a step back. If it were any ordinary Lady, she would appreciate this as wise and considerate.

Prince Min thought so too.

He looked towards Princess Consort Min: ”The management of household affairs in the estate has always been under the control of the Liu family. Since you’ve joined the household, it’s appropriate to...”

Princess Consort Min interrupted Prince Min without hesitation, ”My Lord, I fall ill easily every spring, and this household management is still best left to Lady Liu and Consort.”

Prince Min’s expression was somewhat inscrutable as he looked at her calmly.

Princess Consort Min lowered her gaze, focusing on the cloud patterns on her clothing.

Managing the household?

For the past twenty years, she has lived like a caged bird, knowing only music, chess, calligraphy, and painting, but never once managing a household.

Though she had tutors teaching such matters, knowing full well she would never manage a household, they only covered it cursorily, without in-depth instruction, let alone practice.

She was self-aware enough; since she was meant to be decoration, she would fulfill that role. Household management was not her concern. Being a caged bird was just fine.

So managing the household?

What a joke, not interested.

Lady Liu was also a bit surprised. She looked at Princess Consort Min, wondering if this was a strategic retreat or genuine disinterest?

After all, managing a household represents holding power. Did she really not want it?

”Consort is getting older and cannot manage forever,” Prince Min remarked.

Princess Consort Min smiled gently, saying, ”In a few days, when Consort Fang and Consort Ji enter the household, you can assign the duties to them, my Lord.”

Prince Min frowned.

Seeing he seemed to insist, Princess Consort Min helplessly confessed, ”My Lord, I’m in poor health and must pray daily. Most importantly, I’ve never managed a household. I see Lady Liu manages well, so let her continue.”

Prince Min looked at her intently for a while, then his expression turned cold as he said, ”In that case, do as you wish.”

The concubines were slightly alarmed, knowing Prince Min well, they realized he was somewhat displeased.

Yet their Princess Consort seemed oblivious, still smilingly expressed her gratitude.

A peculiar person indeed.

After meeting with the concubines, Prince Min left, and Princess Consort Min also dismissed the concubines, citing her need for rest from fatigue.

Once the concubines left the main courtyard, Lady Du softly asked Lady Liu, ”Sister Liu, what do you think of our Princess Consort? Will she truly not compete with you for power?”

Lady Liu gave her a slight look and said, ”The Princess Consort managing the household affairs is certainly legitimate, so where is the competition? I find her nature quite indifferent, and given her status, we just need to show her respect. But it’s the two incoming concubines that are truly worrisome.”

Lady Du, recalling the awkward status of the Princess Consort, felt utterly unthreatened, convinced Lady Liu was the one she should respect. However, those two concubines...

Remembering the foul demeanor of that concubine, Lady Du’s fair face darkened on one side, for that person could certainly stir trouble, humph.

Prince Min then turned to visit Princess Consort Ji, who coincidentally wanted to discuss the household management. She suggested the new bride, unfamiliar with everything, should let her and Lady Liu continue managing the affairs, learning by the side.

”Consort need not worry. When the two concubines enter, they can learn to manage,” Prince Min replied.

Princess Consort Ji was momentarily stunned, then notably pleased, cautiously asking, ”Will you not have Lady Xia manage?”

Prince Min glanced over, his tone cool, ”She already stated she’s in poor health, unwilling, and unable to manage.”

Princess Consort Ji: ”...”

What, it was Lady Xia who refused household management?
