The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Chapter 739: Chapter 739 Song Ci: Look, there’s a pheasant!

After losing a child, Song Ruqi grew up. Caring too much about what others think, what good is a good reputation anyway, if she feels stifled inside? Who truly cares about her own thoughts?

If that’s the case, just act domineeringly, watching others feel stifled is really quite satisfying.

”I won’t say much about you. You, just be reasonable before you act, because by being reasonable, you won’t put yourself in an awkward or weak position.” Song Ruqian said softly, ”It’s good to arm yourself with armor, but don’t hurt yourself, it’s not worth it. The blade should be directed at others, not at yourself. Charging around recklessly is rash; having courage and wisdom is the invincible principle of warfare.”

Song Ruqi nodded, ”Sister, I will.”

Song Ruqian gave her hand a firm squeeze, then asked about her relationship with Qi San, and what thoughts she had on the people bestowed by the Duke’s Madam?

”You can’t force an ox to drink water by pushing its head down. No matter how many maids your mother-in-law gifts you, it won’t matter without his consent. If he doesn’t want to, can your mother-in-law force him to sleep with those maids?”

”Sister!” Song Ruqi stared at her sister. What did she hear?

Song Ruqian also covered her mouth, her eyes flickering.

What did she just say? What kind of beastly words did she use? She was clearly a lady, how did such a word come out of her mouth?

Song Ruqi was equally shocked. Was her sister led astray by someone?

”Well, that’s what Grandmother said.” Song Ruqian awkwardly chuckled.

Song Ruqi: ”...”

Does Grandmother know you’re making her take the blame?

Song Ci, surrounded by female relatives outside, suddenly felt her ears burning.

Someone must be talking about me behind my back!

Song Ruqi said, ”He is at my disposal. I see he seems somewhat uninterested; who knows if it’s because of that lowly maid!”

Song Ruqian felt a tightness in her heart, fearing most that a dead person was holding a place in his heart.

”It’s alright, sister, just a dead person, I don’t believe I can’t beat a dead person.”

”As long as you’re clear in your heart.” Song Ruqian didn’t say much more, patting her hand.

At that time, the washing ceremony had already been prepared outside, inviting Song Ruqi to witness it.

Song Ruqi handed a wallet to Song Ruqian and said, ”This is the peace charm I requested for Yu’er when I burned the Rebirth Scripture for that child at Songshan Temple. Please pin it on him later.”

Song Ruqian took it, saying, ”As your aunt, I won’t say thank you.”

Song Ruqi waved her hand and walked out, meeting the scrutinizing gazes, chin slightly raised, proud like a phoenix.

She looked at the midwife and then at the various red dates, longans, and peanuts in the red basin, her expression calm.

Song Ci stood beside her and whispered, ”Grandmother will help you snatch them.”

Song Ruqi paused, unclear at first, but quickly understood.

The washing ceremony was devout and grand; in the hall, many young wives were eyeing the red basin, gearing up.

With the good fortune of Grandma Gu holding a baby every three years, they must join in.

Once the child was lifted out of the basin and wrapped up, marking the end of the ceremony, just as everyone was about to move, a loud shout was heard.

”Look, a gray chicken.”

Gray chicken, what gray chicken?

Everyone looked in the direction Song Ci was pointing, but saw nothing. Were their eyes failing them?

Turning their heads again, they saw the old lady swiftly using both hands to grab a few dates from the basin and stuffed them into Song Ruqi’s mouth at once.

”Sweet?”

Song Ruqi nodded with tears in her eyes, smiling, ”Sweet as can be.”

Everyone: ”...”

What kind of trick is this?
