The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Chapter 702: Chapter 702: Kid, Listen to Your Wife

Song Zhiyu indeed made Song Ci see him in a new light. Becoming a father has truly changed him; he’s more mature now, though he somewhat resembles a high schooler with a second baby at home.

A newborn baby eats and sleeps, and Niu Honghong is no exception. However, while others are lulled to sleep in their mother’s or nanny’s arms, he is comforted to sleep in his father’s arms.

Song Ci chuckled teasingly, ”Old Four, you’ve taken over the nanny’s job. What’s left for her to do? Don’t scare all the nannies away.”

If Song Zhiyu had milk himself, he would probably feed the child personally.

Song Zhiyu said, ”If she runs away, I’ll find another one.”

After all, it’s not like they can’t afford it.

Nanny Qiu Shi: ”...”

She swore she wouldn’t leave. Is there any position more respectable than being the nanny to the Princely Heir?

Niu Pan’er said, ”Mother, just let him be. This is his first time being a father. If he doesn’t hold his son a few times a day, he feels uneasy all over.”

”I foresee the two of you with him playing the stern role, and you the supportive one. He’s clearly the protective type,” Song Ci said as she sat down.

But judging by how lenient Niu Pan’er is with Song Zhiyu, it’s likely that father and son putting on a pitiful act would make her immediately surrender.

”I’m not like her as a mother; she’s more ruthless,” Song Zhiyu complained. ”Mother, you don’t know. She’s already thinking about soaking Honghong in medicinal baths to temper his muscles.”

Song Ci watched him complain, yet not forgetting to tuck the quilt around his wife, and nodded with satisfaction.

Niu Pan’er said, ”Precisely because he’s young, it’s better to strengthen his muscles from an early age rather than wait until he’s older. The sooner the better.”

”But does it have to start now? I think you’re just picking on him.”

Niu Pan’er looked somewhat helplessly at Song Ci; she was at a loss.

Song Ci lightly chided, ”What do you, a weakling who can’t lift or handle anything, know? Pan’er is trained in martial arts; she naturally knows what’s best for the child. Would a mother harm her own son?”

Song Zhiyu shrank his neck and said, ”I didn’t say she’d harm him, just that she’s harsh.”

Also, dear mother, could you please save some of my dignity? Calling me a weakling in front of my wife doesn’t preserve my pride at all.

”What does Honghong know now? Medicinal baths, as long as they’re administered properly, do more good than harm for the child. I’ve heard that if tempered well, he could become immune to all poisons. If you wait until later, it might be too late,” Song Ci said. ”Old Four, you’re surely going to be the one who can’t bear to part with the child. But if Pan’er and the Prince have plans for Honghong, you must not obstruct them; listen to your wife.”

Song Zhiyu felt a bit wronged. Is it wrong for him to feel sorry for his child as a father?

”Every parent feels for their child. But Old Four, Honghong’s destiny was set the moment he was born. He is to inherit the Prince Mansion and will one day face the battlefield. The battlefield is akin to hell on earth; blades and swords do not have eyes, and a moment’s carelessness could lead to deadly consequences. The stronger his physique and the higher his martial proficiency, the greater his chances of survival. With this understanding, will you still stop Pan’er?”

Song Zhiyu was taken aback.

”You must sacrifice now to gain later. The hardships of today are the sweets of tomorrow. Remember, to spoil a child is akin to harming them. No matter how much you feel for him, there must be limits, unless you wish for the tragic scenario of outliving your child.”

The words were harsh but necessary to convey the gravity of what their child’s upbringing signifies: a journey filled with challenges and not a smooth path ahead. Gaining more survival skills is beneficial.

The two were deeply struck and hurriedly said, ”Mother, we understand.”
