The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Chapter 740: Chapter 740: The Old Master is Playing Tricks

The Gu Family’s third-day celebration was bustling with excitement. At the Song Mansion, Madam Song was also glowing with joy, having eaten two bowls of bird’s nest porridge. She was being supported by two sturdy maidservants as she strolled in the courtyard.

Lin Qing had mentioned that this pregnancy was not easy for her, especially considering her age, and it had been over a decade since her last child. It’s important to be cautious, but she couldn’t remain completely inactive, or she would suffer greatly during childbirth.

So for the past two months, aside from eating well and sleeping well, she was helped by the maidservants to stroll in the courtyard, making childbirth a bit easier.

”Madam,” Jie Gen hurried over and curtsied, ”the Old Master has returned to the mansion.”

Madam Song was a bit surprised and smiled, ”So he’s back. Has the Old Master returned to his courtyard yet?”

Song Ci did not live in the same courtyard as the Old Master. He had his own place called Songhe Hall. When he was at the mansion, he either stayed in Songhe Hall or went to the courtyards of his two concubines.

He had wanted to spend the night at Song Ci’s Chunhui Hall, but for many years, the Madam was no longer welcoming.

Jie Gen, however, had a somewhat peculiar and unspeakable expression on her face.

Seeing this, Madam Song stopped in her tracks and asked, ”What is it?”

Jie Gen hesitantly replied, ”The Old Master brought several young women back to the mansion.”

Madam Song’s face twitched. Again?

Was her father-in-law deliberately waiting for the Madam to be away before bringing people back here, and now he brought several at once? The old gentleman certainly was in good health!

Madam Song felt a bit of a headache, sensing that her mother-in-law might blow up upon her return.

”Madam, the Old Master has sent someone to invite you to Songhe Hall for a talk,” reported Mama Liang as she arrived.

Madam Song sighed, placing her hand back on the maidservant’s hand, ”Help me to pay respects to the Old Master. Mama Liang, take a plaque and go to the Gu Family to fetch the Madam back to the mansion.”

She glanced at Mama Liang, her eyes speaking volumes, and the latter understood, curtsied, and went off.

Songhe Hall.

Shui Lianlian felt particularly uneasy and troubled, glancing at the unaffected Aunt Pan nearby, timidly asking, ”Sister Mei, with the Old Master behaving like this, won’t the Madam hold us accountable and sell us off?”

Initially, when she became a concubine to the Old Master, it was as per Song Ci’s arrangement. There would be no offspring, and in fact, the Old Master didn’t want children either, so he took infertility medicine. At first, it was inevitable to feel a bit unwilling, but later, it became a habit.

Song Ci did not enforce strict rules on them, so they followed the Old Master everywhere, being treated as legitimate mistresses even outside the mansion. Their allowances and servants were more than sufficient, providing a lifestyle more comfortable than a typical small family wife. Their primary role was essentially to keep the Old Master in check.

But now, the Old Master attended a banquet and brought back several young women. It would be fine if he kept them for himself, but now he seemed intent on causing trouble.

If the Madam found out, would she strangle them for handling things poorly?

Aunt Mei also looked frustrated and said, ”We have tried to persuade him, but we are just lowly concubines. How can we defy the Old Master?”

”But...”

”Don’t worry, given the Madam’s temperament, those little lasses certainly can’t stay,” Aunt Mei assured confidently, ”They’re dreaming if they think they can enjoy the wealth of the Song Mansion.”

The Madam is a force to be reckoned with!

Shui Lianlian recalled the conditions when she initially entered the mansion, and her mind gradually settled down.
