The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Chapter 703: Chapter 703: The Representative Figure of Lying Flat in Life

”Pan’er, don’t blame me for speaking harshly, but I speak from the heart, and you should understand the status of the Prince Mansion.” Song Ci watched as Song Zhiyu impatiently walked out, leaving her no choice but to look helplessly at her daughter-in-law.

Niu Pan’er hurriedly said, ”Mother, please don’t say that, we all understand you’re thinking about the good of the Prince Mansion and for Hong Hong.”

Song Ci: ”The fourth one has been spoiled by us. When he was born, his elder brother had already achieved fame, and the Song Family had changed completely. There was no need for him to strive for fame and success, and being the youngest, he was allowed to let himself go and grow freely. To put it bluntly, the fourth one is the type that has foolish luck.”

Niu Pan’er smiled: ”Sir is naturally born into wealth and nobility.”

”Yes, at home he has his elder brother, and later on, he has you. To speak frankly, as long as Prince Dingbei’s Mansion stands, he will be the kind of wealthy idle person who can go through life smoothly.” Song Ci sighed at Song Zhiyu’s fortunate life, saying, ”And it is because of this that he lives freely and as he pleases. As his mother, I’m naturally pleased. A child’s health and happiness are above all else.”

How could he not have a good life, with a thriving family and a strong wife’s family? If they raise a capable son, living an easy life is not too much to ask!

”But Pan’er, what you hope for in your heart is one thing, you cannot ignore reality. With three generations at Prince Dingbei’s Mansion, your father is elderly, and you, honoring as a Commandery Princess, who has a child, might have Hong Hong established as the Princely Heir in the future. If he becomes the Princely Heir, he must bear the responsibilities of the Prince Mansion, so you shouldn’t neglect his education out of affection.”

Niu Pan’er straightened her expression and said, ”My father mentioned in his letter that if this child is a son, after he turns one, a memorial will be submitted to the Emperor requesting his establishment as the Princely Heir of the Prince Mansion.”

As she spoke, she paused, pursed her lips, and said somewhat apologetically to Song Ci, ”But this way, mother, Hong Hong will truly bear the surname Niu.”

The eldest son takes the mother’s surname, and she feared her mother-in-law might feel uneasy.

Song Ci saw her tension and apologies and patted her hand to comfort her, saying, ”Whether the child takes whose surname, they are the same. They are the children of you and Sir, the blood of both the Niu and Song families. I don’t mind, and this is a mutual understanding between our two families.”

Niu Pan’er was deeply moved: ”Mother...”

”Actually, when you married Sir, it was also as if he married into your family. But during holidays, you always return to the Song Family, giving him the respect he deserves. You are filial to his parents-in-law, raising children, you have fulfilled the role of a daughter-in-law and need not feel guilty.”

”Mother, please don’t say that. To be the Song Family’s daughter-in-law is my fortune. The Song Family is wonderful, and Sir is wonderful. I just feel like I’ve wronged him.” Niu Pan’er declared, ”Mother, rest assured, if Sir and I are fortunate to have another child, regardless of gender, the second will follow his surname.”

”Good.” Song Ci didn’t actually care, but she nodded along.

Niu Pan’er’s eyes curved in delight.

”Pan’er, Sir is carefree and it’s you who bears the weight. His nature is kind, I just fear he might indulge the child too much and spoil him, leading to regrets in the future.” Song Ci said, ”I’ll still say this, be strict in Hong Hong’s upbringing. Don’t go soft because Sir pleads or acts shamelessly. If he truly goes too far, just come to me, and I’ll discipline him.”

”Please rest assured, mother, as much as Sir loves the child, he also understands the principles.”

Listen to her tone, protecting her husband.

Song Ci chuckled, ”Alright then, I’ll be the bad guy, and you just protect him.”

Song Baoyu, this fortunate one, she confessed, made her envious.
