The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Chapter 714: Chapter 714: The New Princess is Flawless

The Imperial Concubine Ji intended to establish rules for the new daughter-in-law, but the latter was very compliant, voluntarily standing aside to serve dishes, with impeccable etiquette.

It was Prince Min, however, who, either out of affection or some other reason, asked her to sit down.

”I have said before, you are the Princess, these tasks of serving dishes are for the servants to handle, there’s no need for you to do them.”

The Imperial Concubine Ji glanced at her son and also said, ”Ze’er is right, you should sit down and eat.”

The Princess Consort of Prince Min smiled faintly in thanks and sat down.

Silence at the table, and no talking while eating.

The Imperial Concubine Ji, with the corner of her eye, swept over the Princess Consort of Prince Min’s dining etiquette, somewhat surprised.

This Commandery Princess of the former dynasty was born long after the country perished, her close relatives having all perished as well, leaving her to be fostered by Prince Xin. What future could someone living under another’s roof expect? Perhaps not three meals a day, but don’t think too much about grooming.

However, seeing the other’s etiquette, it overturned her understanding.

Observing the other’s straight posture, every gesture and movement exuded nobility and elegance, not a sound was made, even when chewing food, her mouth moved gently and quietly.

Perilously, it made her feel ashamed of herself.

The Imperial Concubine Ji silently put down the crab roe soup dumpling she had picked up, realizing that eating this would inevitably make a sound when sucking the soup, better not to eat it.

Seeing the Imperial Concubine Ji put down her chopsticks, the Princess Consort of Prince Min also put down hers, rinsing her mouth with the tea handed over by a maid, spitting it into a spittoon, then wiping her lips with a hot towel before looking at her mother-in-law.

The Imperial Concubine Ji: ”...”

Although Prince Min did not directly look, he observed the interaction between the mother-in-law and daughter-in-law, the corner of his lips curled slightly.

”I am full, you may leave.” The Imperial Concubine Ji lost the desire to continue eating, at least not in front of this daughter-in-law, as it was not delightful.

The Princess Consort of Prince Min stood up, bowed, and left with Prince Min.

Once they left, the Imperial Concubine Ji picked up her chopsticks again and reached for the soup dumplings.

The servant women who were about to serve her hands and clear the early meal: ”...”

The statement of being full was false.

Main courtyard.

Prince Min and the Princess Consort of Prince Min took their seats at the main table to meet the concubines and children of the rear courtyard.

The first to offer tea was Concubine Liu, who had given birth to an illegitimate son, leading her son Chu Hongsong forward, both with respectful expressions.

The Princess Consort of Prince Min knew that this Liu was quite valued by both Prince Min and the Imperial Concubine Ji. Having borne the eldest illegitimate son and managing the internal affairs of the Prince Mansion, her status was naturally higher than other concubines.

Looking at Liu, with an oval face, almond-shaped eyes, and arched eyebrows, her hair simply styled, adorned with only a turquoise hairpin and a gold-green tassel step shake, she appeared older yet more dignified than other extravagantly dressed concubines.

Her son, aged about five or six, resembled his mother, also born with a proper appearance.

The Princess Consort of Prince Min presented a set of gold-plated jewelry, while the child received a Jade Pendant.

Next was Concubine Du, who had a charming and enchanting figure, not appearing her age despite having a daughter, striking as a young girl, and with a sweet tongue, she received an exquisite pair of bracelets, and her daughter received a string of Southern Pearls.

Two other concubines also received gifts of step shakes and necklaces, according to their status.

Concubine Liu smiled and said, ”Apart from Sister Qin who was too weak to leave the Xuzhou Prince Mansion, all the sisters have come to the capital. Sister Qin wrote that she will personally greet the Princess Consort when she has the chance.”

The Princess Consort of Prince Min naturally didn’t care. Her nature was aloof, and with her status, why would she care about a mere concubine?

Seeing her smiling faintly, a glint flashed in Concubine Liu’s eyes, ”Prince, now that the Princess Consort has entered the household, shouldn’t the management of the internal affairs of the Prince Mansion be handed over to the Princess Consort?”
