The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Chapter 716: Chapter 716 Undoubtedly a Buddhist Princess

For Princess Consort Min’s decision not to take charge of the household, everyone in the Prince Mansion was quite puzzled. Even Wan Chun was somewhat confused. Isn’t managing the household something that a Princess should do, given her status? It symbolizes having power, so why not take it?

”Why should I take it?”

Princess Consort Min reclined on the chaise lounge and looked at her maid, asking in return, ”What use do I have for taking it?”

Wan Chun was stunned for a moment and said, ”It’s also a change...”

”What good is this change to me?” Princess Consort Min propped her chin and sighed, ”Wan Chun, even if your master changes her identity, it can’t change my origins.”

Wan Chun’s expression changed slightly, and she pressed her lips together.

”My origins are there, determining that my life’s path is destined to be unchangeable. Living peacefully to natural old age might just be my great fortune. Changing my identity now is merely changing a place to reside. How things were before, they will be in the future. Do you think your master being a Princess Consort in charge of the household affairs means my life will be unbounded?” Princess Consort Min gave a self-mocking smile, ”The Prince and I haven’t even consummated the marriage, do you not know?”

The only one serving closely was Wan Chun, and she only used Wan Chun, so the latter knew her physical condition.

Wan Chun’s face changed again, and she said softly, ”Right now it’s not, but that doesn’t mean in the future...”

”Probably won’t happen. He likely feels uneasy in his heart. This way is also good; I don’t have to worry, nor do I need to compete with those people for anything.” Princess Consort Min curled her lips and added, ”So, for what reason should I take charge of the household affairs?”

Wan Chun remained silent.

”Wan Chun, only those who have tasted the flavor of power will want to taste it again and desire more. You know, I have always been a pampered bird in a cage, just waiting to be fed is enough. What do I know of the taste of power? Even managing household affairs, I would still be living cautiously within the four walls of this mansion, without daring to wish for anything else. So why should I waste my efforts handling social connections for him?”

”But Master, if you don’t manage the household, I’m afraid those servants will flatter and step over you. Master, there are more people in the inner court who follow power than you might imagine.” Wan Chun feared her master might suffer grievances.

Princess Consort Min smiled and shook her head, ”They wouldn’t dare, nor would the Prince allow it because, although your master may be a decoration, she is one that cannot be disregarded, valued by the Heavenly Family.”

That person wants to place her high so that those who are supposed to see her see that she is well.

So that person won’t let her suffer any grievances because she has to live well.

Since no matter what she lives under others’ watchful eyes, she might as well continue being a gilded cage bird, only needing to have food and clothes provided. Why bother dealing with all those troublesome affairs? No need for heartache. With that effort, wouldn’t it be better to copy a few more pages of Buddhist scriptures or play a few more tunes?

Wan Chun felt her master had truly become more Buddhist in nature from reading too many Buddhist scriptures, as she found herself unable to argue against her reasoning.

She hesitated for a while and then cautiously said, ”What if in the future, you return to the fief?” Might it suddenly happen like with others, falling serious ill and dying?

It wasn’t that she wanted to think darkly, but given her master’s status, not many in the mansion were joyful, especially the two at the top, afraid of those so-called sudden illnesses.

Princess Consort Min looked a bit dazed and said, ”If I return to the fief and remain safe, that’s my luck. If not, then it’s my fate.”
