The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Chapter 706: Chapter 706: The Innocence of a Child, The Fate of a General Star

After Song Zhiyu shamelessly left with the Sheep White Jade Pendant with Dragon Pattern bestowed by the Emperor and a large pile of ’meeting gifts,’ holding the child, Emperor Chu’s gaze fell on Song Zhiyuan.

”I have something to say, but I’m not sure if it’s appropriate to speak.”

Song Zhiyuan: ”...”

No, you don’t want to speak!

”I’ve never seen such a brazen husband’s family from Prince Dingbei’s Mansion; it’s beyond words!”

Song Zhiyuan chuckled awkwardly: ”The young one is naive, please forgive him, Your Majesty.”

Emperor Chu said slowly, ”You once said that after Song Zhima became a father, he matured just like when he became a mother.”

And the result? Is there still any trust left between us?

”It’s hard to change one’s nature; His Majesty, please forgive him.”

Emperor Chu: ”...”

Can it not be forgiven? When asked for, I gave it. Can it really be taken back?

That’s why Song Zhima is truly shameless. Who dares to act like this, asking to see their child? Who wouldn’t just bring their child over, finding it a great honor to let the Emperor just take a glance, let alone think of such meeting gifts. If the Emperor bestows something, it’s glory, but to personally ask for it?

Oh dear, he must have a bear’s heart and leopard’s gall to be so bold. In the whole world, only Song Family’s fourth son dares to directly ask the Emperor for a meeting gift.

What can Song Zhiyuan say? He can only sigh that his younger brother is a big simpleton, walking the edge of doom time and again.

Only Emperor Chu tolerates him. Another emperor might have hated him, but perhaps it’s this honest and guileless nature that pleases the emperor’s heart.

What Song Zhiyuan was thinking about now was his younger brother’s earlier performance, genuinely sincere without scheming. Otherwise, if it was an act, it might have brought a catastrophe upon him.

...

”Eunuch Zhou, do you think Song Zhima is truly foolish or pretending?”

After Song Zhiyuan left, Emperor Chu jokingly asked his trusted eunuch, ”It’s not that no minister has spoken to me about family matters before, but to complain about one’s own wife like Song Zhima is a first. He’s quite bold, not fearing that I might punish him.”

Eunuch Zhou smiled and said, ”In my opinion, Song Zhima feels very close to Your Majesty.”

”Oh?”

”You mentioned watching him grow up since childhood. When he was born, you had already ascended to the throne. So, one might say I also watched him grow up.” Eunuch Zhou sighed, ”In the blink of an eye, Song Zhima is now a father, and I have grown old.”

”Look at what you said; aren’t you implying that I have also grown old?”

Eunuch Zhou quickly apologized, ”I misspoke, please forgive me, Your Majesty.”

”Continue.”

”You regard Madam Song as a senior, always close, and see Prime Minister Song as a trusted confidant. In Song Zhima’s heart, you are naturally like an elder brother; that’s why he shares a bit of his heart with you. They say Song Zhima is born with a life of wealth and nobility, living his life freely and easily, and in my opinion, he doesn’t need to scheme anything; he’s simply a bit dense!”

Emperor Chu laughed heartily, ”A content person naturally leads a smooth life. It’s rare for Song Zhima to maintain this childlike heart; he should always preserve it.”

”Indeed, Your Majesty.”

A Palace Maid entered the hall, saying the Director of the Imperial Observatory requested an audience.

”Summon.”

Eunuch Zhou stepped back a few paces, slightly bowed his head, watching Director Cai walk in with small steps, kneel, and bow, then stating his purpose and handing over a piece of paper.

”...My report to Your Majesty, this birthdate shows the General Star in the life chart, appearing with the Death God, surely indicating exceptional talent. Congratulations, Your Majesty, on gaining such a talent.” Director Cai bowed down.

Eunuch Zhou took it, but in his heart, he sighed; this birthdate belongs to the young son who was just sweetly smiling in the Emperor’s embrace, doesn’t it?
