The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Chapter 717: Chapter 717: Professional Palace Nanny Saboteur

The Princess Consort of Prince Min was happy to be the hands-off shopkeeper, but a few days later, when two concubines entered the household one after the other, they fiercely competed for the household management duties. Consort Ji, backed by the Princess Consort Ji, naturally had the upper hand over Consort Fang, who tried to draw the Princess into her camp. However, the Princess was someone who had mastered the art of living a laid-back life, and no amount of persuasion could sway her, so Consort Fang had to give up.

With more women around, Prince Min Mansion became lively, and Song Ci constantly heard news about the people there from various sources. After all, she had a gossipy Empress Dowager friend, and also the Princess Anping, who frequently wanted to invite her to shop and watch plays. Whenever she met the two of them, she’d hear bits of family gossip.

”That Princess Consort of Prince Min truly is laid-back, but it can’t be denied she’s a smart person,” Song Ci clicked her tongue in praise.

Nanny: ”Could she have caught your eye again?”

Well, she was indeed a beauty.

Song Ci laughed and said, ”Naturally, she caught my eye. After all, her beauty speaks for itself, and she’s not just a pretty face without substance. She’s got a brain. For a Commandery Princess from a fallen kingdom to be raised like this, the Heavenly Family truly deserves credit.”

The Heavenly Family could either show grace to the Commandery Princess from a fallen kingdom or ignore her. Yet, they raised her, not letting her become an unthinking pretty face but ensuring she understood her identity clearly.

Knowing her identity, she wouldn’t act foolishly, and by not acting foolishly, she wouldn’t court disaster.

One must say, in this regard, the Heavenly Family is quite decent.

Don’t say things like ”what does that matter when she’s still living under someone else’s watch.” If she encountered a cruel and tyrannical new ruler, she could be tormented in the most degrading ways.

As it is now, though she lacks freedom, as a caged bird, her upbringing and treatment are only first-rate compared to other noble ladies, except for her awkward background and lack of freedom.

Alas, freedom—how many women in ancient times were truly free? Many women were still imprisoned in the inner quarters, raising children and assisting their husbands. In strict noble families, women wouldn’t even step out of their houses; how is that any different from the Princess Consort of Prince Min’s lack of freedom?

”If it were me, I wouldn’t bother managing those household affairs. It’s just exhausting,” Song Ci said with a light hum, ”Given that identity, it’s about living securely, so it’s best to mind my own business. Let them fight to the death while I happily tend to my own small domain.”

No matter who manages the household, they wouldn’t dare short her on living expenses. If anyone were truly foolish enough to try, well, a complaint would settle it.

Of course, whether that laid-back Princess would file a complaint is unknown.

If it were me, I’d definitely file a complaint. Only the crying child gets candy.

”Pardon my honesty, but you’re also living a hands-off life, minding your small domain,” the nanny said.

In Nanny’s eyes, her lady was just as laid-back as the Princess Consort of Prince Min.

Song Ci smiled as she defended herself, ”Isn’t it because I’m of an age now? It’s precisely the time to enjoy a peaceful old age. Why should I worry about things that the young should handle? My task is to eat well, drink well, stay fit, and strive to live a few more years.”

Nanny laughed, ”That’s not quite true. Haven’t you said before that even in your youth, you just wanted to lie low and take it easy.”

Song Ci coughed a few times, saying, ”Bring water, suddenly my throat feels itchy.”

Don’t betray me like this, old lady. Am I shameless?

Everyone couldn’t help but laugh, seeing how obviously Lady Song shifted the topic.
